Quote from OathboundOne »Frankly I strongly disagree with Lutri's banning.
I feel that Companion as a whole simply SHOULDN'T work in commander. Including a rules... loophole of sorts, just to make it work creates inconsistency in how the commander rules treat other cards that refer to "outside of the game" (the Wishes), that just feels sloppy.
Without Companion, Lutri is just a worse Dualcaster Mage.
Quote from DementedKirby »I agree that I might've overlooked Idol of Oblivion. It could basically draw me a card any turn for just 2. However, it, as well as the other cards you mention, suffer from the same condition: they're noncreature spells. The deck wants to reduce the number of noncreature spells it runs.
Gift of Doom is cute and although morph doesn't go to the stack, attaching the aura to Sidisi does; so it can be responded to.
Road to Return is a spell that does twice of what Eternal Witness does but I don't need the other half of that spell. The deck does have enough reanimation that I can just let Sidisi go to the graveyard instead of the command zone and then cast her or cheat her into play from there. If the graveyard is exiled, then I'll send Sidisi to the command zone. If I have sufficient mana production (which the deck does a lot of) then I don't worry that much about how taxed she is.

Quote from sheriffharry »I like Atla!
Here's the deck I would build
-Lots of big Green and Red creatures (+maybe a big Eldrazi or two)
-4 or 5 sac-outlet cards for the eggs
-Cards that gives haste and/or flying and/or hexproof
-Fireballs to finish things up
Quote from DJK3654 »A good point, but, to be fair, I think WotC is probably going to keep things majorly more toned down than the original stories even if they have a little more darkness than the Disney versions.

That being said, given that there are like 10 million+ MTG players, several million of whom are adults, and with people of course having a wide variety of different personal tastes from one another, I'm surprised that people are surprised that a Little Mermaid/Hansel & Gretel/targeted-at-kindergarten-aged-children type of vibe/flavor wouldn't be what ALL MTG fans are personally into or really resonate with.

Right after they banned Deathrite Shaman in Legacy.
Seriously, though, graveyard shenanigans are quite overpowered without a way to interact with them. There needs to be sufficient ample hate around to deal with it.
