went into an MCQ yesterday feeling less than confident with the deck and took it to 4-3
round 1 got paired against someone at their first competitive events, he was on some big redish style deck. Deck wasn't good and neither was he really. Game 1 he played poorly and I won off a Liliana, Dreadhorde general after digging deep to draw her when he was dead a while ago, he just didn't realize when to scoop. Game 2 Lyra dawnbringer got me there.
1-0
Round 2 I lose a tight match to mono red 1-2. Game 1 he steamrolled me. Game 2 I kept a hand of 4 lands, duress, thought erasure and baby tef, everything else just fell into place and he scooped to big tef emblem. Game 3 I stripped the tibalt from his hand early due to the no life gain ability. I was getting close to stabilizing but then he got a second tibalt right before I dropped my Lyra and couldn't get there in time.
1-1
round 3 I lost to bant midrange pretty quickly, mostly due to me not knowing how to play it. Played right into his stuff 1 then just couldn't make my way through how to win in game 2.
1-2. probably needed to win out from here
Round 4 I beat UW mill 2-1. He milled me out game 1, I got my Liliana milled out early and didn't really have a way to win that game from there. post board I took on the role of the aggro deck with 3x dreadhorde invasion, 2x Lyra. I swapped the removal for those and more permission. Highlight of post board was drawing out a negate on my turn 2 of game 3 (he was on the play) with a thought erasure, then slamming dreadhorde invasion when he tapped out on his 3.
2-2, looking better.
Lost to gruul warriors 0-2. He curved out really well g1, then I mulled low g2 and got run over
2-3, dead to top 8 and need to get lucky to prize.
round 6 got the no show to go 3-3. Probably not gonna prize after that kind of win
round 7 I win a nail biter against grixis control/midrange 2-1. g1 he basically drew only his copies of nicol bolas, dragon god and nicol bolas, the ravager. I couldn't answer them all. game 2 I duress away his discard spell in hand and jammed dreadhorde invasion on 2, then I ran away with the game. g3 I was stuck on 2 or 3 lands for the longest time after a mull to 5. He got a nicol bolas dragon god and a liliana which he ticked up twice. I drew an elderspell to kill both. I then essentially sacrifice my first baby tef to bounce a token, then bounce the second token with my second baby tef. I was then able to get enough lands to cast my liliana, get it up to 9 and also have a dreadhorde invasion. He was the able to kill my lily and big tef with bedevils. He then casts a Nicol bolas, the ravager and flips it right away. he minuses it to get his other bolas and kill my last walker, which i believe was the baby tef. I finish his walkers off with zombies, holding a vraska's contempt for whatever creature or walker he had. It was over from there.
4-3, finished 44th out of 120ish, prizing was to top 32. there were a lot of 12 pointers in prizing but I was the second from the bottom of 12 pointers.
I know I didn't play perfectly but I think the mistakes I made were mostly minor

motleyslayer posted a message on State of Standard Thread: bans, format health, metagame, rotation, etc!I went to an MCQ yesterday. Pretty much every round there was some 4 colour command the dreadhorde mirror that went to time because the state was such a mess and they gained so much life. My buddy went 3-1-3 with the deck and all 3 his draws were mirrors (one of those mirrors went an extra 40 minutes after time, with no extensions)Posted in: Standard (Type 2) -

so today i played the deck above and it was suprisingly fun. i actually wanted to play bant midrange, but i didnt have all cards together, so i played this one.
was my first standard since war of the spark and i usually play GBx midrange, so i was curios. i tested a few cards like dovin or depose//deploy and they were actually good cards, especially depose//deploy.
unfortunatly i never drew sorin, so i cant tell yet, if he is good or not.
i played vs
izzet drakes (2-0)
easy games, he was just overrun by human tokens in 5 minutes
white wheenie (2-1)
lost the 1st game and had two hard but fun games. i felt a little like i had to many lucky topdecks
mono red (2-1)
same as white wheenie. lost the 1st game and then i felt like i had just more luck
grixis (0-2)
here i felt like i had no chance. 8 bolas, ugin, lili and tons of removal. it totally felt like the anti deck and this is the reason why i started this thread.
answers i had he could discard (like an The Elderspell from the sideboard, some cards game 1 were just useless, like tyrants scorn.
can anyone with more experience tell me whats good vs this deck. i dont feel like Sorcerous Spyglass will do it, since they have artefact removal. maybe Ixalan's Binding ?
Any other ideas that make the main deck more generalistic good and helps vs grixis ? -

kysg posted a message on Struggling with ways to remove the large amount of Planeswalkers out nowPW are still susceptible to a lot of removal, you have to adjust your deck to compensate or work around what PW's show up.Posted in: Standard (Type 2)
You can hit them with flyers
direct damage spells such as: Lightning Strike
they can be exiled as well: Ixalan's Binding
destroyed with: Assassin's Trophy
or you can use sorcerous spyglass or the immortal sun to shut the abilities down. -

