I can't be upset that Amulet Titan made it. It's a really fun deck to watch and this tournament could be the last time it performs
well before Damping Sphere.
Bogles is like riding a bike with training wheels.
Someone retweeted an old #freejace, #freetwin, #freesfm tweet I had sent to Sam, Forsythe and Maro a year or so ago today.
That happened to me as well, how odd.
Anyhow, anything outside the top 8 looks fine, not spectacular, just fine. The only thing entertaining about the top 8 results is the inevitable Modern Nexus article that this is all somehow Bloodbraid Elf's fault.
Also Jund's rise just came at the expense of other GBx decks.
I often see people touting this narrative and it always baffles me.
After Blooming Marsh and Fatal Push were printed nobody seemed to care that Abzan subverted Jund for awhile. However, whenever the opposite is true and Jund is the better GBx option people seem to magically care about "the other GBx" decks. In all honestly those who own the GBx staples can easily switch between whatever variant is favoured at that time. I'm sure there are factions that prefer one or the other, but they are the minority, and it's still rather irrelevant so long as some variation of GBx is playable.
I have to agree with GK. Modern feels really good right now; still open and diverse. Stoneforge Mystic would be nice but it's way too soon. There are obviously some top tier decks ( Jund, Tron, Humans, etc ) but I feel the power gap is small enough that any strategy can break through.
Looking back a few weeks people thought for sure Jace would ruin Modern. Ironically enough, the only card I hear people want rebanned in Bloodbraid Elf.
Humans is a good deck, but there will always be good decks in every format. There needs to be at least a little more to start a ban discussion.
Agreed
I have yet to see any issues with the format, least none that can back up by any substantial evidence. One month after the doomsday of BBE & Jace and Modern is still just as diverse and open.
Despite that, I have noticed quite a bit of chatter over Bloodbraid Elf recently but nothing too major.
Modern is easily the best format nowadays to play and spectate.
Fundamental level, jajajaj, I'm not idiot man, where are the admins here?
I assume you said about the same about Jace and BBE. Powerlevel has changed. Would you kill before turn 4 with POD? hint: NO.
Shut up your mouth.
I feel it is necessary to point out it's counterproductive to ask for an admin while later
telling someone to shut their mouth.
Pod was a fun card back during the inception of Modern but each new set printed comes with another chance to break the card even further through a combo or just pure value.
The problem with equipments outside of a few rare cases is that they are just too slow in most Modern games. Wizards would need to print an equipment that is in between Batterskull and Jitte power level while also having a low equipment cost.
I agree with Sheridan's assessment regarding SFM and its likelihood of catching a unban next year. I do believe SFM is mostly fine but Wizards is like a timid deer and probably thinks otherwise.
Personal opinion at best but I would toy around with the idea of three Bloodbraid Elf and a single copy of Kalitas. Olivia for sure will be made obsolete but I imagine siding out a single BBE for Thrun versus control heavy matches.
I don't know, analyzing "what if" scenarios is difficult without any better data. I just know looking at what's currently top tier and the ban list that Bloodbraid Elf is comically underpowered.
Polls aren't really a great indicator and don't age well. If I recall correctly six months ago Preordain was killing the polls before Storm started performing well, and Jace was ahead of the races when Mr.Forsythe tweeted that there's plenty of chatter over it.

Whether or not Jace in Modern is a fine decision is yet to be determined.

Horizon Canopy will make a lot of people happy.
Arguing whether or not Grixis DS is truly Blu doesn't get us anymore and is ultimately pointless.
