Unless its a sactioned tournament you should proxy.

No point in spending $1000 to play a game on a kitchen table.

Sounds easily broken, meta wont be diverse, would require a massive banlist, etc.

I can already see zoo being the highest percentage of the meta as its pretty much a 1cmc deck anyways.

Also if you dont ban the power, I'd put 4 of each in my deck because it gives me an excuse to crack open a few low grade cards I got graded.

You have 3 types of control players:
Ones that think its fun but are terrible at playing it.(most)
Those who are good at it because they run game theory in their head at all times.(players like shota and finkel)
Those who are good at it like the above but play other decks because playing control holds no challenge 99% of the time.

If youre playing control for fun, youre doing it wrong.
Its always been viable, it just gets harder to play each year.

I am thinking of getting into pauper and I see that UR drake and Affinity are really popular decks.

Does side-boarding Blood Seeker vs. UR drake infinite mana combo and Disciple of the Vault vs. Affinity make any sense?
drake got banned a week or so ago.
So you do a judge call and there isnt a game 2.

Yes indeed. Currently faeries make out 0% of the meta. While in 2015 it made out an astoneshing 0% of the meta during Splinter Twins prime, as opposed to the 2% in 2014. I honestly do not think splinter twin affects the outcome that much.

I do not the raw data suporting your claim that splinter twin affects how much faeries is played, and I suspect you contribute coinsidents as coralation.

Faeries needs a new Lorwyn block. There are not enough cards to suport the tribe. To bad there was not some good faeries in Magic Origins. I also don't think there will be more faeries in Almokesh.

    Also never said popular.
The deck is similar to how bant company is set up but its not bant normally.

Its a deck a few local groups have been testing out and we all said if twin was in the format they might run it since its so popular and this wrecks twin.
The meta is what ever pros say it is, not what is best.

Faeries was not videly played during splinter twin. Even at the topp of it's game s.t. only made out 10% of the field. Faeries had a bad matchup against the remaining meta, even if s.t. was unbanned. The s.t. discussion is also not on topic as the card is banned.

Current meta if twin wasnt banned.
I never said it would be a good deck, just said it would be played more often.

All I said before was basically "this format is too aggro based, if twin wasnt banned you'd see more faeries. lnstead we have spirits being the same type of deck."

    Instead we have spirits.

Where did you draw this wild and asinine conclusion from?

From knowledge of how humans think and how metas work.
If they legalized splintertwin everyone would go back to that so a deck like faeries works better because it has a better tempo against twin.
You should test a current faeries deck against splinter twin and come back to me.

My team is brewing my personal home brew decks that are highly unique and amazing.
The boyfriend of our token female though is bring grixis control which is causing him to want to quit playing.
We told him we'd make him a deck also, but he thinks they are bad and only netdecks ones that win tournaments.

If you're desperate to play control do BW or mardu.
Use shamble back, sounds janky but it wins on delirium match ups.

Awesome! Thanks for your help! I was guessing it was white or black. Halfway there I guess...
I saw the stars on the black creature and the armor on the humans, knew it was theros.
The coloring and the central focus which pointed at red or white.
    Looked like an instant.
So searched theros block instant and found it.
Turn out it was both colors.

Personally I'm calling the group 'terrible' and the specific combinations:
    SuperJanky(Greenless)
    Bad Person Tribal(redless)
    Rich Person Tribal(Whiteless)
    Racist(blackless)
    Garbage(Blueless)

Here's the thing. I picked the modern section of the forums because a lot of the cards in the Magic Origins Deckbuilder's Toolkit are too old for standard. The decks I play against are usually Standard. They don't care that my deck is older, we play just for fun.
Well its a format where a single land is your entire budget and the mana base cant be altered by much.

Best advice is to look at the casual more fun formats like bad tribal(which actually caused me to spend $1500 to bling out my deck because full art damnations match my personality and everything else is russian) or get them to let you use cockatrice.

$20 budget even in casual modern is hard for anything past monogreen or monored and thats even a bit of a stretch. You can do it for standard, which technically is modern but with the card pools we have strictly better cards in some areas.

If you have no chance of winning any games then you'll start hating the game fast.

    1. All I own is the cards in the Magic Origins Deckbuilder's Toolkit, plus a few extra cards (most notably a second Nightmare). The semi-random sets I got were the BW Auras, UR Spellcraft, WG Aggro, and UB Exploit.

    2. I don't have any colors in particular I like to play; I haven't played long enough. I will say, I had much more success with my RG deck over my WB deck. I also made a BG deck, but it was terrible. I've never played a blue deck before, but I would like to try one.

    3. My WB deck had a lot of flying and deathtouch, and the RG deck included a lot of spamming smaller creatures while buffing up huge creatures like Heroes' Bane, Shivan Dragon, and Terra Stomper. Burn decks are also fun. I don't really know any of the "official" things to call these decks.

    4. My budget is around $20. I usually spend my money more towards Pokémon, but everyone I know plays Magic. That's why my budget is so limited. (Also, I have almost no money)

    5. I play at a beginner's casual level. Not planning to go to any FNM meets or anything special like that. I'm also not sure what this question is asking.

Get your friends into pauper instead of modern. The cheapest modern casual deck I have is monogreen aggro and that runs around $60.
The closest thing I have to casual at least.
Living end can be built for around $100 since past a few cards most just a playset of a $15 card and the lands itd almost all commons

Besides dozens upon dozens of youtube channels and reddit.
Best thing to do is pick a format as they changed, extended is gone and modern replaced it to an extent.
Type 2 is now standard, block formating changed too.
Legacy is probably what youre used to but its stupidly expensive to get into.

Honestly I also liked kamigawa but I'll admit it was really boring, but anthropomorphic rats made it worth while.

There is a ton if resources now and its quite over whelming.
