    Quote from spidernova »
The biggest reason i'm playing legacy right now is that i've had three modern decks banned out from under me. I wish I could afford dual lands, but wizards has seen to that, so DnT forever it is.

Not a bad choice, DnT is a lot more fun than many decks with duals!

Every Legacy player I've personally met has been very friendly. I don't play much anymore, but years ago when I first got into the format I built some budget mono B decks to try out. My opponents had tier 1 decks but we still had good games and I learned a lot. Everyone was supportive and I got some advice but nothing overbearing. I got addicted to the format and quickly built some better decks but the awesomeness of my (now sadly defunct) Legacy community stuck with me.

I'd say 90% of my bad experiences in Magic have been with Standard, the other 10% Modern.

    Working on a few:

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - George RR Martin
Gods of Opar - Philip Jose Farmer
The Lord Came at Twilight - Daniel Mills

Just finished re-reading The Long Walk by Stephen King, one of my favorites. Some of the passages get me every time though, very haunting.

    1) Awesome
    2) The Festival, the setting and transformation that happens have always stuck in my mind. The Colour Out of Space is my favourite though.
    3) They still hold up, no need for a remake.
    4) Thomas Ligotti, Clark Ashton Smith, Scott Nicolay, Nathan Ballingrud, Simon Strantzas

BBE can stay on the list, Cascade is a fundamentally broken mechanic. When you play a BBE and cascade into a 3 mana spell, you basically get to play a Black Lotus and draw a relevant card that impacts the board. The 2 mana spells you can cascade into are just as good (Bob, Goyf) and some 1 mana ones are nothing to scoff at either (Bolt, Path). That's all in addition to a 3/2 haste creature.

I would love to see Ancestral Vision unbanned next, I understand why they are taking their time on it but I think it would give control more of a leg to stand on while not empowering any existing archetypes.

Does Spirit stop card draws with Jace, AoT or Commune with Gods? Those cards don't really specify 'draw' in their text line. I

No it doesn't since it specifies put in your hand instead of draw, it doesn't stop Dark Confidant either for example.

I play Merfolk locally against a broad range of decks and have a lot of success with it.

Just curious, besides Death and Taxes what does everyone in here play?

I know it's in my sig, but I play DDFT, and it really helps me understand the storm/combo matchups to a point that I feel is very helpful (also, DnT realllly helps with learning cabal therapy targets)

What decks do you guys think help improve skills of DnT players? I think that might be a helpful thing to help people know what skills are stressed in the deck.

I play almost exclusively DnT and Merfolk. Having experience playing Merfolk is nice because it helps me when I play DnT vs RUG or similar tempo decks.

And now... we have people expecting/wishing that WOTC is going to turn Revenge of Necromancy into Revenge of Necropotence. People really don't seem to understand that Necropotence isn't happening, and neither is BitWC...

They could potentially print Blood in the Watering Can in one form or another at some point. I believe they have done this in the past with other runner-ups.

    Quote from Undone
The card is terrible today. It was designed as a tool to beat counter spells. Counter spells are now bad. Ergo vial is bad. The cheating on mana aspect requires that you play draw spells of substantial size (Standstill/goblin ringleader) to take advantage of it. In modern we don't have ancestral visions or standstill and counterspells are pathetic. Otherwise this is just worse than another creature. It costs you a card and does very little.

The printing of other hate such as abrupt decay is just another nail it it's coffin.

A little harsh on good old vial, it does a lot more than just beating counters. It definitely loses its luster in Modern compared to other formats though Slant

If this card is costed very low (1-2 CMC) it will be interesting with Draw 7 effects or against Dredge players. I have no faith that this card will be costed that low though...

Merfolk for me, basically unblockable off opposing islands and more lords than you can shake a stick at.

Three of the cards you listed are mythics, you won't get anywhere with a box. See what happens to the single prices of those cards and save your money for those.

Well, I strongly disagree with him too, but nothing he just stated was self-contradictory. There's nothing at stake here; "winning" the argument isn't important. There's no need to get into it like that.

I agree there's no point in arguing, I was basically just stating that the logical place for a deck too powerful for Modern would be Legacy and Fae is nowhere to be found there. Either way I'm done, Wizards can do whatever, I'm not a huge fan of the format anyways Slant
