Holy Crap! I want to make an EDH deck with him as commander: BR burn spells and artifact creatures. It will basically be Affinity but your burning opponents while you're at it.
I'm a little skeptical of the authenticity of this card only for the how the first line is worded.
Look at Illusory Angel and how it's casting restriction is worded. Wouldn't this be the same convention that this creature would use?
So the first line would read, "Cast Rakdos, Lord of Riots only if an opponent lost life this turn." Seems less clunky too.
I realize that sometimes Wizards does away with conventional wording when dealing with legendary creatures (see Avacyn, Angel of Hope), but the wording combined with the anonymous source has me skeptical.
Serra Avenger is worded the same way as this Rakdos, pointing to me that this card might be real...
Also because I'm obliged to say this every other page since no one else appears to agree. Why is this card not marked unconfirmed, it was a random post by some random guy with a trollface as his facebook cover on SCG's wall, they reposted it to jump the gun.
I completely agree. I don't think it is necessary to keep on reposting this though. It clearly says it very well could be fake on the very first post. That doesn't mean that this card, real or not would be worth talking each other about. We are all going to find out very soon on the authenticity of this card. Time will tell...
Implying that competitive EDH isn't just comboing off Mind over Matter, Niv-Mizzet with Curiosity or some Primeval bull.
True. I suppose I exaggerated a little. Nonetheless, I view playing casually as simply having fun, making new combos and trying new things on a consistent basis. That is my point of view on the matter...
lol "competitive EDH decks" no one wants to play with those people.
Haha! I hear you! I had to take Curiosity out of my Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind edh so that way I could keep my friends at the table, including the fact that it is more fun thinking of other combos to pull off with him. Kitchen table edh is the best...
that might be possible against people who play the worst edh decks ever just to get some silly combo out, but against competitive edh decks? ya good luck with that.
To each their own in how they view it, but that third ability is what made this card to me. Eldrazi would be the best example of a use out of the card, IF I were to pull that off. That is true that it is unlikely, but there are many, many more cards and combos that can, and probably will be played with this card.
That is, if this card is real. We are all going to find out real soon...
doesnt actually have an ability? you will not be using his 2nd ability to great extent outside of magical christmas land.
Are you kidding? That last ability of his would be the soul reason why I would play him, especially in edh! After he is out on turn 4, on turn 5, shoot a shivan meteor at someone, then cast the eldrazi in your hand for free!...
The drawback doesn't make it bad. What makes it bad is it's a 4CC creature that only attacks and blocks. It's bad for the same reason Phyrexian Obliterator was bad, namely you'd spend your whole turn 4 casting it and your opponent would laugh and blow you out with Vapor Snag.
That's like, 90 percent of all the creatures in Magic though...
Nah. You are not the first to bash it... lol
That doesn't look fake to me, and this is another person altogether who had it.
I'd say, play a Staggershock the turn before he comes into play
I was thinking of the EXACT kind of deck build...

My bad. I don't remember what I was thinking then!:-/
