Mirran Crusader needs a big mention in the Melira POD matchup, as that's the main reason many are mainboarding it now. It tends to just end the game very quickly against Melira POD.
Good sideboard cards against Scapeshift:
Leyline of Sanctity
Runed Halo (naming Valakut, the molten pinnacle)
Fulminator Mage
Liliana of the Veil
Burrenton Forge-Tender (Protection against red sweepers)
Aven Mindcensor
Tectonic Edge
Good sideboard cards against GR Tron:
Stony Silence
Fulminator Mage
Aven Mindcensor
Tectonic Edge
Ghost Quarter
Burrenton Forge-Tender (Protection against red sweepers)
Pithing Needle or Oblivion Ring against Karn.
Good sideboard cards against Storm:
Rest in Peace
Leyline of Sanctity
Runed Halo (naming Grapeshot)
Liliana of the Veil (reducing their hand is important)
Zealous Persecution (killing goblin swarm)
Also Rule of Law, Ethersworn Canonist etc., but I don't think we need that narrow cards when we have so many other good answers.
Bogles:
Runed Halo (usually naming bogle or the hexporoof elf)
Liliana of the Veil (or other cards with an edict effect)
Mirran Crusader
Zealous Persecution (on the play you can sweep their 1/1 hexproof creature in response to an aura spell)
Enchantment removal like Disenchant or Oblivion Ring
Traitor, joining the enemy...
I see your point. But Pyroclasm is actually another situation where Mikaeus can save us. Even if Mikaeus only has one counter (and will die himself), at least he can pump your 2/2 Goblin Guide and 2/2 Figure of Destiny(Warrior) out of Pyroclasm-range at instant speed (if he doesn't have summoning sickness that is).
What do you think about Silverblade Paladin in boros?
With 14 one drop creatures I think the deck is fast and aggressive enough as it is. Mikaeus, the Lunarch makes the deck a bit more sturdy, and have been a savior and a success in several games I've played with boros landfall lately. The continuous input of fetchlands boros landfall so heavily depend on, often fails to some degree, so that you'll be stuck with a bunch of too weak creatures. Mikaeus can pump them, and I like the flexible mana cost. He can also be fetched with Ranger of Eos (, and even be hasted if brought in with Goblin Bushwacker), and he works well with the double strikers. I am considering to only have one of him though.
Ajani Goldmane loses to Ranger of Eos for the 4 drop space.
Just think about it:
Turn one - Plains, Steppe Lynx
Turn two - Arid mesa (fetch Mountain) , Plated Geopede -> hit for 4
Turn three - Arid mesa (fetch Plains) , Silverblade Paladin (bond with Plated Geopede ) -> hit for 14
Could be very strong, but off course, vulnerable to removal...
I made the following list:
4 Goblin Guide
4 Steppe Lynx
1 Goblin Bushwhacker
2 Mikaeus, the Lunarch
2 Grim Lavamancer
4 Plated Geopede
3 Silverblade Paladin
2 Ranger of Eos
4 Lightning Helix
3 Path to Exile
2 Sacred Foundry
4 Marsh Flats
4 Arid Mesa
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Plains
2 Mountain
3 Teetering Peaks
What do you think?
