I do suggest having you Mirran Crusaders in the side incase of Jund and Rock/Junk if you're going with the Blade Splicer tactic.
Just as a 2 of or something.
They add a lot of extra card advantage, being to to, at end of turn, create tokens by bouncing your Blade Splicer is a HUGE bonus to running him. Also, Restoration Angel has 4 toughness, which is SUPER relevant in modern.
I l love mutavault but you have wildwood and you don't run splicer.
I won't go on about runed halo.....
Personally, I feel that Treetop Village is one of, if not the best manland around.
Certainly the best in green. Only time I'd EVER run Stirring Wildwood over Treetop Village is in a meta that HEAVILY favours flying over any other type of evasion.
Actually I have been tracking it for 3 years and it started rising dramatically in price well before boggle- about the time specualtors started jumping on fetches it basically doubled in Euros. Post boggle it nearly doubled again. Speculators love lands, and the market is partially driven by fear. They may print this type of land again.
I use 4 in nearly all white D T(pridemage and teeg excepted), 3 in boggle.....
Perversely the more green in a deck the less need for it- esecially if you run ooze.
Why only 3 in Boggle??
Also, it's not a Forest/Plains, why would it jump after Fetches??
I do hope they print these types of lands again...
My suggestion: Don't buy 4 Horizon Canopy. I have found that I don't like any more than two, and could not imagine running more than three in a pinch, and they are almost $40 a pop right now. Get two and then decide if you need more.
They are incredibly expensive. I guess it's because Boggle seems to have found some fame.
Yeah, I'll try the two.
I've also been thinking of Noble Hierarch, because turn 2 Loxodon Smiter/Blade Splicer and turn 3 Restoration Angel sounds fun. Thoughts?
Ulvenwald Tracker, while cute, came out in every matchup. Thus, he is being cut from the deck. Inquisitor Exarch only stayed in vs Red Deck Wins, which is a match-up I don't need his help in. He's being cut too.
In goes the fourth Thalia, Guardian of Thraben as I put her in in 2 of the 3 match-ups, and in my first match-up, I wouldn't have minded having the fourth either.
If your playing black I would go with Dark confidant and liliana OTV. Both of those are amazing
As mentioned above, I do want Bob in the deck, but I just don't have the money for him at the moment.
Liliana was a card I really wanted in the deck, but at 3 mana, in double black, not a creature and doesn't have abilities relevant to the deck itself, I don't feel it's necessary. (And considering I'm already running 8 removal spells and 6 hand distruption, I think I have enough of both considering I'm not a Jund deck.)
If you could afford it I would play 3-4x Deathrite Shaman, the potential to ramp, "eat" persist and undying guys plus stopping any random reanimation targets.
Otherwise I like the deck idea and I think it has potential.
I'd probably try and stuff Dark Confidant in here too, but I just like bob.
I already have sideboard hate for Undying/Persist (Samurai of the Pale Curtain), but I do see the need for it for ramp and more anti-snapcaster.
Good suggestions.
Bob has always been on my mind with this deck, but it's a bit on the expensive side for my tastes, I'll try and work towards it for sure though.
Hey guys, new deck I've been working on for a little bit now.
I have a homebrew G/W Hatebears deck and I've molded it into G/W/B Hatebears.
(My G/W homebrew deck went 4-0 in the last competetive tournament I went to)
Wanted to get some thoughts, constructive criticism and any feedback.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Precinct Captain has done beautiful things for me when I played the G/W version of this and I'm hoping it keeps up the good work, although he would probably be the first thing I replace.
I wasn't stating that he should remove it. I've never been a fan of Gideon in Modern because there is too much removal in the format. Terminate, Path to Exile, any of the 1B removal ... Add that 3 of the Ravinca Charms can get him too. The great thing about the addition of the planeswalker card was that there were so few target removal that can kill a walker. Gideon's ult allows for easy removal. If you do not have countermagic backup, like his deck does, then Gideon is a weak finisher in my opinion. I'll rather have Elspeth
You don't have to use him straight away, first turn you bring him out, he has summoning sickness, so you either +/- him depending on situations.
Next turn, you make a decision to TRY and smack them, you do this by judging how many cards he has in hand and how many/what counters you have available and other protection spells etc etc.
With Gideon, he's a threat at all times for 6 (almost indestructible) damage. You just have to judge a weakness and then crush it.
Or just sit back and play the control game, you are in R/U/W after all.
Not really a big fan of Gideon because he tends to die easily to targeted removal, but he well protected here with all that counter magic and flashback. Like I mention to many people running spell heavy American Superfriends, seriously consider Chandra, the Firebrand since she does direct damage, but the Reverberate ability gives you a lot of reach. Imagine, one turn, copy bolt for 6, then next turn, Chandra's minus, snap, bolt, 6 more damage. 12 life for net mana of 4 with just 3 cards (major card advantage there).
Gideon Jura in his deck seems to be the main wincon.
With all that protection and Jace, Architect of Thoughts' first ability, I can see it working well.
Gideon is a serious badass, if you've never played with him, I seriously suggest it.
HE'S SO RAD.
been running this deck since the release of Snapcaster.. it pulverized meta in my area which is pretty generic.. Jund, kiki/mel POD, kikitwin, robots, GR tron... then some random scabbs.
really nothing i would change.. all of the PW i run have an immediate board presence and FORCE players to over commit into board wipes.
any ideas id appreciate. or any holes in the always changing meta you can spot would be cool. thanks
4 cryptic commands O.O
That's...extreme, in my deck, I'd run two at MOST, if not only one.
Not sure counterflux needs to be in there, considering Storm is now...well, useless and Bloodbraid is banned too.
I think your deck needs a speed boost of some sort, I can see games going on faaaar too long with all those counters and removal, I'd run Geist of Saint Traft.
Gideon isn't JUST a win con, he's also just really good.
Also, This is what Venser, the Sojourner is in here for.
He bounces the Bridge allowing me to attack until end of turn. Jace Beleren+Ensnaring Bridge is a serious nonbo.
I made a primer for America Colors planeswalker deck, it's worth checking out, a little different than what you are trying to do, more budget, but it works
Mine feels more "sandbaggy" with the Ensnaring Bridge, while your deck seems to be quite wrath heavy and having cards in hand to protect your Walkers with.
With all due respect, sir, you haven't actually provided us that meta specific sideboard. I understand you have one, but not having the actual sideboard listed though you do have your meta listed doesn't necessarily mean we won't make redundant suggestions, as I already have.
If you're going to run porphyry nodes (and I wouldn't), it'll most likely hurt you more than help you, as several of your creatures and win conditions are quite low power (geist and wall of omens, for example).
Izzet charm is actually an excellent suggestion, as it filters away cards you don't need, spot removes pain in the butt early drops (like deathrite shaman), or interacts with the stack to save your bacon. I would probably not replace mana leak with it. Perhaps the tezzerets as someone else suggested? I would also note that as you admit dependence on ensnaring bridge and the interaction with tezzeret, how many turns do you have to wait to have 5 cards in hand to attack with an ensnaring bridge?
What does venser actually blink that is worth it? One of the other planeswalkers? Resetting a chandra or similar? This spot seems weak overall. I'd use other cards here as possible.
Elspeth would probably be stronger than lightning angel. She is arguably one of the two greatest walkers yet printed.
Sideboards are for meta's.
Showing my sideboard won't show people the power of the deck, merely the power of R/W/U, which people already know.
I think it's fairly stupid to show off a sideboard, since they vary so much between meta's, but hey ho, here you go:
I've taken out the Tezzerets for now, will test later.
Venser is a main win-con.
I can use him to reset planeswalkers that have either been hit/have ultimated and are still alive.
He also bounces Ensnaring bridge, allowing me to attack for the turn, bounces Wall of Omens to draw a card, makes creatures unblockable.
He's a serious powerhouse and I'm never upset to see him. (unless I already have one out)
I do suggest having you Mirran Crusaders in the side incase of Jund and Rock/Junk if you're going with the Blade Splicer tactic.
Just as a 2 of or something.

