How does this deck beat a deck which doesn't necessarily rely on attacking with creatures to win? The only thing it really focuses on controlling is creatures without much interaction with the stack, from what i can see.
Sideboard is always handy, Mine is meta specific, lots of creature heavy decks, Naya, Jund, Pod etc etc.
If Ensnaring Bridge is what you want to be doing, why bother with Tezzeret? Why don't you just play a Spell Snare or even Supreme Verdict in his spot? I guess it seems to me inefficient to play one card that can fetch one other card (if that even makes sense).
As this is a tapout control deck, it seems like it REALLY wants 2-4 Supreme Verdict for sure as it seems like you can get into a situation with a live Gideon and no way to wrath to stop the onslaught. (other than pyroclasm)
As I tested this deck more and more, I came to the conclusion that Wraths (aside from pyroclasm) weren't needed. This may be different in other meta's, but Tezzeret the Seeker+Contagion Clasp is just so awesome. Some really tingly nerd shivers come over me when I play this guy with these two artifacts in the deck.
Also, I feel I want to be controlling the board instead of wrathing it, this way, my Geist stays alive to win out the game for me, instead of just wrathing and having nothing but planeswalkers left and no real way of winning.
You don't seem do take advantage of Tezzeret, so I would cut him. I guess a fast enough list would focus on Ajani, Elspeth and Jace Beleren (distinct lack of card advantage otherwise).
I'd reconsider.
He tutors Ensnaring Bridge straight away, he fetches Contagion Clasp (Which is a godsend vs Pod as long as you keep Melira off the field)
He's also a potential win-con late game, becauseall your bridges/clasps become 5/5's and just smack 'em.
Got this decklist I'd quite like help with.
I took it to my last magic night, went up against Jund, G/W Enchant/Hexproof, U/B Fae and an Unburial Rites deck.
It beat every deck there except the Jund deck which BARELY beat me 2-1.
Anyone got any hints/tips for anything I could try out??
Any magical cards that will be awesome??
You shoukd try to hit some ptqs or other large tournys. This deck could go all the way if its tuned right. My meta is infested with gost, I figured it was like that everywhere.
Nope, my whole meta dislikes control, another shocking revelation, how can anyone dislike control??! THE PLOT CHICKENS.
Only been playing for a year, not sure whether I'm ready for a PTQ or not.
Your list has so much ulility mb, you prolly want need your sb too much. You should do really well at fnm, I would conisder supreme verdict in your 75. Being able to kill giest of saint traft in a timely manner has become a big deal.
No-one but me plays Geist in my meta Shocking, I know...
I love how versatile the mb of this deck is.
Can handle anything, aww yiss.
Fire and ice is not in modern, there are your 3 electrolyze slots. You want 3 of them, trust me. Dawn charm is just a 2 mana outwit. Look at my sig sb, and other quad control decks, you dont want a clown car sb for fnm, you want allot of 2s and 1s. And I dont like PTEs in sb, I call those extra cards, cards you cant make up your mind about in the mb so you toss them in the sb. You need more hate in your sb.
Oh...thought it was modern legal...WOOPS!
(In goes Electrolyze)
They're brilliant sideboard card, I'd prefer to use other removal that doesn't give them advantages, but sometimes, damage based removal just isn't enough to deal with those bigger creatures. So, PTE goes in side.
Looks really fun, and delver is crazy good right now, with the curse of jund lifted.
Personaly, I would add colonede and tar pit, and try to fit some electrolize in there.
If I had the land base I would put this together, and try it. Sideboard needs some work though
Yeah, that's just my general sideboard for my FNM as I play with Blade Splicers and Geist of Saint Traft, which works well with Sundering Growth.
Also, Trickbind IS AMAZING.
In a Meta of Tron, Junk, Splintertwin, Storm and Fae, this thing is wonderful. Meddling Mage kills combo and Tron.
Path is for things that need exiling, like Wurmcoil Engine. And thing with high Toughness.
I thought long and hard about Electrolyze when I wanted a 3 drop. Just thought Esper Charm better.
Also, what are your thoughts on Dawn Charm and Grixis Charm??
I'm not sure about the Lightning Angel myself.
I've just always been a fan of it but never had the chance to use it.
Need some Man-Lands.
Possibly a single Creeping Tar Pit and a single Celestial Colonnade
A. Galepowder mage is a card I like. how good is it in here? Is it only good as a 1 of? I think it works well with your detain plan, but maybe not as well as a 3rd restoration angel, which would increase consistency somewhat.
B. Outside of wall of omens, I see very little direct card draw in here, and that one is more card replacement. You aren't really playing a control deck without more card advantage, though I will admit that the amount of detain in here does work well as a form of soft control. I foresee problems against hexproof or protection: white.
C. Lingering souls tokens are everywhere. Maybe more detention sphere sideboard? This deck is largely geared towards dealing with creatures, so I can't see the reason for having supreme verdict in the side.
D. In a similar vein, why the lone gifts? It's several of me or none at all, in my opinion. It doesn't really help consistency anymore than one more cloudshift would. Same question applies for the other lone cards, whereas the galepowder mage is simply a repeatable version of what your deck already does.
A. Galepowder Mage is super boss like, because he can bounce their creatures out so they have one less blocker and can get off multiple activations on your blade splicers. HOWEVER, his ability is NOT a may ability, so playing him on an open field is stupid because he just bounces himself, he's slow because he works on attacking, not on ETB. He's more of a late game thing that if I draw, is really cool, or I can Gifts Ungiven for him.
B. Wall of Omens is a very good card, especially in my meta, where there are some serious Aggro decks flying around. It's a replacable card in many other meta's, but for me it's a must just to help stay alive.
C. I would put more Detention Sphere's in the side over Supreme Verdict, but I just don't have any more than two. lol, if you make this deck, I gighly suggest what you just said.
D. It's something I'm never hateful towards when I top deck. Worst case scenario, I have an open field and I just tutor up 4 different power creatures. Or I can tutor up that winning piece of removal. I thoroughly enjoy playing with Gifts and I just couldn't resist not playing one, and considering this deck is already 61 cards, I refuse to add any more and cannot think of anything else to cut for one or two more.
By posting on these forums you are initially asking for opinions. Don't ask for opinions just to shove them back. If you only wanted gratitude for your deck building skills go elsewhere.
Whoa, calm down there.
I am asking for thoughts and criticism.
I just think yours are/is wrong.
I've play tested this against all the decks I listed above.
This is not true, I played with delver for a long time and found him stale and boring, then I played creature based tempo, with Lyev Skyknights and Flickerwisps, oh god the joy, the fun.
You should try playing sometime too, because with Delver, you're not playing...You're just not...
Again, I have a sideboard.
Never short on partyfact/enchantment hate.
Sideboard is always handy, Mine is meta specific, lots of creature heavy decks, Naya, Jund, Pod etc etc.
Just tune your sideboard to your meta.
As I tested this deck more and more, I came to the conclusion that Wraths (aside from pyroclasm) weren't needed. Also, I tried Jace Beleren but he was AWFUL with Ensnaring Bridge which is the main part of the deck.

Nope, my whole meta dislikes control, another shocking revelation, how can anyone dislike control??! THE PLOT CHICKENS.

lol, I was thinking "Charming Control".
But I'll consider "Lucky Charms".
