My deck works very well, im just inherently worried by melira, as she is in fact, something that stops infect. the fact that i have to go out of my way to kill her makes her annoying. And its all better now, Pongify with surgical extraction works wonders!
So i just realized that there is a melira pod deck that is popular....and i am trying to run infect. So my main thing is, what card takes care of her? bounce works temporarily, but i really cant think of anything that works besides prey upon
The mana base is pretty stable, although i was thinking of putting a few more dual lands into the fray. Blighted agent is an amazing card, and it is the reason that blue is in there. vapor snag is an answer to Melira, the only thing that shuts down this deck completely. Plus, i was thinking it might be beneficial to have some counter spells in the sideboard, for game 2.
The simian spirit guide looks awesome, except it would need to take up at least 4 slots, and then assualt strobe would be another 4, and i think everything really pulls its weight. Also, in response to lightning bolts and path to exile, a tenth of the cards in the deck give some sort of hexproof.
Thanks, for the advice, I shall spend some time looking at the other decks. is there anywhere I could find a list of most popular cards in modern format? and if anyone would be willing, i could send them a decklist of my infect idea and get it critiqued.
Hi,
On the 24th there will be a PTQ for modern that i am hoping to attend, and it will be my first big tournament. The problem is, i've never played modern competitive so i really have no idea what to expect. I know some of the main decks ( Jund, Zoo, Tron, Affinity, etc.) but I'm not sure as to the overall power level of modern. So here are my questions:
How fast are modern games usually (turn-wise)?
Any tips i should learn before jumping into this competitive magic world?
Do the majority of players go for a control strategy or an aggro one?
I was thinking a Blue Green Infect Growth Deck may be good, but i'm not sure if it would be too slow or noneffective (is melira a big card in modern?)
thanks for all the help!
Any help would be great, thanks!
3 Ranger's guile
3 fog
2 Hurkyl's recall
2 surgical extraction
3 negate
The negates are supposed to be any cheap counter, im not sure which one would be best as i dont play control.
Also, what do you guys think is the most effective way of killing melira? thats what vapor snag is for, but im not sure which to do.
I actually was planning on making a homebrew, here it is : http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=400694
Edit: I have the main deck, but im not too sure how the sideboard should be
