Maybe it's just variance, but I have never had a losing record before over an extended period of time and I think 15 sealed events is enough to author a judgement of sealed in the set. It just seems that pools are more variable than I have ever seen. Powerful multicolored cards but wrong fixing? Good luck. Bad morphs? Good luck. Preponderance of mono colored cards? Have fun limping to 2-2.
I don't like it at all. Aggro is basically unplayable. Morph outclasses the 2 drop aggro creatures in every conceivable way. I just played a sealed where I was 2 color splash a third aggro with 4 1 drops 8 2 drops 4 morph and 7 removal/tricks. I had 4 Mardu hateblade and 3 Mardu skullhunters. I went 2-2. In a different sealed i played a match where my opponent went turn 2 bondkin turn 3 mantis rider turn 4 impersonator. 2 games in a row. This set is draw the right mana draw your bombs win. It seems to me that sealed is about what you open way more than any other set I have seen. Sure people can say variance variance. But it seems that luck is much more of a factor than any other set I have played before. Only have done 1 draft so I cannot comment on drafting the set; sealed is utter crap though.
Corpsejack menace is the best possible 4 drop for the deck. Other good options are 2 desecration demons. Experiment one works well. Radkos cackler shouldbe considered. I had a similar deck that won a sdcc garruk at my old store
I have to second prophet of kukrix or however you spell him . I played a deck with 5 5 drops and 2 6 drops plus 2 thassa bounty. Flashing a giant monster in mid combat turn 5 then casting bounty, untapping and casting another giant monster is amazing. My deck was nuts with 2 shipbreaker kraken, thassa, the prophet, curse, and triple deathtouch scorpion.
Agricola is a great game if you enjoy commodity based resource strategy games.
I find it much more enjoyable then puerto rico because the randomized (or drafted) occupations and improvements that change the way each game is played.
It is an incredibly deep and fun game to play - not for those new to board games however.
Would we run verdant haven? I think we wouldn't since we don't have much past 4 to ramp to. I would rather take the vial or the minotaur. We probably wouldn't run either one, but maybe a bigger chance than running the haven?
You see, even if the person to my right is in green, I get 2 packs of green. It's pick one, pack one. So pack one, the person to my left, assuming he fell into my trap. Keeps passing me green cards. Pack 2 comes along. If the person to my right is in green, I chose a secondary color to be and draft that, knowing I will be getting green cards in the third pack.
If the drafter to your right goes green p1p1 you only get 1 pack of green, pack 2. You also hooked the player to your left up with an obscene white deck in the process. Don't be fancy, just pick the bomb.
Take the Angel. In a vacuum it is a much better card than the baloth. You also are at the mercy of the drafter to your right, and if he settles in green then passing the archangel turns out to be a huge mistake. In the first few picks just take the better card, unless of course you are clairvoyent
I started off trying to draft mono blue control (so much fun !). I took the divinations and an elixir fairly early pack 1 and didn't see much payoff, and switched to green when I saw a fairly late baloth. Of course it's not ideal to splash a divination, but I was crimped with a shortage of playables due to mixed signals and a late switch.
My deck definitely had some problems and wasn't perfect. I probably made quite a few draft mistakes as well. I'm not a professional. My LGS runs draft as FNM and so "crosses streams" so it is easy to play 4 rounds with a top 8 cut. I would have definitely won my pod, but struggled against the truly insane decks out the in the top 4.
4 experiment one
4 radkos cackler
4 lotleth troll
3 valroz
4 scaveging ooze
4 corpsejack menace
2 desecration demon
3 mangler
2 deathrite shaman
2 abrupt decay
3 golgari charm
2 heroes downfall
Nothing here that is going to see play besides maybe mark if we get late black removal.

Best cards in the pack by a mile (at least from what I can tell) are green.
Any thoughts on this pick?
is it erratic mutation, timebender or muck drubb ?
