Second head plays Supplant Form, bouncing the Kolaghan back to my hand. Next turn, Kolaghan dashes back, and we now have two of them to play with.
Reminds me of a recent 2HG draft tournament. We pulled off the same move, except for using Siege Rhino instead of Kolaghan.
Last FNM, I committed a lot of overkill. Had in play: Aven Surveyor with 5 +1/+1 counters (from an earlier Sandsteppe Mastodon), Shu Yun. Bear Punch opponent's single flyer with the giant bird, grant it double strike with Shu, swing with a 9/9 double strike flyer.
I've found that Secret Plans and Trail of Mystery are actually much worse now. I haven't put one in my deck since FRF came out, and whenever I've faced one, I've been unimpressed.
While I agree on Secret Plans, Trail is as busted as ever. Okay, the manifests may only flip only 1/3 of the time. Getting those lands out of the deck (allowing to reliably cast stuff from the silly-yet-pricey category) is still a good bargain. Building around it admittedly has gotten harder, though, as you now only have two packs to collect the morphs, and you may not be into manifesting at the point where you pick up the Trail.
I got an Abzan box, but since my boosters showered me with insane red (Siege, Sarkhan, Flamerush Rider, Rageform), I ended up playing Naya and only splashing black for Abzan Guide and Charm. Was a total blast to play and ended up going 4-1 with it.
Best moment: copied Sandsteppe Mastodon with Flamerush Rider, Bolstering the Rageform manifest.
1) How much have you played with the format, roughly?
Weekly FNM draft, about 5x sealed, 4x two-headed giant draft (best format ever).
2) Which common was better than you expected? Feat of Resistance. Especially if you get a slew of new abilities while dodging a removal spell.
3) Which common was worse than you expected? Sagu Archer.
4) What's the most underappreciated card? Quiet Contemplation. My removal now also freezes their guys? Sign me up!
5) What's the worst common that people still play? Ainok Tracker. At least it has morph.
6) What was your favorite archetype?
Domain. In 2HG draft Goblinslide.
7) Which archetype wasn't as good as you'd expected?
I somehow never get Jeskai to work.
8) Which colors were the best and worst?
I really like blue.
9) Thoughts on the format as a whole?
I love any format that supports me in running as many colours as possible. Also, those morphs remind me of Netrunner - great stuff.
Conspiracy draft, too.
I decided to go for all those draft-altering cards, start with Agent of Acquisitions, use it two boosters later to 'lastpick' Lurking Automaton and get another Automaton in the second pack. My colours were all over the place, but I was lucky enough to pick up a Worldknit to take care of that issue.
First game was super stupid. I bring out Selvala on turn 3, follow up with Vedalken Orrery. A turn later, when I have 2 lands untapped, an opponent swings at me. I Parley with Selvala, get 3 mana, drop the 15/15 automaton onto his attacker and swing right back at him. Before my next turn, I land a Traveler's Cloak on the automaton, notice everyone is playing Mountains and stomp the rest of the table with an unblockable 15/15.
4-player Conspiracy game. I had drafted a mainly red defender deck with an insidious plan.
Step 1: Play Heartless Hidetsugu.
Step 2: Before my turn comes around, flip Immediate Action, grant Hidetsugu Haste and activate his ability.
Step 3: On my turn, activate Hidetsugu again, then drop Sulfuric Vortex.
Step 4: Watch people die.
I then proceeded to win this way twice in a row. In the third game, one of my opponent lives past his upkeep, but has no board. He draws, laughs, slams Dack's Duplicate, turns it into Hidetsugu, activates and watches me die to my own Vortex.
wondering what happens when your opponent ends up playing board wipes vs you
with no spells if your opponent gets ahead on board state and has answers to your creatures what do you do to get out of a jam?
do you VW for a low amount hoping to hit something?
Depends on what's low for you. If you cast it for 5-6, it's usually already enough to turn the game. Anything higher than 10 usually leads to the opponent picking up his cards.
Been playing a similar deck on Gameday (basically mono-G devotion splashing for Doomwakes and VW), pulled off a 5-1 and earned one of those sweet foil promos. Seems to work.
That graphic - so true! Thanks for making my day.
As for random Ponybacks in 5c decks: I often run them - can always use a Grey Ogre that spits out 3 extra bodies when needed.

Viable?

Duneblast
Crater's Claws
The only thing more fun than a 5 colour morph deck is a 5 colour morph deck with a board sweeper.

Also, the German title of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is 'The Return of the First Avenger'. WTF!

Also, I refused to play Terror, because it was too scary.
