Hmm ... kind of don't like the Manipulator, as he's just reeeeeaaaally slow. And he resets himself. I can understand that though, stealing a creature repeatedly from Turn 4 onward would be too strong I guess. But that way, he even seems too fragile for casual decks. But who knows, maybe I can find a place where he fits in, because the card has really cool art and I want to play with it!
Truefire Paladin is cool I guess, but Boros cards are always kind of boring to me
Flavor-wise, I'd say BUG (see Mystic Genesis & the opinion the Simic about the Golgari in the 'walkers guide, also Corpsejack Menace) and URW (Warmind Initiative).
That comment about Deathrite Shaman above is a prime example of "serious card evaluation gone wrong", and every player should keep it in mind when bashing on a seemingly "bad card".
Jeez, the internets. So much misunderstandings. We actually pretty much are the peanut gallery here (since we don't have any professional knowledge). But isn't this whole discussion completely off topic anyway?
@Topic: I too think that it's silly of wizards to basically go after their own promoters, but well, who knows what they are thinking. I hope you get out of this though Tamales. I like your fanart quite a bit.
2. Why the hell should we be restricted to only that section?
Can't you be restricted to this section?
Or is this another case of "I am king here, do as I say filthy competitive man"
Yeah, I guess if there was a section for discussion about newly spoiled cards from a casual perspective, I would most likely go there.
And no, this wasn't meant to sound condescending or anything. After all, anyone can post wherever he or she wants. I just knew of this section and thought that maybe you didn't, so I linked it. No ill will intended
On a sidenote, I also enjoy playing "powerful" decks in casual and tuning them towards the optimum. I like efficient decks. Heck, I'm a big fan of Bloodbraid Elf. If it turns out that my decks aren't consistent enough, don't do what they should do, require too many combo pieces or have too many "bad cards" in them, I will change them and, if they don't get any better, give them up. However, I also like the creativity that casual play allows (i.e. you aren't forced to play with the cream of the crop). I mean, where else could you play with a Biovisionary.dec and actually win some games?
The funny thing is, you already have threads for discussions about competitiveness.
And as I said before, I don't have any problems with someone saying that card X isn't playable or even a "bad card" in some format. I also have no intentions to hype up something like Gruul Charm or Mystic Genesis for Standard playability. I don't "hate" competitive players, I just really dislike those that are trying to convince everyone about how bad a card is and how you should feel bad for liking it (and god forbid wanting to test it in a competitive deck!!). But I guess that's just the Internet at work here. Most people wouldn't be so rude if you talked to them face to face...
