I can give you my method of looking up an odd ruling.
1.) Search the rulings forum here
2.) Check wizard's comprehensive rulings on their website
3.) If I can't find the answer doing any of the above, I make a new post in the rulings forum here, double checking to make sure that the question hasn't been asked before. Questions are usually answered within ten minutes.
If your friend doesn't understand that activated abilities can be used at instant speed, and you have trouble articulating that, chances are neither of you are going to get much of anything out of a judge practice exam.
I can easily explain that, its just my friend have a hard time really understand, which I find really odd sometimes, he is a old players and he just lacks complete understanding of interactivity with some card. I'll guess Ill just use google and such to find proof to the question I am answering to my friend.
Althought I wish I could have found stuff like question on magic advisor, which are simple and can make you learn more about rules
like does a 2/2 bear with [can't be blocked except by creature with flying] can be block by a bird 2/2 flying with [can only block creature with flying]
Thank for everything
The big thing about all this is that my friend would really like to grasp hard situation that can happen in magic because most of the time he as a hard time and I usually explain it the best possible way I can with the knowledge I know.
its can be as easy as using Erratic Portal in combat but sometimes it get very technical. Myself I know a lot about rules but I would like him to have more knowledge and I tho using those test would be the best
Is there any site that put test out without really being "official"
Hello everyone I would like to find the "delphi" that were created, but site like magic advisor are not working, I know there is the Judge center on wizards site but its require a DCI number
Is there a way to get a dci number even tho the last I attended to a pre release was quite a long time ago, more than 4 years, or for someone that never really attended to any organized tournament.
Anything that could be really close to magic rules test would suffice
1) Ink trade and the glory seeker with get +2/+2 amd be protected against the next 3 damage
2) a) Ink and Glory will get +2/+2 and protection from a color (the spell is green) b) exactly the same (the spell is white)
3) In that particular way, no matter how you try splicing a glacial ray and giving protection of the spell color both Ink and glory would receive damage has their will both get the protection
Does anyone found a way to create a spoiler file list from a base you builded? (like a reverse spoiler to a mws set)
Like I added my cube in a .mwbase file but I can't figure out how to generate booster for there or spoiler list.
Is it possible to generate booster from the entire list of magic?
Is there a way to manually add card to a set? Like for example, create an empty set (with an empty spoiler) and then add card to it within mws
The only way I found is too create the spoiler list yourself but you have to copy and paste every text of the card in your cube in the text then you can generate a special set then generate booster
Mana screw and flood are part of magic even tho I hate them very much
Although I play alot of [dont remember the exact name] style gameplay with my cube and it works very well (the gameplay were its consist of putting one of your card face down and its act has a land that tap for any color), but in constructive, I think it would require alot of balance because now all deck essentially becomes 60 spell deck instead of being 35-40)
I have an Soul Sculptor on the field
My opponent has anAnimate Dead on a random creature
If I use the sculptor ability on the animated creature, does it dies?
If I remember correctly you can not use the card for what is it at all, even by playing for free, put it into the BF from hand/graveyard/library, so I would guess if he has a Siege gang in his hand and want to use lackey triggered ability he would then have to choose a goblin that cost the same thing.
Same thing with illusionary mask, is he put the dreadnought "morphed" on the tabled and it flipped up, he would have to choose something else for any artifact creature that cost 1
ascetism is good and bad at the same time, its good because of the regen, its bad because we already have Privileged Position
I would guess its casual greatness tho
I think upgrading the rarity still a need to get a higher cost somehow for example
Common = Lightning Bolt
Uncommon could become 1R deal 4 damage
Rare 1RR deal 5 divided has you choose
Along the line like this. Just upgrading the rarity dont make a card more balanced (except for how often you see them in draft). You need to balance a cost within the strenght of the card too has you would never see a "U" Counter spell or a "R" spell that deal 4 (baring any limitation or drawback).
My 2 cent
In all magic history their is at least one card (even one rare) per set that are quite bad and are really in any kind of deck
(some may have rare use of casual or very specific build)

your basic swamp have 2 swamp type but they are redundant and only count once
