Funny I thought it was the best looking Marsh Flats yet. Then again I really like the basics from Lorwyn.

After plenty of reps in standard, cube, pioneer, draft I think this card is great. Best in the set for me. Will likely stick for a long while unless wizards keeps drinking the simic koolaid

First time I cast this guy I also had a Mimic Vat. Yeah, that was filthy.

Even in normal circumstances, I'm very optimistic about Uro though. Love the design.

I like that it feels very different from other cards in my cube while still doing all the things I like (undercosted fatties, card advantage, graveyard value, combo etc.

I posted this in the Blood Artist thread - I changed my mind on this card. We’ll give it a shot and see what happens. I hate that black is so stacked at 3cc though...

I actually wish they had inversed the card. Make a mightier 5 drop with a weaker version with a cheap 3 mana 2 card escape

I would have said cutting Supreme Verdict is unthinkable, but I'm kinda getting swayed by the idea of freeing up that guild slot. I really like my gold slots helping to support interesting archetypes ...

... okay, a sweeper is good for control, but I'd rather see something a little more exciting if I can manage it. Maybe more flicker support, or thopter-Dovin, I dunno.

There are at least 4 playable walkers, geist, 3 great removal cards, dragonlord, reflector mage... and on and on. Really one of the tightest guilds. I would need a huge section to bring back verdict

Im not a fan of the swords so im always on the look out for cubeable equipment. Loxidon Warhammer was good in the early days of my cube and I think midrange decks will like access to 2 relivent keywords.

The activated ability feels like trinket text for the most part though so I feel like this lacks the extra oomph to make it 8n most cubes but if I happen across one I may try it out.

I have thought a lot about benching the swords. When the new ones came out I found I had little interest in them because they already take up a lot of slots in a 360 cube. Play with them is great but highly variable because of protections. And frankly I got rid of all the other protection cads in cube for the same reason.

To the OP. My biggest need for equipment is in lightweight aggro and tempo decks so the eqiup cost of one and two is almost a must. This card will certainly give red deck fits and be a huge boon to green and other fatty decks trying to get though tokens.

I much prefer settle the wreckage to having a 3rd mono-white wrath. It sees play in many decks that where really unexcited to run a regular wrath. I don't feel I need more than 2 wipes in any color until I was around 630 in size.

At 465, I like having three in black and think white could likely use one more. I wish white had a 3-mana option like black does. I realize that cutting Supreme Verdict is kind of a sideways move but it gives me a third mono-white Wrath and frees up a guild slot. We need the cheap Wraths to keep the aggro/control/midrange meta somewhat in balance. I'm more excited for Shatter the Sky than any other card in the set and it will likely be my only inclusion.

    Cheers,
    rant

I think it is important for all cube managers to find their balance. I enjoy wrath, settle, catastrophe. But at times I have used Day of Judgement, terminus, and Supreme verdict. So it is likely this will end up in the stable of those cards. I have a personal preference for avoiding functional reprints when I can get a little variety for minor differences in performance. Black board wipes are great in that way. Supreme verdict is the only one unlikely to come backs as white has good enough ones without needing to fill a gold slot.

And you have me rethinking. I have been cut happy size going down to 360 but at 465, 3-4 is probably the right number.

I like this fairly well. Best card in the set for me to try. It may not stick with green sun’s zenith or collected company but great value with both. My blue green decks like ramp and cards and fatties but sometimes have trouble getting it all together and keeping at 40 cards so I like combined cards.

Reminds me of Koran Tusker. Can be animated but the is a B/G deck plan. Escape in a sonic or Temur build should be fine. 5 mana for a shock seems bad but firebolt hangs around. We will see how bad escape 5 is

I always had a soft spot for Chasm Skulker. This card is more consistent but asks more of you. It also doesn't have the combo potential with draw 7s that the skulker does

I have long cube the 2 earthquakes and wildfire because my group never played them. We have enjoyed a miser Jokulhaups as it works great in the walker deck., This doesn't replace that but I do think it is the best red wrath in a traditional sense. 360 is probably too small to support red control. (Aggro, Token, Reanimator being better).

For those that do support wildfire, specifically creatures with 5+ toughness, this is worth a look as support

3 CMC in black has gone from one of the weakest spots in cube to one of the toughest. I think this is a great card and will happily play it if I see it in a draft, but I don't know if it makes it into smaller cube. All of the items listed in the OP are right on.

You are right, I think the tricky wording will catch people, and there are similar cards that get a rebate. That said a powerful 3 drop in Gruul is great. Going are the days where we only have 4 drops

I’m really excited about this. I think vortex mode is great. Not hosing lifegain is a bummer but I don’t have that many in cube. Incidental graveyard hate is most welcome as b/w sacrifice and reanimate see regular play in my cube, are good decks and need, but don’t need dedicated hate cards.

I can see this being alright in Jund or midrange as a win con/ hate/ ramp .

Gruel midrange can vomit stuff on the board so the creature mode is a bonus.

Best of all it takes effect on precombat not upkeep so you get the first activation right away.
