Maybe it's just me but I think the elemental is great. An effective turn 1 3/4 is not to shabby especially if you're playing rdw. You can use it as a combat trick to get value easily. It lets you run sideboard material main-deck if you have trouble a particular deck with out making it entirely useless against other match ups (for example mizzium mortars). With guttersnipe it can turn a thoughtscour into 4 damage.

The versatility that it offers I think will make it very playable though it may get sidded out against non control match ups.

So, in 5 years, we're going to be playing 2 cmc 10/10 creatures.

    Insane :p

    or god forbid a 13/13 for 1!

Gravecrawler has been mentioned a lot on this thread. Can we agree that yes, that specific card in that specific deck is an extremely effective counter? There have to be other arguments worth making.

People keep mentioning it and tokens because they are very likely to be the top decks after rotation. It's not that the card doesn't have potential. His problem is that he just doesn't fit well in the meta. Certain decks may still run him but they probably won't be top tier. Something like Falkenrath Aristocrat is just so much better in an aggro deck and jarad is just a stronger 4 drop in general. I can see the demon in a mono black deck but not much else.

Why are so many people convinced that I'm saying control is dead? I'm just saying delver is dead. I mean it will still be around but it will no longer be the top deck since it is primarily a tempo deck and Dryad Militant disrupts the tempo. As far as standard goes this card probably won't see all that much play after the first month.

Are you serious? A 3/2 flyer for 1 in the color that should have the worst creatures is "equally overpowered and unfair" as a 2/1 for 1 in the colors that should have the best ones? A creature that hoses an entire format is "equal" to one that hoses one mechanic within that format? It dies to Geistflame. You have to spend half of arguably the worst card in the Burning Vengeance deck to kill it. She's not even as effective a hoser for spell-based strategies as Thalia.

You're right in saying that delver is more overpowered but the problem with this card is that it can easily be used in conjunction with thalia in an aggro deck and unless control has two removal spells in hand they're done. This means you have to run more spot removal (which has gotten weaker with rotation) and less counter spells and or draw spells. That being said I'm glad delver is losing ponder, gitaxian probe, and mana leak. It's about time.