Certainly the best in green. Only time I'd EVER run Stirring Wildwood over Treetop Village is in a meta that HEAVILY favours flying over any other type of evasion.
Mutavault has no Synergy with this decklist.
Why only 3 in Boggle??
Also, it's not a Forest/Plains, why would it jump after Fetches??
I do hope they print these types of lands again...
Yeah, sorry, I meant I had two in my opening hand.
Thoughts?
My Decklist:
2x Ulvenwald Tracker
4x Leonin Arbiter
2x Inquisitor Exarch
3x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
3x Scavenging Ooze
2x Restoration Angel
3x Blade Splicer
2x Mangara of Corondor
3x Flickerwisp
3x Aven Mindcensor
3x Loxodon Smiter
4x Aethervial
Interrupts:
4x Path to Exile
Locations:
4x Razorverge Thicket
2x Sunpetal Grove
2x Brushland
1x Temple Gardens
3x Forest
3x Plains
2x Treetop Village
4x Ghost Quarter
1x Eiganjo Castle
1x Gavony Township
Sideboard:
1x Spellskite
1x Gaddock Teeg
2x Rest in Peace
1x Imposing Sovereign
1x Kor Firewalker
3x Mirran Crusader
1x Angel of Jubilation
2x Skylasher
2x Kitchen Finks
My games for the night:
Round 1: G/B Zombies
G1: Thalia keeps his Abrupt Decays at bay, double Treetop Vil e goes the rest of the way.
Side in: 3x Mirran Crusader, 2x Rest in Peace
Side out: 2x Ulvenwald Tracker 1x Inquisitor Exarch
G2: Mull to 6, which is where I find my Mirran Crusader. Yeah...That was a quick one.
Round 2: Red Deck Wins
G1: Double Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and keeping him on 1 land past turn 3 with 2 Path to Exile in hand won me the game. (I was VERY surprised I won game 1)
Side in: 1x Kor Firewalker, 2x Kitchen Finks, 1x Spellskite, 1x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
Side out: 2x Ulvenwald Tracker,
G2: Kitchen Finks and Kor Firewalker wreck everything.
Round 3: Grixis Control
G1: He powers removal out of his ass for 10 turns and then Damnations into Thundermaw Hellkite, along with Sedraxis Spectre he destroys me.
Side in: 2x Rest in Peace, 1x Gaddock Teeg, 2x Kitchen Finks, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
Side out: 2x Inquisitor Exarch, 2x Ulvenwald Tracker, 1x Leonin Arbiter, 1x Aven Mindcensor
G2: Keep 1 Land hand with 2 Aether Vials while I'm on the play. It pays off BEAUTIFULLY by being able to land a second land, turn 2 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Turn 3 Land into Scavenging Ooze, Race him with Treetop Vil e and Loxodon Smiters
G3: SUPER grindy, but I was always ahead in life and saved a few key creatures with Restoration Angels, exiled 2 Thundermaw Hellkites and a Creeping Tar Pit with 1 Mangara of Corondor!!
All in all, very powerful, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben help keep them slow until we can set up our mid-game, very VERY happy with it.
I know the mana base needs working, looking for Horizon Canopy x 4 and 1/2 more Temple Garden's, Also probably want 1 more Gavony Township.
Changes I've made for next week:
Ulvenwald Tracker, while cute, came out in every matchup. Thus, he is being cut from the deck.
Inquisitor Exarch only stayed in vs Red Deck Wins, which is a match-up I don't need his help in. He's being cut too.
In goes the fourth Thalia, Guardian of Thraben as I put her in in 2 of the 3 match-ups, and in my first match-up, I wouldn't have minded having the fourth either.
Going to be testing Dryad Militant as Grixis Control has Snapcaster and there was also an Unburial Rights deck and a Mystical Teachings deck there and I think that she replaces Ulvenwald Tracker quite nicely.
I present next weeks decklist:
3x Dryad Militant
4x Leonin Arbiter
4x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
3x Scavenging Ooze
2x Restoration Angel
3x Blade Splicer
2x Mangara of Corondor
3x Flickerwisp
3x Aven Mindcensor
3x Loxodon Smiter
4x Aethervial
Interrupts:
4x Path to Exile
Locations:
4x Razorverge Thicket
2x Sunpetal Grove
2x Brushland
1x Temple Gardens
3x Forest
3x Plains
2x Treetop Village
4x Ghost Quarter
1x Eiganjo Castle
1x Gavony Township
So, any suggestions??

