ps guys: Spellskite + canonist is really good against that new delver deck.
@frenadol, your friend found me on facebook (no idea how), and talking to him reminded me about how much of a powerhouse canonist is against ancestral recall/brainstorm decks (read: Shardless BUG)
Meh. Dryad militant is p-bad. It dies to bolt and creature removal (which we are already weak to). It has no butt. I'd rather maindeck an RIP or a relic.
Bug delver cannot support this card (it already runs delver, goyf, and tombstalkers).
This card will be best in UWR delver, and Stoneblade. They don't depend on the graveyard, and drawing three cards in either of those decks is never bad. They would require people to bring in gravehate (if that card is considered strong) for a matchup that shouldn't need gravehate (okay, I do bring in RIP against stoneblade to shut off snappy, but for the most part the deck is not grave-reliant)
Couldn't we argue that death and taaxes is a tempo deck (aggro control), and therefore all cards are dedicated to being the beatdown, while hindering our opponent's plans? Because that has been my opinion of this deck the longest time.
As I explained a few pages back, I do believe Resto is a much more reliable clock than Crusader, and in practice the clock speed is basically the same so you don't lose any clock by running Resto instead of Crusader while dodging a lot of the most common removal (albeit Crusader and Resto don't dodge the same kind of removal, you need to find out which is more prevalent in your meta). You also get the flash speed and CIP bounce, which I think it's much, much, much more useful than being able to proc twice a sword or Jitte.
Downsides? CMC 4. The good thing about the cost though is her only needing one white mana, which reduces your requirement for double white to just Flickerwisp (although having access to 2WW in turn 4 is still vital for doing Stoneforge plays and still be able to cast a creature). I mitigate that by running 24 lands with a lot of land cycling and land based utility as right now I like running 3 Restos and having lots of mana is always good. I know it's not ideal, as I'm more exposed to Blood Moon and Back to Basics (in practice it doesn't matter as 99% of the people who haven't played against me will think I still run the standard 11 Plains and will never board it), but I think that in the absence of anything better it is still worth.
Pretty much these are my thoughts too. And got to add that I have felt the meta of Legacy steadily shifting towards slower, creature based decks (although Elves and their combo potential is a whole different story...), which tends to lead to the thought process that maybe that 4CMC is not so big of a deal. Considering that for quite a few years 4CMC creature that is considerably harder to cast than Resto has been widely accepted as a powerful sideboard option, I really don't see that 4CMC mainboard creature that bring A LOT to the table being too slow anymore. The decks that beat our face in turns 2-3 will do so, regardless do we run a few 4CMC or not. And if nothing else, we could always make (a decently bad, but still) comparison to Jund. Their possibly most powerful trump is a 4CMC creature. Granted, Bloodbraid DOES quite the work with a huge synergy on their decklist, but so does Resto in our decklist. These are my thoughts as of now.
A little exaggeration on my part, and of course it requires testing. But it seems pretty solid (though Resto basically doesn't die to anything besides delver + bolt or tarmo chump). I dunno, it could be due to my subocnscious desire to play TNN in a mono-white deck . Also, it has been proven to be a house in atleast one competitive format (pauper). I was just thinking about things that have been played in competitive formats, and immediately came to mind (it's how I "found" spellskite, I just looked at what was being played in a format that was dependent on removal to balance itself). Pauper is a format that is very focused on combat and combat interactions, so I thought I'd look there as well. If guardian was a 3 drop, without a doubt it would be a two-of.
Try reveilark over baneslayer, makes our deck more annoying, and makes em think twice before attacking with that damn goyf. It's something I've wanted to test for a long time.
I currently have 61 cards in the maindeck, and am looking to cut one card (but I am a big fan of every single card in my mainboard). I am also looking into using blasting station in removal heavy matchups (say UWR?) and aggro matchups where I can either use some reach, or I can use it as another source of removal for pesky ornithopters (and I get to gain some life!) and friends. Everything else seems pretty self-explanatory.
Just did some research to see about the history of spellskite in DnT (if it has been played at all). Only other person to try it (besides) was David Bauman, who made top of SCG Seattle earlier this year (with one in his sideboard). While very much a reaction to UWR, I still think it will be extremely playable in the upcoming meta, because for those of you who play modern, you know that Jund is a terrible matchup for infect, which in-turn is a terrible matchup for ourselves. The card reacts to a deck that preys on infect and ourselves (and it's still really good against all of the fair decks in coordination with mommy, or protecting mangara lock )
two karakas is fine, but 3 is preferred. Pack a bridge in your sideboard for Show and tell, as your show and tell matchup will be significantly worse than how it normally is.
Guardian Of the Guildpact Pretty much cannot die to anything in legacy. (besides jitte and artifacts!). If we're looking at 4 drops, why not play one that just wins us the game?

It's applicable in every matchup, and against every type of deck
