Frankly I strongly disagree with Lutri's banning.

I feel that Companion as a whole simply SHOULDN'T work in commander. Including a rules... loophole of sorts, just to make it work creates inconsistency in how the commander rules treat other cards that refer to "outside of the game" (the Wishes), that just feels sloppy.

Without Companion, Lutri is just a worse Dualcaster Mage.

That is the point. Because WITH companion it's an autoinclude in every single EDH-deck that has the colours red and blue in it.
If a card becomes an auto-include that's a problematic thing.
And when I say every deck, I mean every single one. It doesn't even cost a card slot in the deck, there is absolutely no reason not to play this.

You can go several routes with Yuriko.

Personally I play a lot of cards with high CMC, but low casting cost. I see you play those too.
I then combine that with top of library manipulation and that goes great with Miracle.

    Some card I'd cut:
    - Treasure Cruise: You don't need the draw, you're just playing it because it has a high manacost.
    - Xenograft: Two of these effects is more than enough, Xenograft is the worst of the three.
    - Star Compass: ETBT is way too slow for this deck.
    - Select for Inspection: It's just a bad card.
    - Rags // Riches is bad, the high CMC is nice.. But will you ever play it?
    - Jace's Phantasm is meh.. it doesn't hit hard enough, a one mana shapeshifter would hit harder thanks to your general.

This links was my WIP: https://archidekt.com/decks/135238#Yuriko_(work_in_progress)
Perhaps you find some interesting cards?

I agree that I might've overlooked Idol of Oblivion. It could basically draw me a card any turn for just 2. However, it, as well as the other cards you mention, suffer from the same condition: they're noncreature spells. The deck wants to reduce the number of noncreature spells it runs.
That is true, but I do think it's the cheapest card draw we could have access to.

Gift of Doom is cute and although morph doesn't go to the stack, attaching the aura to Sidisi does; so it can be responded to.
    Guess again Wink

Road to Return is a spell that does twice of what Eternal Witness does but I don't need the other half of that spell. The deck does have enough reanimation that I can just let Sidisi go to the graveyard instead of the command zone and then cast her or cheat her into play from there. If the graveyard is exiled, then I'll send Sidisi to the command zone. If I have sufficient mana production (which the deck does a lot of) then I don't worry that much about how taxed she is.
Good point. I always forget to send her to the GY, we should do that in a deck with as much reanimate as Sultai.

I think you missed some cards.

Bloodthirsty Blade is a good pseudo-removal that fits in every deck. Just imagine how you'd feel if someone used it on Sidisi herself.
Forcing utility generals to attack (unless they can tap) removes them from the game and aggressive commanders also cannot attack you.

Gift of Doom could be played in T3 without acceleration. In T4 you'd play Sidisi, and you can just let it sit until they cast removal. At that point you sacrifise one of your zombies and make her indestructible.

Idol of Oblivion is basically a 2 mana artifact that draws you cards every single turn.

Road of Return seems really good because it both serves as a semi-Eternal Witness and it returns Sidisi back to my hand when she gets killed for the fifth time.

I am not saying they are auto-includes, but some of them definitely require some attention. Especially Gift of Doom and Idol of Oblivion seem quite interesting.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Idol of Oblivion?
It's going to replace my mentor of the meek for sure.

I also like the new Chainer, giving your creatures haste is really good. Not sure if I want it.
Gift of Doom can be played early and I can sac a token to attach it to Edgar.

    I like Atla!
Here's the deck I would build
-Lots of big Green and Red creatures (+maybe a big Eldrazi or two)
-4 or 5 sac-outlet cards for the eggs
-Cards that gives haste and/or flying and/or hexproof
    -Ramp spells
    -Spot removal
    -Homeward path
    -Fireballs to finish things up
    Et voilà!

I am personally going to make it a really wonderful and flavourful Dinosaur-deck.
She can make more creatures, give me protection against wraths and there are even some good combo's with her if ***** hits the fan. She's amazing!

