Am I the only person who is upset about this being common? I really like the card, but pauper doesn't need another storm card. I guess it doesn't win the game?

this seems like a very good control card. The colors are sort of awkward, but +1 card advantage a turn for 2 mana is very powerful. The ultimate is very meh, but a 2 mana walker with a game winning ult would be busted. The -1 is actually very relevant, in modern and legacy as it picks off bob, hierarch, and other utility creatures as well as a lili of the veil after she minuses. I can definitely see this finding it's way into legacy lands. It's not going to rock the format or anything, but it doesn't hurt to have options.

Free mana for 0 always ended up good, no matter the restrictions.

Not true. Unknown Shores hasn't been seeing play.

Yeah, I can picture the arguments:

Chrome Mox - "You have to exile a card, and risk getting 2-for-1ed. Total jank."
Mox Opal - "You have to get three whole artifacts on the battlefield. Unplayable garbage."
Mox Amber - "You need to have a legendary creature or planeswalker on the battlefield. Jaaaaank."
Mox Tantalite - "You have to wait three whole turns!? JAAAAAANK!"

I wonder how many players deride Lotus Bloom for the same reason.

Mox amber is jank, It sees zero serious play. Occasionally it posts results, but pros don't show up to tournaments with mox amber decks. Only a few people were down on mox opal. I pretty sure I remember people losing their minds over it being busted. And noone thought chrome mox was bad. Mox diamond was almost the same card and was generally recognized as being good.

As another user pointed out, fast mana is what is good, 3 turns for 1 mana is not above curve in modern and this isn't going to be legal in standard. Best case scenario you have multiple in your opening hand and end up with 5-6 mana on turn 4, but lotus bloom already does this as a single card. You don't need 6+ mana for multiple turns to win and if you are using this to get to anything less than 5 mana on turn 4, you are just playing a bad land.
Lotus is the only card in modern that can put you up 3 mana by turn 4 in a single card. There are dozens of cards that can put you up 1 mana by turn 4.

Seems like a good anticontrol card. It puts on early pressure and lets you use your mana efficiently. Protection from instants basically means removal is dead against it, and then you can level it up more if they have colonnade up to block. There are likely better options for fighting control, but I'm a sucker for the level up mechanic.

I could see this in a janky 4-5 color grind deck where they need color fixing and have time to spare... maybe... it's just sooooo slow that it's going to be worse than a land in most situations.

Really cool card. I don't expect modern play out of it because 3 mana is too much for a graveyard based deck. Maybe a 3/4 for 3 is good enough for a coco deck? I will have fun with it in casual and draft for sure.

I cannot express how much worse this is than Mother of Runes. The thing with MoR is that she makes it impossible to cast your targeted removal, because she can just neutralize it. This doesn't shut off removal as you can target her.

I guarantee you once any hype has settled down, this will not be making it into any serious constructed decks in any format. Save your pennies on any hype girls and boys.

I agree mostly, in fact that's what I thought at first, but I think the card deserves a little more credit. A lot of modern decks rely on creatures to win and this has a huge impact on combat. Otherwise there are still a few decks that would play a flag bearer for 1 mana. In rare cases you can do a mom impression with two of these out. It's definitely not mom though. Mom would have been pretty busted. I predict this will see fringe play.

I have tried something similar on arena, but settled on goblin tribal with a black splash for Judith. I have found Vanquisher's Banner wins more games than any other card. I am interested if the aristocrat style deck works better after war of the spark.

Colonnade can be covered with field of ruin, but banslayer is going to need a real answer. I like crushing canopy as a sideboard card if you need to kill big fliers. If you are dying to baneslayers and colonades your issue might be sweepers and counterspells. Usually those cards are used as ways to win the game after they have killed all of your stuff.

In modern, raking canopy is a good one as it shuts down archlight Phoenix. (Also it adds devotion) Is this something that would go in a sideboard or do you want to put it in the maindeck?

seems pretty good as an anti aggro card. kill a creature plus make a blocker is very relevant.

seems cute with persist creatures and the like. It adds another infinite combo to the list of Necrotic Ooze combos (Devoted Druid and this in the yard). I don't think it will be that good, but it seems fun.

An actual eternal playable uncommon walker oh jeez. I was not expecting that! I will also be running this in modern sb's. It reasonably hate vs a lot of decks from scapeshift and amulet to dredge and Phoenix (admittedly not perfect for the last two). Standard has basically no use for this, but since I have mo use for standard I will be sleeving up some ashioks.

    Quote from Helnas »
Its just in friday night magic "events" that i play.
With the first group i played with i told them upfront i was playing with a few proxies in my deck and then said they were fine with it.
After the game the wondered where my proxies were but 1 was already on the board (geae's).
I thought proxies were just fake cards (since thats how i googled them and got on aliexpress)
But after the game they told that at a certain table the people playing there disliked fakes, they didnt mind if i had a few hand written cards with the intend of buying it after saving or after testing it in the deck.
Tbh, i see this as a fun hobby and already spend atleast 500 euro on it.

None of it went to the magic company since i bought them second hand so the card company doesnt suffer from it.

    Thanks for the many responses

You have a terrible grasp of what is and is not ok. Just because you spent some money on the game doesnt give you cart blanch to have proxies( counterfeights) and then say others are over reacting.

Buying fake cards 100% hurts wotc, the makers of Magic

    come correct

Not if they are on the reserve list. It may hurt the secondary market, but wizards is' hardly reliant on that anymore. Obviously it's stealing intellectual property and undermining the property power structure is bad. I personally only proxy standard cards and encourage everyone I meet to do the same, because I actively hate magic the gathering, but no one will play better games as long as magic is still a thing.

Notably emrakul's annihilator doesn't trigger with the pig so I doubt it will see serious modern play, but it is going to be one hell of a force in standard and commander.

Goryo's Vengeance is a thing in modern

You can T2 this guy then swing with him then get emrakul out

THATS 21 DAMAGE ON TURN 2!!!
that's just too many moving parts. An emrakul on its own wins the game with anialator. I was thinking it would be good as an alternative to through the breach, but it is venerable to spot removal and your opponent can block out of it so the pig would need to survive combat. It's a really good card, but it's not something I want to cheat into play and it doesn't have an etb like prime time so I don't want to spend 5 mana on it.

It could turn out I'm wrong and it dodges enough removal that it can safely survive until your next turn, but I'm skeptical.
