I think people are overlooking the fact that Experience is the mechanic for this Commander set and we'll likely see ways to manipulate or add experience tokens, as well as other creatures that gain/benefit from experience tokens.
Aren't we supposed to get one new walker per set since RTR? As in, one new character entirely? If I recall Rosewater said that was the plan, and its been pretty spot on sans a few sets in the middle.
Return to Ravnica had Vraska
Gatecrash had Domri Rade
Dragon's Maze had Ral Zarek
Theros had Ashiok and Xenagos
Born of the Gods had Kiora
Journey Into Nyx didn't have one (only Ajani)
Khans of Tarkir didn't have one (only Sorin and Sarkhan)
Fate Reforged had Ugin
Dragons of Tarkir had Narset
Battle for Zendikar has Ob Nixilis
I think we could see one of the Oath members then a new character or planeswalker. They'll save Nahiri/Sorin together for a later story thread to unravel. Would be interesting if someone like Drana did it, but doubt they'd give another Vampire a planeswalker nonetheless a second B in this story.
Being upset that this card exists is like being upset that Shatter was printed in Mirrodin (old and new). Green has had Naturalize consistently for over a decade, more or less, so I'm entirely baffled that people are interpreting doing the same thing with exile as some kind of obscenity. This is entirely predictable, entirely fair, and entirely unremarkable. It's delusional to expect there not to be answers to card types that are going to be important in the upcoming metagame.
Eh I don't really have an issue with it, having Green get access to Exile is meh and I don't like "do everything" utility cards typically. I didn't like Naturalize anyway so I don't like this.
I'll tolerate it though, anyone who wasn't expecting Green to get God-hate was delusional though lol
Edit: So help me if they don't print Deicide (Exile target God) I'll be sad.
I would've rather they printed a more expensive Erase in White and an Exile target Artifact in Green as a pair of cards. Instead of a catch-all 3 drop.
Triggers are written "[Trigger condition], [effect]" or "[When/Whenever/At] [trigger event], [effect]." If you're writing the reminder text in the same format as it would be in rules text, why would you remove the comma?
My mistake then, I assumed it wasn't necessary since it was a flat statement.
The "doing anything" would be covered by a keyword specific rules update that allows the spell to be copied as it last existed on the stack.
Do you think it is better to give only one copy?
Comma was unnecessary (at least I believe it was, I could be wrong.)
I almost like it better with a single copy, so its a tolerable spell normally but a powerful one if you smacked your opponent in combat this turn. It also plays more into WU's strengths of locking down an opponent so you can swing in and using your fliers to the maximum. It'd almost be like Bloodlust but restrictive and WU.
Sprout 1 (When this creature enters the battlefied put a +1/+1 counter on it or put a 1/1 green Saproling creature token onto the battlefield.)
Removed comma, added put before Saproling so it doesn't sound like put a counter on it or a 1/1 green Saproling, it says to put said saproling on the field.
Martial (If a creature you control dealt combat damage to an opponent this turn, copy this spell.)
I don't know if this was your intention, but your current wording wouldn't do anything. This way only results in one copy if a creature dealt combat damage to an opponent this turn.
That whip is ABSURD, especially now that it has synergy with Ashen Rider. Wow. Whip + Rider + Sac outlet = exile a permanent, swing for 5 with evasion, then exile another permanent. For four mana.
Wow.
Not to mention other cards with ETB effects, like Angel of Serenity and Lifebane Zombie.
When the Ashen Rider leaves the second time it gets exiled instead due to the wording on Whip. So it won't exile a second target.
I'd personally combine him with cards that make others sac creatures when I do, any on death trigger will be nice with him. Lysolda kinda restricts you to red if you want the damage bonus whereas Tymaret (especially with Zombie) will work with things like Gravecrawler and such.
You could do some weird RB Human/Zombie hybrid deck with Xathrid Necromancer and Rage Thrower and such, would at least be fun to say the least. He also is a nice friend to Purphoros if you have things that pop creatures in on death.
I think this is almost certainly the next summer release, in the mold of Planechase, etc. Most of those have been multi-player formats. A multi-player format inspired by the board game "diplomacy" would be sweet.
My EXACT thoughts. I love politics in multiplayer magic, giving us the ability to backstab and wreck each other will be fun.
I still would put my money on Nissa and a new person or Nissa and Chandra if Wizards is playing it safe since no core sets anymore.

RR you win, opponent never gets a chance to really stop you.
