How sad that blue won't be dominating every competitive event during RtR like they have been for months. Blue mages are so entitled to having the best stuff.

You're going to have to do something other than counter everything and dig for answers. Adapt. Figure out another strategy.

Ponder + Snapcaster + Delver + Mana Leak + Vapor Snag + Geist was annoying to play against, and Wizards knows this. To me, it looks like the meta game is shaping up for all sorts of great combinations. Boring, classic blue control probably won't be one of them, but there are plenty of ways to splash blue with other strategies. Take this as an opportunity to be creative. Blue control will be back one day, but not in RtR.

If anything control is stronger post RtR than it is before...
In fact with the detain mechanic it's possible to counter everything and dig for answers... something that hasn't been possible since the original counterspell left standard :0.

Still, not having some sort of "Standard playable" library manipulation does stink. It makes any miracle deck 100% worse (and nearly non-playable). But we'll survive.

I think all of thebprerelease promos are relatively strong.

True. But the WU one is the most expensive, and by itself, can not race the other colors.

Whoa! Izzet tanked in this poll! They did get so boned, which is why ill opt for azorius instead.

Azorius looks good. And i usually do well in limited with those colors.

Honestly... I'm tempted to go Izzet.
The thing most people forget... you actually get to play with the promo card.

    This changes the equation substantially.

This is why I'm personally confused as what guild to play. I love the detain mechanic... but that guild has by far the worst game day promo (too expensive relative to the other bombs).

I am tempted to build a deck around the restoration angel + snapcaster control shell. Especially with cards spoiled thus far (Hello Lyev Skyknight!).

Blue and White are the natural main colors for such a deck, but I was wondering what third color (green or red) do you think would be better for support?

Red gives you access to bonfire, pillar, and all of the izzit spells (namely izzit charm).

Green gives you access to Thragtusk (which is huge, especially with restoration angel), Selesnya Charm, and potentially ramp.

    your thoughts?

EDIT: Turns out I'm in the wrong section, I sincerely apologize about that.
Mods feel free to delete this post, I am manually moving it over to a new location.

Wizards promised that they would reprint Modern staples, and Bob is such a card. So far they've delivered with the shocklands, but I would have also preferred Noble Hierarch in M13.

Meh. Tarmogoyf has a better chance of being reprinted than bob.
When they mentioned reprinting modern staples... pretty sure they where referring to the shock lands. XD

How much life do you suppose you'll need to survive a few turns when facing strategies that incorporate cards like Bonfire and Wolf Run?

None.... that's what counterspells are for.
In all honesty the only home for the card is a control deck. And in a control deck... wolf run and bonfire are easily dealth with via counter magic and/or mass removal. Control's worst matchups (theoretically) would be zombies due to being more strong vs removal. Life gain helps against those decks.
