Primeval Titan
It's such a unique and powerful ramp card.

Jul 5, 2013Asenion posted a message on Mafia StatsIt's kind of sobering to actually post my stats. I thought I was like the best mafia player ever with 90% win rates, especially after the broken set-ups were removed. I guess I was wrong.Posted in: Asenion Blog

Hopefully we will find out the creature types soon.
I've said that from the beginning. I also really like their on-curve beaters at common and their charm is probably the strongest one for limited. My biggest concern after seeing all the cards is the fact that they have too many cards at 6/7/8 mana and not quite enough low cost stuff. If I get good ramp in my pool that might be fine, otherwise I'll have quite a few unplayable cards. (Although the fact that their guild promo lets/makes me run 18 lands will help with that a bit.)
Multicolor formats tend to be slow and creatures with splashable costs are even better there because they fit in multiple strategies.
If you are in this card's preferred strategy of Golgari, then you are also quite possibly able to use turn 5 to scavenge counters onto it before swinging. This means you would likely kill multiple creatures on the swing. (+ of course giving all your other dudes unblockable.)
Lure in Golgari colors is fantastic. 2/2s for 4 are not unplayable in slower formats. (Which most multicolor sets are.) 2/2s for 4 which give all your other creatures unblockable win games... And I haven't even touched on the fact that this is an aura buff once it hits the graveyard as well.
So there is that. However, a 6/6 for 4 in black is pretty good and might see play. Either way, it's rather hard to argue that this is worse than Juzam unless you are seriously playing Juzam because you need blockers.
I feel like the mana cost might be too high for a counterspell, but otherwise it's a pretty exciting card.
If they ever run out of expendable chump blockers, he is immediately far better than Juzam. And Juzam should be equally bad in situations where they have chumpers.
Also, Battle of the Wits probably plays the gates just because they like all the dual lands they can get. (And 5-color Battle of the Wits should easily be a thing with this many duals.)
This is exactly my thought. It seems like a strong way to start a draft. IRL I would obviously take the shockland for the money. Even without the money though, the shockland is probably my second choice because of how important mana fixing tends to be in multicolor sets.
Lol! Maybe in the first few drafts of the format. Do NOT expect good mana fixing to wheel in a multi-color set.
It's not a legitimate counter to anything. It's not playable in a Black/Green Zombie or Self-Mill deck. It's not playable anywhere. I do not like green eggs and ham.
