So far m14 is nearly unplayable in constructed.

TWO CARDS that will see play in standard/modern and 81 spoiled so far, this is more than pathetic.

Unless they wil hit us with something like cryptic command and fetches in it, M14 won't sell, at least I know a lot of people buying boxes who will just buy 4 oozes and 4 ratchet bombs and never look back on this piece of...a bad set ;P

Oh noes! Because this set doesn't appeal to me personally I'm going to cry about how only two cards are playable! You couldn't possibly be more wrong...

Lightning Ball Helix is pretty strong... I'm going to hate playing against it. Like it a lot though.

I love the art on this card, what I'm not sure about are its implications in constructed. It's a fun card none the less, and would be a lot of fun to play in say EDH- but not sure if you really want to gamble on it in Standard though... Unless your deck runs a lot of fatties? Maybe?

Thespian's Stage is AWESOME, love the art, love the flavor text, love the effect... It's just a well designed and really fun looking card. Slaughterhorn is yet another great combat trick in Gruul's increasing number of combat tricks, and is making it look more and more like that Gruul will be a really good choice in the prerelease. Really happy with the spoilers tonight

I'm actually kinda disappointed that the Gruul Charm is so... lackluster, as it was the one I was looking forward to the most. The first ability is nice though, as it allows you to get through their non-flying blockers, the second ability is so oddly specific I don't know why it's on there, and the third ability is nice, it kills Lingering Souls. Maybe it can be good, but at the moment I'm leaning towards no. Frown

I like the card a lot, the fact that it gets past the ever so annoying Lingering Souls is just a bonus. I can see RUG decks running a few of these for even more combat tricks, as dropping this guy with open mana to activate bloodrush and swinging mid to late game could be devastating. Curious to see the preorder price on this one, as like people are saying- it might be legacy goblins playable. (And that deck hasn't gotten much since Goblin Guide)

I would play this if I had that 3 drop goblin in play. At the moment however, I'm not too sure about it. Do I want to ramp into this? Or do I just want the deck to curve out earlier and play something with more of an impact like Thundermaw or Sigarda?

It seems like a very solid card for sure, but the "attack each turn if able" might not be the greatest. Sure aggro decks win by dropping a lot of dudes and then promptly turning them sideways, but there are quite a few situations where you want to play defensively or not commit too many creatures at once- this guy seems to defeat that purpose, but he's probably playable as a 2 of, maybe. He does make that 4 drop Gruul card a lot more enticing though...

Thragtusk gains 5 and that sometimes isn't even enough when leaving an upward to two bodies. What I mean to say is, Ghost Council is far from absurd and will often times simply not be enough, especially when to dodge removal it needs to be removed from potentially blocking.

As for Lazav, I have a quick rules question: say it is a clonetusk, which I imagine it often times will be. When it clones another creature, does that count as "leaving play" aka a 3/3 in its wake???

Yeah, ole Thragy is more of an annoyance than anything else. (I think it's the worst when it's in Reanimator, to be honest) Most of the time I just Searing Spear it or cast Thundermaw to negate the life gain. But yeah, Ghost Dad is definitely good, but when racing an aggro deck you probably won't want to exile him, unless you have some sort of way to buy time. (But I really can't see him seeing play in anything but control, possibly a midrange deck?)

I'm not so sure giving Obzedat hexproof is all that beneficial since he already dodges pretty much everything.

Here's to hoping we get a decently costed instant that deals with him. We'll need it.

You think the odds of that are likely though? I'm hoping it is, but you can never tell with Wizards R&D department.

Not that I'm suggesting this is going to be a valid strategy, but the fact that Obzedat is a spirit makes Drogskol Captain (the hexproof) a little interesting.

I completely forgot that card even existed. Damn, might be worth picking up a couple.

Selesnya Charm/Victim of Night is about it, or something coming in Gatecrash I would imagine, or perhaps Wizards is actually trying to get people to play Murder.

That makes sense, it just doesn't seem like a very good move on Wizards part to make a 5 drop that dodges almost all the removal we currently have, and it seems your best bet would be to race it- but then again, they did think that Jace, the Mind Sculptor was a good idea...

Anyone want to guess the pre-order price on him? I'm going to go with at least $25

GHOST DAD DIES TO TRAGIC SLIP! I don't even know what deck plays it anymore. Of course, you can always sac a creature to Aristocrat and then Brimstone Volley his ass, but not every deck has that option. Guess the best way is to counter him, but Cavern of Souls exists, so I wonder what's the "best" way of answering him? Because if you don't find a way to do so, you're probably going to lose pretty fast.

Ghost Dad is ridiculous. The fact that most removal doesn't work on him the majority of the time makes him even stronger. Definitely a strong finisher for a Esper Control deck, and the keyrune will definitely end games in limited. (Let's hope we get some common/uncommon removal this set) Honestly, I'm surprised that they made a guild leader constructed playable, as most of them saw very little play. (I saw Niv in a few Grixis decks as a one of for a finisher and saw some Junk tokens run Trostani with varied results- but topdecking an Entreat with her in play is hilarious.)

Does Giant Growth see play in Silverblade Paladin decks? It's +3/+3 for 1. This would be +3/+3 for 3.

Just seems boring. Vanilla dudes are boring. Bad pump spells are boring. Combining vanilla dudes and bad pump spells doesn't make the card very exciting.

Hopefully they expand on the keyword a little more to make it more interesting.

Invest in a thesaurus, that was probably one of the most contrived posts I have ever read.