+1 Abrupt Decay
Deck is now 60 cards
3 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
2 Qasali Pridemage
3 Gaddock Teeg
1 Eternal Witness
3 Aven Mindcensor
4 Dryad Militant
3 Tidehollow Sculler
4 Knight of the Reliquary
7 Interrupts:
3 Abrupt Decay
3 Path to Exile
3 Mana Tithe
5 Slowpokes:
3 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Maelstrom Pulse
1 Sejiri Steppe
1 Quicksand
1 Ghost Quarter

2 Swamp
1 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
2 True Believer
3 Suppression Field
2 Loxodon Smiter

2 Torpor Orb
I already have sideboard hate for Undying/Persist (Samurai of the Pale Curtain), but I do see the need for it for ramp and more anti-snapcaster.
Good suggestions.
Bob has always been on my mind with this deck, but it's a bit on the expensive side for my tastes, I'll try and work towards it for sure though.

Aven Mindcensor over Leonin Arbiter because we run Fetches and Knight of the Reliquary.
Precinct Captain has done beautiful things for me when I played the G/W version of this and I'm hoping it keeps up the good work, although he would probably be the first thing I replace.
Loxodon Smiter because Wilt-Leaf Liege costs £8 each...
I know I need new lands (including a Horizon Canopy which costs a lot), but I just want to get the base of the deck down first.
Thanks in advance!!

No Elspeth, Knight-Errant?
No Pyroclasm??
No Ensnaring Bridge?
I would never run a decklist of SuperFriends without Bridge man...
In your deck of heavy removal, I'd consider Chandra, the Firebrand, double Lightning Helix seems nasty.
I really like the Jace, Architect of Thought in here to be honest, He works wonders with Gideon Jura.
I think your deck needs a speed boost of some sort, I can see games going on faaaar too long with all those counters and removal, I'd run Geist of Saint Traft.
EDIT: Cut a cryptic, go down to 60 cards.
Gideon isn't JUST a win con, he's also just really good.

3 Izzet Charm

3 Wall of Omens
3 Mana Leak
4 Ensnaring Bridge
3 Geist of Saint Traft
3 Ajani Vengeant
1 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
2 Gideon Jura
2 Venser, the Sojourner
1 Chandra Nalaar
Swapped the Contagion Engines, Lightning Angel and Tezzeret the Seeker with 3 Izzet Charm and 2 Porphyry Nodes

Yeah, seriously considering an extra elspeth.
