Went 2-1 in FNM. My meta is very beatstick and tron heavy. My list is a chord bg shaman. I like the sentinels, them going in for 2, tapping for chord mana and untapping is pretty big game.
I do like the chord version still methinks. I have two leads in side for grindy matchups, but I did the super play of playing shaman, stack the trigger and chord shaman play for maximum damage. I really do like that I can win at instant speed with chord to shaman. Gives another fantastic angle.

luminum can posted a message on Shadows Over Innistrad General DiscussionPresuming Liliana is involved again (she definitely will, she's the only Origins PW not involved in the Zendikar plot) it will be following the Raven Man mystery.Posted in: Magic Storyline
As for the larger story? Well, the trailer pretty heavy-handedly implies that something bad has happened/will happen to Avacyn. Maybe she is twisted into a force for evil, maybe the truth of her origins comes to light and breaks the faith of her church. Either way I'll presume we see some more of the fallout from the shattering of the Helvault and the release of the demons within. And since Sorin should presumably be involved, Nahiri may have some connection here as well.
...and there better damn well be some more Werewolves, rather than Wolfir. That was never all that satisfying a compromise. In my own musings for future Innistrad plotlines I always intended for some of the surviving werewolves to somehow reverse the effect of the Cursemute or otherwise strengthen the power of their own cursed forms to make a resurgence. But with WotC doing things the way they have been, maybe fixing that is as simple as a retcon handwaving away some of the details of the Wolfir transformation, allowing for a reversion to their monstrous, feral forms. -

Wolfaxe posted a message on "What Deck Should I Play" threadPosted in: ModernQuote from jmlima »Out of curiosity (and maybe stretchering the limits of this thread), is there an 'aggro-combo' deck? IE and aggro deck with a ooops-I-win combo somewhere in the mix?
Elves would be a good example. You can go wide and win quick with Overrun effects. There's also some combo-ish potential, especially when you can Chord of Calling for something like Craterhoof Behemoth though that line has fallen out of favor. -

llamalover000 posted a message on [Deck] Death and TaxesI still don't understand why no one really supported the "stay mono white" post I made 2 pages back. People are still talking as if EVERYONE is running GW DnT. "Oh just slap a quasali or teeg down and you'll be fine". Yeah that works great and all, but GW DnT has no card filtering and if you are missing a color, you are royally ****ed. There was even a post a page back where someone gave his tournament experience with GW and guess what. He got screwed out of a color twice in the tourney. I really don't think the green or red splash is the answer, and I think looking at the top 8 results of big tournaments will only further that conclusion.Posted in: Control -

Snapcaster has been a priority buy and anyone that did not see him going for +$100 was foolish.

I stopped reading after this line because that's ridiculous. (Willing to take my first flaming warning for you, Frostdragon4) - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Affinity would be cmc 2, all the dangerous cards are at 2-drops, but you would probably be dead by turn 4.

It is funny, as we act like Jund and Abzan, but more slippery. Also, with the bannings, we are pretty much the best blue deck in Modern.

That's what made me think it's a Merfolk too.
Wow, I can't believe that. I never noticed it, but it's right there in the art. Nice pick up!
How could you not? Flavour text of the lullmages (which are all Merfolk) as well as a physical merfolk with a sea-shell shield. So much better than the usual Negate art which I've never been able to make out what it is...

Actually I want to build on this. This is a linear deck but with many lines of play from the pieces we have. I want to know how far we can stretch those many variables before we start falling in power to the meta. I've been debating between 3 Merrow Reejery, 3 Master of Waves, and 2 Phantasmal Image, or the full playset of Master of Waves and Merrow Reejery (4/4). I want 2 Phantasmal Images as I've loved being able to make either a Merfolk I have for extra power/board presence, or copying a creature my opponent controls that is either a bomb or game changer. It also keep my curve low, with only 6 cmc 3+ drops. In the old meta, Image was not good with Twin on the prowl.
Although the power of Image is great, I'm worried that 1 less Merrow & Master might hurt the deck. In this meta is it fine to replace these bombs with Image?

Yea. I even doubted this for ages when I moved to Modern from Legacy. Basically, Merfolk is the 'Death & Taxes' deck of Modern to that of Legacy. It hates on lands, it builds advantage up, it's creatures act as hate creatures in the format (cursecatcher, harbinger, merrow reejery, master of waves, etc.) and it uses Aether Vial. Took me ages to see the similarities of the two decks.
