7 matches of magic on mtgo today. 5 against eldrazi decks, 1 against affinity, 1 against some crappy tooth and nail deck. Point is...5/7??? Of course inb4 Sample size observations but clearly the PT exposed a flaw that may need to be remedied quickly. People are flocking to this deck online still however, and it seriously makes me not want to play online right now. Call me Cam Newton (sore looser) if you will, but i miss the modern format we all came to love in the first place.

Back to legacy I suppose...i just wish it was more popular onlin :/

Trade with gold members. Most of these guys own stores or are very serious about trading and finance in general. They are the least likely to rip you off, and the most likely to get things out in a timely manner.

This may seem disheartening for some because 90 bucks a year to trade on a platform with lots of question marks seems risky, but Im here to tell you, once i reeived that little gold emblem next to my name its funny how many cards i started receiving...

Remember, they gift you 3k points (30 dolalrs trade value) and give you more bonus's for user signups. If you shell out the 90, make sure you use this to your advantage and it may end up not costing you much in the end Smile

So lately ive really been getting the helmet head from mtgo. I recently started playing again. I consider myself an above average player. I play jund in modern, and generally play 8 mans and as many dailies as I can. At one point my constructed rating was 1794. Sure maybe not professional grade, but I was happy with that number.

Anyway, since that point my match recors is 6-22!!! Thats absurd. If im not getting constantly mana screwed or mulliganing to 6 or 5 seems like every other match, my opponenet is drawing his god hand and crushing me. On top of that, I cannot believe the dumb like in pairings lately. As i Sit here now, ive lost in round 1 of 7 consecutive 8 mans. $ of which i played against tron, 2 of which i played against amuloet bloom, and 2 of which i played against burn. LOL. Are you kidding me. Nightmare for the jund player.

So obviously Im salty, and i need to play better and stop tilting yada yada. but im sure other have terrible periods of running bad they would like to share :). At this point my constructed rating is down to 1640...sigh...

This has hapopened before, and it eventually caused me to quit mtgo and just play more IRL events. I dont seem to have the rediculous bad luck i have on mtgo.

Cursed Scroll. I was in 7th grade when tempest came out. I pulled the scroll and I remember being so excited because I got a hand ful of boosters for the card from the store I bought it from. Was a no brainer for me at the time.

If you expect a fair meta game, running zero thoughtseizes seems smart and cleary it worked out well for him. Im personally not a fan of 3x baleful strix, seems like cutting one makes room for one thoughtseize if you so desire, but what else would you cut?

Another note, I think the need to splash white for meddling mage is gone. I was never a fan of this strategy in the first place, but i can see why people tried it. Omni tell was such a horrid matchup. Naming show and tell with a meddling mage was one of the few things we could do to stop them. Now that Dig Through Time is gone, i fully expect that deck to fall off a cliff. Im not saying its not good against other things, but that 4th color can be rather awkwark at times...

I am a huge fan of massacre currently. it takes care of TNN in the esper decks, and completely hoses death and taxes. My sideboard looks liek this:

    2 disfigure
    1 Grafdigger's Cage
    1 Pithing Needle
    1 Null Rod
    1 Toxic Deluge
    2 Massacre
    2 Duress
    1 Umezawa's Jitte
    2 Nihil Spellbomb
    1 Jace, The Mind Sculptor
    1 Arcane Laboratory

Note: I am currently running 2/1 split thoughtsieze/hymn to tourach in the main.

So you think less hymns now that dig through time is gone? Tbh, its back to the drawing board on my my list right now. With DTT gone, i immediately change my stance on targeted discard discussed earlier. More hymns, mor thoughtseize more wastelands.

Speaking of more wastelands, people will want to run them again. At least the decks that traditionally jammed 4 ( death and taxes, RUG delver) will be on the rise again. Maybe need to rethink the mana base. The meta is in for a shake up.