I'm not sure about the card.. It sounds like something like Tooth and Nail, or something like Protean Hulk.
It can be used for broken nonsense, but it also has a lot of fair uses. It would definitely go in one or two of my decks.

A good point, but, to be fair, I think WotC is probably going to keep things majorly more toned down than the original stories even if they have a little more darkness than the Disney versions.

So far we just have a handful of arts.
One has a little girl with a bloodied sword and three decapitated bears and a beartrap.
In the alternative version she made a rug out of one of them.

I really don't expect Bashful, Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sneezy, Sleepy and Dopey to be featured.
Just look at the witch a few posts up Smile

I expect them to be just as 'grimm' (excuse the pun) as the original stories, if not worse.

That being said, given that there are like 10 million+ MTG players, several million of whom are adults, and with people of course having a wide variety of different personal tastes from one another, I'm surprised that people are surprised that a Little Mermaid/Hansel & Gretel/targeted-at-kindergarten-aged-children type of vibe/flavor wouldn't be what ALL MTG fans are personally into or really resonate with.

The prince actually broke the heart of the little mermaid, leaving her alone as a human being.
Her sisters than give her an enchanted knife with which she has to kill the prince in his sleep so she can become a mermaid again.
She refuses, kills herself and becomes an air elemental.

Do you think WOTC will follow Disney or Grimm for the origin of their stories?
This isn't just fairytales, this is medieval folklore.

    Cindarella killed the stepmother.
Sleeping Beauty was raped in her sleep by a prince that already married someone else and awoke because the babies were kicking.
Remember the queen from Snow White? Look up how she died. (Had to dance in heated metal shoes until she died)

Actual fairytales are more grim and dark than the entire Innistrad block.
Our folklore is more than just "kindergarten" material.

  • posted a message on [RUMOR] The Commander 19 decks will be based on keywords
ADC Blackfire Entertainment GmbH ("Blackfire.eu") is an European distributor selling popular Fantasy- and Trading Card Games (TCGs) like Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Cardfight!! Vanguard, or Pokemon. We also offer Accessories from well-known producers like KMC Sleeves, Ultra Pro, or Arcane Tinmen.
Please note that we only sell to retailers and other distributors!

"Each deck has a returning keyword ability as its main theme. The four featured abilities are populate, flashback, morph, and madness."

The Commander series returns with four brand new ready-to-play decks for Magic’s most popular multiplayer format.

Each deck has a returning keyword ability as its main theme. The four featured abilities are populate, flashback, morph, and madness.

The Commander series is a great entry point for players interested in the format. Additionally, all cards included will be legal in Legacy and Vintage, piquing the interest of fans of Eternal formats as well.

    Each deck contains:

    100-card Commander deck
    1 foil oversized card
    10 double-sided token cards
    Deck storage box
    Deck strategy insert
    Magic quick reference card

I have no reason to believe this information is false.
This would mean we would get four decks:
    1. Populate
    2. Flashback
    3. Morph
    4. Madness

So far there is no information on the color, the amounts of colors, etc.
I can without a doubt say that the populate deck will have a token theme whereas the Flashback will have a GY-theme.
Madness will surely involve quite some discard, perhaps even wheels.

I loved it, it made vampires a valid tribe (perhaps too strong for 1v1), Dragons were finally playable, etc.
It's a good way of supporting decks that are otherwise lower-tier.

Right after they banned Deathrite Shaman in Legacy.

Seriously, though, graveyard shenanigans are quite overpowered without a way to interact with them. There needs to be sufficient ample hate around to deal with it.
My issue is that GY-tactics in itself are very complicated, require synergy and such.
But anti-GY cards seem to be too powerful, often don't even have a REAL downside.. Just look at this card! Why wouldn't you play it?

The result is that the answer to graveyard decks are much easier than the graveyard-decks itself.
And do you know who hurts that the most? People that aren't going full-out with their decks, the players that aren't combo'ing some reanimation.
