Wouldn't mind playing this with Reforge the Soul and maybe some other mill or draw effects. Still, not sure how good this will actually be, but it looks like fun!
I was totally thinking that a deck with reforge the soul, past in flasmes, epic expieriments could be a thing anyway. Unfortunately this will have to stay as an alternate win in my Burn at the stake combo deck. If we get some non-creature based rituals I might try it by itself.
Zombie decks, tokens, and burn aggro and others eat this guy for lunch.
But I do think he is one of the best punisher mechanics we have had, and can easily be an all star in mono-black control with his new best buddy mutilate.
The trouble I have with this guy is putting him in over bloodgift demon. Yes that guy costs 1 more but gets you cards if he is being chumped.
I am glad I just ordered 4 burn at the stake. I think a mostly red deck splashing blue is the way to go. Things like past in flames are just too clunky.
There are bound to be some more token spells in this set, and maybe another ritual.
I think that the price pressure is from most players buying almost no product, and focusing on sigles, as they can still get a very popular block and there is another on the way, the core is looking unattractive.
At the two shops I play at there have been revolts agaist the shop using M13 for draft and prizes due to the belief in a low expected value.
Personally I like the format and mahappy to pick up multiple duals in every pod I seem to be in.
To me this card feels more like devastation tide than upheaval. I like this kind of effects in blue but 7 mana cards have to be almost unreal(Karn) for me to play them outside of green.
The elemental is interesting for sure, and I assume the fact that it is rare has to do with the fact that it is confusing(new world order and all). It will certainly make combat a nightmare againts this guy.
He will certainly like carrying runechanter's pike, but I think in the end he is just a little too fair to break.
He avoids one of the big problems of creature pumps, in that your utility spells can do all sorts of things like the charms, but still end up as pumps. But he fails in that it still costs a card and mana. I would like him a lot better if it was just dicard like the Loltroll.
I think if the right card advantage engine can be crafted he might abuse it. And heck he finally gives me a justification to play dangerous wager.
I would definitely go silverblade paladin and arbor elf. TO make the most of the 4/4 3 drop, you want an accelerator on turn one, 4/4 turn two, turn 3 rancor and paladin, ugly. I also like wolfir silverheart. Also the ulvenwald tracker is a good one if you are dropping early fatties and want more removal.
Ummm. I am torn. Maybe Grinning Demon worth, or maybe it is another Vexing Devil? I guess a 6/6 flying fatty and a one sided The Abyss are both awesome.
This Loxodon though, man, since Dismember is gone, paired with Pilgrim, I can see this guy ruining days all the time. The body for the price is absurd. Coupled with Rancor, he's never even a bad top deck.
It is the mere existence of the Pilgrim, and the arbor elf, maybe without birds that will be pushing G/W 3 drops.
Dungrove, and Blade Splicer are gone so what better three drop will we have in the deck? Silverblade Paladin, Ajani? Both play pretty well with the elephant.
I like it fairly well and will probably cause me to drop my planar clensing(I have foil that I was loathe to de-cube). Wall of Denial is one of the mroe hated cards in U/W so no one will miss that either. So +1 for white.
It certianly is not better than DoJ, or Wrath, and I still think I like Terminus better.
It reminds me alot of Desolation Giant, a card I used as a placeholder in R/W and had previously dismissed but my playgroup absoultely loves. Wrath effects that aren't first picks are nice.
I really likethe card but it will depend on your cube. If you have lots of control, more uncounterable cards are goood. If you cube is very fast and or has a very low average CMC (Which many people here strive for) than it is going to be an all-star. That sadi after this block is done it may be a moot point except for huge cubes.
What is is not. It is not a creature. Green and black are loaded with destruction spells and the Green/black combo has soem of the best destruction spells. That is why the Lol troll is my new #1 Golgari card, and I am trying to find a way to keep leech.
I had a scary cube draft recently the people to the right and left of me cut creatures. Not colors, not broken spells, but creatures. I ended up with a great deck full of permission and removal and broken things but not nearly enought threats. So as took up the creature count in all my colors and am now keeping that in mind as I expand the guilds after Ravnica.
OK I like silly cards, and I understnad not everythings is constructed playable but 6 CMC. Really WotC. 3-4 would have just brokwn the world wide open I guess.
Oh yeah and I ma sure this will be the new Heretic Punishment for me. 10% of my Ravnica rares here we come......
Way too good not to play. She is better than other planeswalkers I play now but happens to be in a guild. I love the deed and all but if you want to talk about an oppressive card that leads to not interactive gameplay that is certainly one.
The troll is an auto-include because I am always trying to add more good quality low CMC creatures.
I understand the desire to limit guilds and make monocolored decks more viable but my playgroup has been going multicolored. I just could never imagine going lower than 4 gold in a 360. And if this means that people who choose to play 3-4 colored decks are less consistant but have access to more power, that's magic.
I find most mono colored decks in 360 to be quite boring , they are using about half of the cards that I placed in that color and surprise surprise the deck turns out to be exactly as I planned the color to be.
All I care about is whether the alt art will be good. I really want to see corpsejack in particular, since the regular looks too much like a gruesome hoo-haw.
Personally, I'd take any of these over moonsilver spear.

A real shame that monster efficient beaters aren't enough for cube, at least not in the guilds at >2 CMC.