Well i hate that i was right about dig through time, but it is what it is. Banning it will push the meta back towards the pre khans days. RUG delver anyone?

    Please leave legacy alone...

However, If they do ban anything it's not going to be brainstorm. It's possible they ban dig through time. All the delver and miracles decks people speak of as being a menace to the format are made sooo much better because of dig through time. Especially miracles. One of the few decks where Dig Through Time was actually better than treasure cruise in the first place.

Just my opinion, but nothing needs to change right now. If people want black vise back, thats fine. It will have a negligeable effect on the meta.

If they ban anything, i feel like it will be amulet of vigor. Personally, I hope they leave the format alone for a change. Nothing is too oppressive. All the good decks have bad matchup against other tier 1 decks. They have been too loose with the ban hammer in modern in my opinion. Give the format time to work itself out or print a fall set with some actual modern playables in it and less people will be crying about broken decks. Oh wait, not they wont....this is the internet.

Yeah shes pretty meh in legacy...but situationally good. Sticking her on turn 2 off a deathrite shaman vs miracles can be very good. Same vs death and taxes, storm. Im still not very high on her tho, but I think my 1-of is ok for now. I like the second jace for some matchups. I recently added one to my sideboard for such occasions. I cut the Umezawa's jitte for it. It was either that or the second toxic deluge, but that card has won me too many games.

Its been awhile since ive been to these forums. Its a relief to see that sharldess has its own primer! Ive been out of the game for a few months, but im currently testing shardless again.

    My List:

    Just a few comments:

Im light on discard spells. I have run thoughtseize main before. Ive run more hymn to tourach before. But in the current Dig Through Time meta, im not sure too many discard spells are a good idea. Sure, sometimes its cool to cascade into a hymn, but sometimes they top deck dig, and we help them cast it. I have 3 duress in the board to "help" in some horrid matchups...like omni-tell.

Speaking of the big blue monster..
Yes running duress against a dig through time deck is the opposite of what i just talked about, butOmi-Tell is a rough one for us or at least it has been for me. My current board strategy involves duress, nihil spellbomb, and arcane laboratory. We need cheap ways to interact...or die to a turn 2 show and tell. Duress is ok, im sure there s better. They run more digs and cantrips than we do, and eventually kill out of no where. I see that some people are opting for the white splash for meddling mage. I am not a fan of the 4th color, but i understand why peole think they need to go that route. Its also good against other random combo decks...storm comes to mind.

I am consider addding a 2nd Jace, the mind sculptor to the sideboard to help with the miracles matchup, but im testing this lst pretty hard the next few days. I accept any criticism on my list. Im till coming back up to speed.

The current meta consists of a ton of delver and miracles decks both of which we have pretty good matchups against. It feels like we are well positioned...

Someone mentioned earlier that he would run 6 abrupt decays if he could. I second this thought. Its so damn good against counterbalance...i never want less that 4 in my list.

By the way A+ to the OP. Thought you explained the reasoning behind cards as well. Maybe the primer could be extended to sideboard choices?

So ive been taking a real beating to various Dig Through Time decks, it has me wondering how well positioned shardless is right now. It reminds me of when EVERYONE started playing treasure cruise. I'm not saying they are the same card, but the card advantage is real. In my gut I feel a ban coming.

Specific matchups that have been just awful for me are Omni tell, Ur Delver, Grixis Delver/pyro control. All dig decks. Make my abrupt decay/wasteland/thoughtsieze strategy pretty weak.

Deathrite Shaman is huge for us in these matchups, but it does not do enough to keep their GY down to prevent an early dig. Also, he inconveniently dies to lightnin bolt which is rather unfortunate for the delver matchup (also dies to forked bolt).

Where is everyone at on these matchups?

If I can get future sight tarmogoyfs at tcg low, is it worth it? Im not sure what to think about the future of out favorite Urgoyf's price, but i feel future sight copies will hold more value than the MM copies. I am curious what the up/down side is?
