Maybe I'm underrating this, but it does not feel like a Mythic to me.
I think you're underrating this. In topdeck mode it's a 2/2 for 3 with a Divination attached to it, while early in the game it's potentially a 4/4 split into three bodies that filters your draws. It even gives you two blockers for 5 when he dies. That's a fantastic rate for a simple rare if the set has a good amount of card filtering and graveyard interactions. Maybe not the splashiest Mythic, but still better in this spot than others we've seen in the past...
Interesting card for Mardu Pyromancer (if people is still interested in this deck), for Phoenix and even for a more fair Goryo's Vengeance deck... nice card indeed, it shouldn't be too valuable but there will be surely a time when it will find a home in Modern. If that's the standard we can expect for the set I'm not complaining at all, but prices for the boxes will have to get down a bit to meet my expectations... and my wallet too!
The more times passes, the more a little glowing feeling takes control of my essence: we, Magic community, are more or less the brainfart of humanity...
More on topic: it's a bit strange that they didn't take the chance to reprint a couple of good PWs like Kaya, Ghost Assassin or Daretti, Scrap Savant, which would perfectly fit into Modern without beeing oppressive... well, I'm sure there will be plenty of good cards to sell the product regardless of the number of PWs. I'm very interested in Modern Horizons but I'm not going to spend 180$ to order a box whose printing isn't limited like old Masters set. I'll let speculators grab all the first printing and then complain when a new wave will arrive and the prices will be more realistic.
My speculation: no theme, just cool decks like in 2018, but each of them with a high profile reprint and a couple of other solid ones. We're in non-Masters set territory after all...
I wouldn't mind a "planes set" though, it was my speculation a couple of years ago. In that case, I think Dominaria, Innistrad, Alara and Kamigawa could be viable options, although Kamigawa has already received some amount of spotlight through the Dragons and Esper deck in the last two years... I excluded Zendikar because the Jund deck from 2018 basically cuts its wings.
I don't understand why people keep forgetting a couple of basic financial lessons:
A) Reprints cause cards to lose value
B) Cards whose cost depends only on the number of copies available tank after a large reprint.
The only two cards that are really valuable here are PtE and RiP, with Worship following those two. You'll find the other 5 around 1$ immediatly after the release because they're either marginal or unplayed.
I'm not saying it's a bad product: the art is gorgeous and I will purchase it for sure if I find it at the right price, but it's not the super product some people are implying it is and I think we can safely put as a fact that it contains less playable cards than Jace's one, too.
Just a quick thought: am I completely fool to see Stoneforge Mystic and the five missing ally colors swords coming with this set? It seems like the perfect fit for them, and a five Mythic Rare Artifact cycle shouldn't be too hard a constraint to overcome. Moreover, if they don't do it here I really don't see another product where to put them, because even the Commander precons would be really, really risky if their power level match the bestones...
As Stoneforge Mystic is already modern legal, it is not going to be in Modern Horizons.
It is not Modern legal, beeing banned from the birth of the format. I know it's a little loophole, but it is technically correct.
In any case, they could release new swords while unbanning SFM and see what it brings to the format...

I take both Shardless Agent and (even more) Baleful Strix as a given for this set. These are the first two reprints that come to my mind, along with monocolor cycling lands.
As for the two spoiled cards, both are good but decently powered for Modern I guess. Can't wait for June!
I'd bet they will end up with "an instant & sorceries only Prowess": easy to understand, quite easy to implement in many worlds without strangely messing up with artifact or enchantment themes or triggering too easily in every environment. There's no way an overlapping UR keyword isn't connected to spells.
In fact, last year's metagame was heavily balanced around KLD and AKH blocks, and less XLN cards than now were competitive; DOM cards like Teferi were already competitive, but DOM was too new to be inside the product
Teferi wasn't 'already competitive', DOM wasn't even out yet. Last year's challenger decks came out three weeks before DOM.
My bad, probably because we already knew the card beacuse of the mega leak. That doesn't change the point on XLN very much though.
I hope Teferi's in one of them so I can pick up some more. I got mine at $13 (lol!) and I'm not paying $50 for another.
In Gavin’s interview with the Professor, he was torn about saying the answer. He seemed to want to say yes, but obviously can’t. He also mentioned how the Chandra/Hazoret challenger deck was the ‘IT’ deck when they announced them. I don’t think he wanted to say yes that Teferi is one of the decks and over hype it and make it automatically the ‘IT’ deck. He probably wants the other decks to get a fair chance.
The other challenger deck got a fair chance since we didn’t know Chandra was in one ahead of time. If people did, nobody would have bothered to give the other decks a glance.
That's also my concern, but I hope this year's product will be a bit more in line with GRN Standard. In fact, last year's metagame was heavily balanced around KLD and AKH blocks, and less XLN cards than now were competitive; DOM cards like Teferi were already competitive, but DOM was too new to be inside the product, so I think that this time we could get a couple of decks (likely Drakes and Boros Weenie) that could be around 90% perfectly listed, except for the manabases... and Boros could easily have a nicer manabase since it is so cheap otherwise.

I'd really like to make an EDH deck as soon as I catch a copy of it, it will be a lot of fun I think.
