It's definitely one of the better answers to an end of turn Cyclonic Rift.
I'm actually considering building an entire deck around this card. If you can manage to throw away all of your turns with something like a Chronatog, you can become nigh invincible. Partnering Teferi's Protection with other effects like detain that also don't expire till the beginning of your next turn is an intriguing direction for me right now. The challenge of "winning the game without any turns" is rather appealing to me.
There is guy in our play group that run's this type of deck. We call it the fart deck. He wins by counter, fog, and Azor's Elocutors. He plays stuff like Orim's chant on a stick to stop bad stuff with Seedborn Muse every turn. Genesis plus spore frog combos.
REALLY ANNOYING. But it works.
Rule 1- When he plays the commander, he has to say "ANGUS" really mean.
Rule 2- When he fogs, He was to make fart noises.
Rule 3- When he plays the filibuster card, he has to stand and talk endlessly till it goes off or is destroyed.
No body gets mad about loosing to this with these rules.
Memnarch is really good. Mono Blue theft is funny and targeting lands is just the icing on the cake. I love when players ask how to deal with (X) card. I always respond, "I take it".
Any commander that can use Food chain is terrifyingly strong.
Has anyone ever fought a Karn, Silver Golem deck? That dude crapped out a turn 3 Blightsteel Colossus. That was the trick card he could careless about. He played Mycosynth Lattice and destroyed all our lands by turning them into creatures. No expected that. He made Aladdin's Lamp a 10/10 dude and killed us off that way.
A western set is actually rather easy.
Set the scene as if an apocalypse happened of a massive disease created by Bolas to kill off older adults. Just everyone under 35 is alive. No one knows how to run industry or schools.kind of like a hybrid Enders and good cowboys just struggling to eat and live.
Goblins are trying to rebuild but are held back by fairies for some reason. Faeries are on bolas side.
Humans are just raising some animal for beef. Beasts.
Guns are introduced. Range or sharpshooter. Tap this creature, it deals one damage to target player or plainswalker.
Mutants- creature type, exposure to something is causing living things to morph into insane beings that deal damage at random. Think reavers from firefly.
Lastly, there is a no go area for everyone as the zombies and mutants seem to get along but are congregating this wired area. Think dead space artifacts causing the outbreak. Bolas spell or artifact failed creating this error.
This set brings in Gideon to square off against Liliana. Plus Gideon could pull off a good cowboy.
One group on this plain is not friendly to anything and had their own continent until volcanic shifts caused by the “event” to be shoved together with everyone else. Centaurs!
Goblin and faeries are untouched by mutations and no one knows why.
Just my idea.
When you play back to basics turn 3, people slow way down. Also, my play group knows not to come at me head on. I usually get sucker punched out of nowhere if I get beat. No one wants to be killed by their own commander, thus they know to target key pieces to slow me down. Everyone is trying the the new flip cards from ixalan, so I take advantage of it.
I would not mind seeing the following:
Land destruction GR
Ultimate pillow fort GWU
Attrition RB
Taxes WU
Torpedo troll: 5 color deck designed to kill combo deck, the commanders are literally trolls designed to stop many forms of win conditions.
Need the following:
FTV: just print the damn dual lands
FTV: “That guy” commander generals
FTV: Jank “why not”
FTV: Mill
FTV: WTF “cards that cause games to suck fast”
It is worth it to stop combo control responses such as dispel or swan song. Same goes for spell snare as it hits a lot of good cards.
Consider this, competitive decks run cheap spells to combo off faster. Why not run a one mana stop?
Countering a top to stop card advantage or draw setting is epic.
Had a hilarious interaction with thaumatic compas. Had a great early start in a 7 person game. I decided to play memnarch without win on spot. I had unwinding clock out with 6 mana capapble everyturn. I took thaumatic compas from the guy to my right and proceeded to pull a land energy turn till it got me. I did it again but only got 4 more. +10 land out by turn 6 is just broken. It’s easier for me to win in large games than in small ones. Not sure why besides distance from opponents on table or fear of starting a fight.
No one attacked me cause I could cancel attacks now. I did this stupid play 3 times in that game. I was drawing only non land after that. I was terrified someone would boil my ass.
Forcefield was great against prosch and I only lost 12 life from attacking kobolds buffed my coat of arms. Cyclonic rift that ***** quick. Long term plans is a life saver and should be auto include.
I gave teferi the gate for ambassador laquatus as the Merrfolk is a win condition. Teferi was pretty useless in every game I played except decks that use suspend. The Merrfolk is cheaper and works instant speed to win. Mill is a thing. I run pongify and reality shift. Worth.
Don’t forget to run duplicant to get rid of pesky collosus.
Ertaia is also good to not have the threat hit the ground.
I tried to build the most exspensive version with lions eye diamond, but ifound it actually slowed down cause I am always hunting for combo pieces across multiple plans. Adding more win cons is what I found problematic in earlier memnarch builds, have 3 different pieces to 3 different combos. What do I go with or hope to draw?
When you add crucible of worlds affects and a strip mine.....it’s devestsing and you loose friends
Find a way to flicker eater of days infinitely then cast teferi's protection for a doing nothing win.

Atraxa, Praetors' Voice in stax is just cruel on many decks not ready for tap control.
