is evryone ignoring the fact that the hybrid mana symbol is bigger than the other mana sybols on the same line?
these are SO fake it's not even funny

Nice idea. I was thinking about this deck the other day as it was one of my favourites back when it was in standard: ramping into omniscience, casting enter the infinite, cast borborygmos, win.

I'd be so hyped for naruto-like ninjas and kaijus. but i really hope thy don't put in any modern or futuristic stuff. it would just be too weird.
I mean even stuff like mirrodin does not sit well with me...

The ban of Oath of Nissa is more in the tradition of no good cantrips in the modern era, nevertheless it is quite inconsistent they don't ban Once Upon a Time too which we could argue is even better.

As for Veil of summer, as more combo stuff is figured out this card would just be the all start combo protector: from discard, from pieces getting blown and from counterspells. Playing vs Nexus of fate decks which used Veil of summer was even more miserable in a match that is already boring and dull.

As for the data used, if you go and see the PTQ, challenge and leagues from MTGO you would see Mono green devotion was still dominating after the leyline ban, and one big reason was because you couldn't kill NIssa because Veil of summer was protecting her.

Nissa, who shakes the world, BTW might go on the watch list if she still runs rampant after Veil of summer ban, or maybe she will become the Planeswalker to beat in Pioneer
Once upon a time is "better" only on turn 1, and even then what's really pushing oath of nissa is that allows for 5colours superfriends

Clancaller is a must-include in my opinion. It pump's our team. And is a great mana sink + lord-tutor. Some people still play Visionary on that spot. But with CoCo, Lead the Stampede and Peatland we already have enough card-advantage.

Great you're back into Elves. After looting bann, I feel this deck is very well positioned in the current meta.

@ TheThominator: it feels like a reactive card against flyer decks and therefore optional sideboard material. But I don't know any flyer decks, we need this against.
Besides that, we're a deck that goes wide, not going big Wink
I think it's a good card, but not good enough.

see everyone knows that we need to go wide, ad that it's kind of our weakness. to me wildborn preserver it's our chance to "change gears" and attack differently. on that same philosophy i've been thinking also about Yorvo

This feels like a total game changer to me. Fetchable topdeck tutor that slows your self mill and guarantees a timewalk seems STRONG. I don't think I want to use 4 because I don't imagine I'll ever need that many but 2 of them plus 6-7 fetches seems correct.
    works well with god-eternal kefnet

Is there anyone still running classic 8 Whack in here? Because I'd love to post my Eldraine spoiler conclusion somewhere. And this seems most suited. While I'd love to also include vial gobbos in it as I really like the deck, I honestly don't think that I have the expertise to do so.

I was thinking of running 8 whack with Emberclave

Banning Looting is the final nail in the coffin of Modern. Hitting a wide swath of decks because people want less combo decks is dumb as hell. Modern will become a wasteland like Standard where 3-4 decks take control of the meta and nothing else will stand a chance. Expect a huge Tron revival now.

that's absurd. combo will still exist, but the majority like Modern better when it is slower and more interactive, which this does

This. You can still Storm out or attempt to Dredge or do other interactions, but decks won't feel obligated to just jam Faithless Looting because it's amazing.
As for Mystic, there's likely a supplemental set around the winter holidays, I expect to see it there.

    Storm doesn't even play looting.

people complaining about Looting being banned probably don't remember that everyone was playing surgical extraction mainboard already before hoogak was a thing, because of phoenix.

A meta where surgical extraction is played mainboard, is not a healthy meta.

Please-please let it be Wild West World.

ugh, to each his own I guess. A Wild west set would honestly make me stop playing for a while.

This deck did some work at the SCG con. It’s on the main page of SCG as of posting this, even better in their free section too.

looking for a new deck as at the moment my modern decks (taking turns and storm) aren't doing great. this seems lots of fun.
i've seen the article on scg and I really like that version (the fact that i only need to buy a couple of card to build it it's a definite plus lol)

is there a discord channel for this deck?

yeah, after some tests. It's not good enough.

so far, the new cards I'm excited to add to my ninja deck are ingenious infiltrator, changeling outcast, and faerie seer. the infiltrator and the unblockable changeling go nicely together. Already ordered 10 kamigawa islands from scg, to add some flavor to the deck. Smile

the one i'm most interested in is mist-syndicate naga. that card gets out of hand very quickly and steals games. especially in pair with tetsuko umezawa, fugitive

Hey everyone, with this website closing soon I've decided to make a modern ninjas discord. I've been for a while on the taking turns discord and I reckon it a great way to discuss things and exchange opinions on decks.
Please feel free to join and to share the link with other ninja enthusiasts.
See you there (or maybe not, cos ninjas are invisible)

I really Agree with the list above. Personally, I like splashing red for K. Command and Bolt, it adds reach to a rather slow/beatdown/tempo deck. As for the Naga ninja, I think that, without evasion or disruption (beyond only the Spellstutter), it is just bad. The card that could really make it go out of control is Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive, it REALLY takes games away if left unchecked, otherwise, it just gets walled by a lot of creature decks or token decks (even affinity can easily block a non-evasive 3/1). since we do have loads of wizards, I guess we could run Wizard's lightning also. as a 6-8th copy of bolt.

honestly considering the amount of wizards we have I'd play wizard's retort.
I don't know how useful Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive can be. the only creatures we play that have power or thoughness 1 either fly or are already unblockable. now if we play Mist-Syndicate Naga they would work together nicely.

omg I'm SO excited about the new ninjas! I think a key card is going to be changeling outcast: he's an enabler, he's a ninja for ingenious infiltrator, he's a fairy for spellstutter sprite, and we could go as far as saying that he's a wizard for wizard's retort (we have 12 wizards between spellstutter, faerie seer).
very important are also creatures with nice ETB effects to take advantage of bouncing them and playing them again. not only faerie seer and spellstutter sprite, but also watcher for tomorrow which gives us hideaway when comes in, and makes us draw when he goes out (and is a wizard).

Smoke shroud is cool...not sure how constructed playable is.
another card I'd be interested in trying siren stormtamer: enabler, protects ninjas from removal (and is a wizard).

I really like Narset, but I rackon is good only if you can really abuse her ability, and I don't mean dicates and mines, I mean day's undoing or echo of eons. which is why at the moment i'm testing without dictates and with day's instead.
