Thanks for the imput, ill try to get something working with your tips in mind
The Baloth was just a dumb beater, cause i felt i needed something to capitalice a soft lock and seal the deal before the opponent recovers, but i can see what you mean.
If you got some matches with your deck and find a new cool version of it post it!!
Even worse is that it doesnt work with flickerwisp, not in the way of re-exiling / re-target another spell since when exiled with flickerdude the queller would enter eot
Still 3 mana for a non-definitive counterspell agains a sweeper could be worth it
Yes, its 3 mana, and in a colour thats not red nor green, but i belive it has some potential specially as a sweeper counter and i like the synergy with eldrazi displacer.
Yes, they are both 3 mana slots, and that would be mana intensive, but if we travel to wishland, you could flash this guy, counter the sweeper, and if someone tries to swords it, you could displace this queller guy to avoid the swords, and re-exile the spell before it resolves. Am i right with this reasoning??
really good job lithl for the rules references!
@op you could just stand up on the chair, that way you arent "leaving your sit"..
but yeah id ask the head judge, or you could stand up and move your legs and back a bit between games (just in front of your chair)
Hello guys, long time lurker here, and im delurking to comment about Jötun Grunt cause ive run him from time to time in some matches. Yes, its a hard hitter and against a goyf i think it holds its value. The thing is that i dont think its very effective against a Dig Through Time cause the moment we drop it, they have a whole turn to cast it and make their yard dry, and then we only get a turn (or 2 if ours has some stuff on it) of value. Still in some matches he has been very usefull against dtt, but im not sure if its worth the slot (what do you take out to make room for him?). But perhaps ill sleeve 2 of them (i played with one maindeck) so that i test him a bit more.
Another thing is that you run rip on game 2-3, what do you do with jotun? he goes to the sb?
Hello guys, i started to build my own mono u faery deck and this is what i came up. Its kind of on a budget, since this would be my secondary deck and i dont plan to spend too much on it (at least for now)
But in spite of that, id like to get some opinions, always thinking about being mono U (so no splashforge mystic, and no baleful strix
Cloud of Faeries vs ornithopter
-> cloud is a faerie so its cool with Spellstutter Sprite
-> cloud goes for 1 dmg
-> cloud net cost is 0
but.....
-> orni net cost is also 0 but can be played on turn 1, and on turns that for some reason i dont have 2 mana initially open (ie: i ninjutsu Ninja of the Deep Hours and i dont have two mana open to cast again the returned cloud, but i could cast again the orni
->althought1 dmg is more than 0 per turn it isnt dealbreaking...
so thats one point...
The other is why no love for standstill. The thing is that although 3 cards are awesome, i must have a beneficial board state to cast it, and having a couple of 1/1 flying or 2/2 on foot isnt what i think of an advanced board state. You may say that "you can attackjutsu through standstill" but i dont think that a 2/2 draw a card bear would mean a lot of advancement. Yes i could ninjutsu a mishra, and then put in on play again without triggering standstill, but i still belive that without a "heavier hitting" creature on board (like a batterskull perhaps) or an Æther vial to put creatures into play like merforlk, standstill isnt worth it
First id like to say: Spooky u rock!! I love legacy almost as i like to keep my money on my wallet
If i may, id like to see more budget control decks, since its my favourite type of deck.
On toppic, would be viable to use tendrils of agony instead of Sickening Dreams? I know that if u cast silence u dont have to worry about your wincon countered, but tendrils has a built in protection against counters
About the idea to combine infect with scavange i think it isnt a good idea since you would have to dilute the control side of the deck, which means your infect creatures will have less protection
But in Magic a doom blade consistently gets out a stormbreath dragon despite the huge discrepancy in price. I'm glad to see cards like heroes downfall shoot to $9 and up. That's the price players need to be paying for quality removal if the format continues to be so attached to the price of cards.
So instead of balancing the cards by (oh err i dont know) its mana cost, or its limitations we balance cards by they price? Good! Now we dont play lands to cast spells, we play dolars to cast spells
Things like doom blade shortens the breach between the rich and the budgeteers, which from my silly pov is good.
Anyhow, why standard is so great?? From wizards pov because its sells a lot, and i really mean a lot. Legacy on the other hand doesnt sell so good. So think about it, if standard sells more than legacy then standard is more expensive (on the long run) than legacy (or modern)
Yes restrictions are good for creativity, and i think the best restriction ever is to be competitive. Thats why on a format with "the same staples over and over" there are more than 45 different tier 1 decks and 20 tier 1.5 (rogue??) decks
Standard right now has 1 thing in favor: its very very very easy to find people to play with
Well u have many options. One is to print proxies of the cards and start goldfishing. Another is to do the same but play with it against a friend.
In addition you could use one of the many free programs like virtualplaytable, mtgworkstation or cockatrice to play online games with your deck.
Well, I was playing my brother the other day and he was running a white weenie/equipment deck he's had forever.. I'm running this dippy little Control Magic themed deck that runs basically (literally?) no creatures.
We're playing along and I'm grabbing everything he drops and he's Wrathing it away. I'm smiling.. This happens a few times when I hear him mumble: "I'll just stop playing creatures.."
I'm like.. "Oh crap. I think you just won the game." I think I actually DO have a playset of Faerie Conclave in there but at the time, it had been SO long since I'd even played this particular deck I couldn't remember, and coupled with the humor level of the situation, I just let it go.
NOTE TO SELF: ADD A FEW WINCONS NEXT TIME /dumbassery
you should add a single storm crow as your finisher.... lol
The Baloth was just a dumb beater, cause i felt i needed something to capitalice a soft lock and seal the deal before the opponent recovers, but i can see what you mean.
