The Flamespeakers and Temple are just in there because I only have one each and they seemed fun, and Guided Passage isn't even modern legal but it's awesome, especially when I also was running 3 Steam Augury's alongside it -- the deck kind of had a "opponent chooses" thing going on.
Anyway, my deck is more of a ramp list using Plasm Capture to accelerate into huge bombs like Ultimatums and stuff. I've been tweaking it forever and I'm not really sure what else to do with it...
Perhaps they are playing a mono-black deck? Or they are playing Esper colors and do not want to go four colors? I don't want to get into the whole "strictly worse" argument here, but the card you chose did not exactly make your point well.
As someone who plays a mono-black control deck, there are much better options even in mono-black than victim of night - Dismember and Geth's Verdict combined with Gatekeeper of Malakir have always done right by me.
Hey guys, I'm really itching to build a deck around Plasm Capture. I'm not sure about RUG because Huntmaster is totally out of my price range. Same goes for Sphinx's Revelation.
Any ideas? Casting Cruel Ultimatum off a Plasm Capture seems cute.
Chandra really isn't bad at all. I think some of you just have high standards. That. Or you're just overly spoiled. Chandra Nalaar is one of the best red Walkers, if not THE best. Either way. Chandra has never been horrible, she just didn't have a place in established tournament decks, and as we all know, that is what MTG revolves around, right?
Right?!
Why not brew a deck instead and see for yourself how good the Chandra's are?
- Hiss.
Really? Koth of the Hammer is better than any version of Chandra, and he barely gets played anymore.
Hey man, I also have been trying to work with Plasm Capture as well. I've been going in a different direction though -- here's what I've got so far:
4 Island
3 Mountain
3 Flooded Grove
3 Cascade Bluffs
2 Simic Guildgate
2 Gruul Guildgate
1 Temple of Mystery
2 Kessig Wolf Run
2 Overbeing of Myth
2 Huntmaster of the Fells
1 Prophetic Flamespeaker
2 Hydra Broodmaster
4 Cyclonic Rift
4 Farseek
3 Cultivate
3 Guided Passage
4 Plasm Capture
3 Primeval Bounty
3 Urban Evolution
2 Cruel Ultimatum

I haven't seen much of him after the dust settled down after M14's release.
Is there anything to him besides "play lots of green creatures and/or ramp?"
