legacy.*spits out coffee* Miracles @ 20% isn't out of balance? ~60% of decks on brainstorm, ponder, fow is in balance? Ok. Lets not debate legacy here, I don't see a positive discussion for modern coming by elucidating a statement like that.
"Welcome to Legacy, where we play Magic like how God Jace wanted us to play it, the blue way. What, you can't shell out over $1000 on duals? Well, I guess you can just play Dredge, Burn and maybe D&T. Enjoy forever being a window shopper as others get to have fun playing blue."
The good thing about having Jund is that no matter what its position is in Modern you are only one or two sets away from having something new
printed to help. Kolaghan's command, Kalitas, and Collected Brutality are all examples of why this deck will remain a power house in Modern.
Why does it have to be a blue reactive deck? Wouldn't a blue combo or midrange ( well I guess that would be reactive to some extent ) deck be enough? So long as people get to jam Snapcaster Mage in a tier 1 deck why does it matter?
If your dream is to sit behind a row of Islands and counter everything poor thing little Timmy has to offer
then I have some bad news for you.
This here is why so many ( myself included ) people dislike blue mages in MTG. This attitude that Blue is the only color that matters and any format
not policed by it sucks by default. Of course not all blue players but the vocal ones that stand out and act like petulant children make it harder for
anyone else to actually care when they are accustomed to hearing "Wah blue sucks!" Does Blue have issues, absolutely yes. Is Wizards working on it, most likely, but probably not the way you want it.
Slug it out with the rest of us or just sell your stuff and move on.
BBD article did hit the nail on the head with Jace. I don't care how much Shaheen Soorani cries over Control being dead in Modern Jace doesn't solve that. Will Jace make a blueish deck tier 1, sure, probably Sultai. Then if that happens we should cancel all regular Modern events and hold a special GP where we can finally decide who is the better Golgari deck.
White is so bad I think it could use SFM, with the added benefit of helping blue decks
I still don't think Jace helps fix blue's issues, with the added chance of being dangerous and a huge disaster for modern if it needs a reban. I truly think Jace will never see an unban until modern gets legacy level safety valves.
Well I do agree with what you said, that wasn't the point I was trying to make. Wizards cares if decks become too homogenized, probably stemming from their desire to have Magic become an e-sport and appeal to a larger audience. It doesn't look good when you stream an event and all the blue decks were mostly different varieties of Splinter Twin. Now currently they have failed that in Standard, so who knows. If Modern is going to get less focus in favour of Standard I don't see why they should hold on to that premise.
I see the homogenization argument pop up every so often here and I always wondered whether Wizards cares more about it than the players.
By all standards cards such as Splinter Twin, Green Sun's Zenith and Stoneforge Mystic would homogenize a few decks but from what I've gathered people still want
to them unbanned.
Jund tier 2? The deck is completely unplayable now!
Unban Bloodbraid Elf!
Nothing seems out of the ordinary honestly. DSJund is either new hotness or just a better Jund deck at the moment, so I'm not bothered by it eating away at traditional Jund's meta shares.
Well, in the end that's the point. If you like playing Blue you will probably keep playing it regardless. I think a lot of people don't care about how Blue is doing and just want Splinter Twin back.
Jeskai is my 2nd favourite pairing in MTG next to Jund but I sure as hell don't identify as a blue mage. Something about the number of Islands in one's decks turns normal people into a insufferable *****, perhaps I was lucky enough and passed my "Will save" to negate.
Wpgstevo is correct, you can be successful and compete with a blue based attrition deck in Modern. Blue players seem to have this misunderstanding that Blue's health is directly tied to how well it performs at higher events, or what the pros feel. Modern is a fast format and rewards being proactive, You can't simply wait and be reactive in such an open, hostile playing field.
if you want to play control that's consistently tier 1, invest into Junk or Jund (I'm sorry, it feels really gross telling control players to invest into a midrange deck).
My only advice, don't. I don't show sympathy to those who will not return the favour. Just continue enjoying BGx because the future isn't guaranteed for no one here and that could eventually change. I used to love sitting behind two U open eagerly waiting to counter, but the times have changed and I've learned to enjoy the pushed creature/planewalker design philosophy.

but yet are fine with Jace.
If someone asked me if Opals were a sound investment I'd probably say yes.

Lol,
Of course Splinter Twin is the exception, because of some arbitrary reason.

DSJund does look like fun, just not fun enough to justify picking up a play set of expensive uncommons. So traditional Jund it is!