Due to obvious reasons, decks featuring her must at least be RW, but this is where the real fun begins. There are many ways to utilize the angelic engine.
The main idea is to play Feather and start slinging your creature targeting spells for as much benefit as possible.
I'm Ryder, dedicated competitive rogue decks builder, welcome to the Feather archetype Primer!
Table of Contents:
- Boros RW
- Naya RGW
- Jeskai RWU
- Mardu [Placeholder] WBR
- Others [Placeholder] X
Notes:
In each section I will list cards that specifically support Feather archetype. Cards of general application such as Seal Away won't be mentioned. I also omitted those cards I considered not good enough under any circumstances. If you'd like to suggest a card to be included, PM me or post in this thread.
I may call instants/sorceries "spells" for simplicity. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

But, kind of a different deck. I thought we had an active angels thread. But I did a quick search and didn't find it. If there had been a thread, I wouldn't have wanted to poach.
So it looks to me like the coast is clear. I would say you could include it as a valid way to go. I have certainly lost to Angels decks in the past, so they haven't been bad and Feather reusing protection spells seems like it could improve them.
If I missed an active angels thread, I apologize to all involved.

There are so many ways to do this. If we could reliably get Arcanist to 3 power, imagine a turn of Heroic Reinforcements then recast Heroic Reinforcements with Arcanist.
One idea is an evasive aggro deck, something like the following, but I want a heroic 1-drop so much it hurts. A shared creature type for Unclaimed Territory would be useful also (Jeskai can use wizard for Arcanist and Beamsplitter):
Edited to fill in sideboard.
4 Rustwing Falcon
4 Dreadhorde Arcanist
2 Tithe Taker
4 Tenth District Legionnaire
3 Feather, the Redeemed
Enchantment
3 Legion's Landing
4 History of Benalia
2 Conclave Tribunal
Land
1 Mountain
8 Plains
4 Clifftop Retreat
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Boros Guildgate
1 Sheltering Light
1 Adamant Will
1 Run Amok
4 Defiant Strike
Sorcery
2 Heroic Reinforcements
4 Gird for Battle
2 Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice
2 Conclave Tribunal
3 Reckless Rage
3 Unbreakable Formation
3 Lava Coil
2 Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants

Anybody who knows others, please feel free to chime in.

Yeah. I run into that occasionally. It sucks. I guess if enough people report it, the players who do it will get weeded out. But sometimes I don't bother reporting them. Sometimes they play fine until they are about to lose, then use all their timeouts.

I started against Izzet Phoenix. Game one started well for them as they got a Goblin Electromancer down and dredged up two Arclight Phoenixes to knock me down to twelve. However, two Lava Coils soon dealt with the Phoenixes and Ral dropped down and drew me out of trouble and into victory. Out: Ritual of Soot; in: 2 Hostage Taker + 1 Duress. G2 left them with only one Phoenix after some countering and killing which was brickwalled by a Rekindling Phoenix and Taken Hostage.
Match 2 was Esper Control. G1 was a mess of tapped lands. A pair of Thought Erasures wasn't enough to clear the way for a Thief of Sanity. Teferi got down and two Thieves of Sanity succumbed to Kaya's Wtrath before I packed it in. G2 was picture perfect. Thought Erasure to clear a Cast Down into Thief of Sanity which hit before countering Vraska's Contempt. Thief then ran away with G2. Opponent kept a hand without B mana G3 and Legion Warboss goldfished to a quick victory.
Match 3 was Mono-U. G1 was the nuts for them and I was never in it. G2 Phoenix held off an Obsessively Curious Djinn until joined by a second and Pirate Captain Angrath. G3 I Lava Coiled an early suited up merfolk but endured beats from a trickster and Siren Stormtamer down to 5 before Ral, Rekindling Phoenix and Hostage Taker took over.
Match 4 was Jeskai Control. G1 Opponent mulled to 5 while I had 3 lands, Insights and Counters. They made their land drops while I drew some cards and countered a few Teferi. Then Ral came down and helped me pull away. G2, they got their Legion Warboss down just before mine. But when Nicol hit the board, Warboss stopped attacking. They had some trouble getting to enough mana to cast Niv or Nezahal and scooped when Nicol Bolas flipped.
Small sample size, but I had a fair number of all tapland hands, So I would add the fourth Blood Crypt. I was lucky, sure, but the deck was great.
