how is the flexibility on these, do they feel like a normal card?
From what I have read, there more stiff and some are worse than others.
I read one user say he does not cut it ever time, but can tell right away by how it feels its "the card".
One guy who's only sold a handful must have been using very poor materials, his cards were stiff and heavy.
I have been lurking for a bit here and as an artist myself I have to clear the air about the art being used.
What got me was all of the requests to report ebay sellers who are printing out art, cutting out portions of the sticker and then selling the card.
One seller I noticed mentioned often was monkiesarefeedingoffmynightmares, and comments about him "not likely having permission from the artist"
I checked the deviant art page of the artist, per his own comments he was commissioned to paint the picture and is aware the person is using the art to alter magic cards. http://quirkilicious.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d57cn5n
Is what he is doing 100% OK with wizards of the coast? Thats up to them to decide, but we know he didn't steal the artwork itself.
I guess what really gets me is that these guys are being put in a pretty harsh light, and I agree most are committing a crime but 90% of the proxies I saw here are no better. Why? Because even if its for personal use you still need to obtain permission from the artist, and in many cases You will need to acquire a license for personal use, same as for commercial use. This may vary from one artist to the next but just posting the link where you took the image down from does not make it okay or more legal than what other people are doing, both are infringements on copyrights.
Yes, the requests are to report people selling them, and no one here is trying to sell their cards, but I liken that to two people speeding, yes the other guy might be going 50mph over the limit but even if your only speeding by 1mph over the limit, your still speeding.
Now, some sites say its okay to use the art for personal use but I see a lot of pictures here being pulled from deviantart ect, how many folks who have grabbed works from their have asked the artist if it was okay first?
