Ah, Mutagenic Growth would be really cool here. Good idea. I already have x2 Assault Strobe.
Silhana Ledgewalker is definitely going in, I have it in another deck and it can be a house when it gets pumped. Rancor is usually amazing but here I'd rather use unblockable creatures and use instants/sorceries that trigger Kiln Fiend and Wild Defiance. I have x4 Groundswell that I might try out.
What can I do to help my land base? Is 22 land overkill or just enough? What are some good sideboard strategies for a quick aggro deck in this format? My other Modern deck is a mono-green ramp and plays much differently, so I'm unsure of the best way to run a faster deck.
Also, in terms of one drops would it be best to run Birds/Elves or a one drop beater?
Hey everyone. I need some serious help getting this deck up and rolling. I'm on a pretty strict budget as I'm laid off from work right now, but I could afford some cards if they're important or recommended enough. I am still trying to hammer out the best creature base for this. The sideboard is still incomplete (obviously) so any suggestions there are great.
As I'm on a budget, I can't compete well with a lot of the more popular Modern decks. My meta is relatively competitive, with lots of Jund and Tron in particular. I want something fast and that utilizes this pile of cards that I already have. Any and all help is appreciated; this doesn't have to be a super competitive deck, just something fun that I can pilot to a win sometimes at a local event.
I follow this forum quite regularly in my attempts to build more effective decks and wanted to become part of the community finally.
I play FNM every week which is a Standard tourney and a booster draft at my LGS. I also play in a small Modern tourney every week and some casual MTG with friends.
My favorite color to play is Green, with White in close second. Red and Black are fun as well, but I loathe playing Blue for some reason. Can't get the hang of it.
My hobbies are writing fiction, watching nature and cooking programs, reading fiction, cooking, MTG (obviously), music (classical, Irish folk, alternative rock), and taking care of animals.
I have two albino female rats, Ruby and Rosie. They're great pets, and rats are my favorite animals. Good thing they can be quite a strong tribe in MTG!
Some of my favorite shows are MST3K, Arrested Development, Flight of the Conchords, Friends, Nature, Top Chef, and the Daily Show. My favorite books are the Redwall series, Watership Down, The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, and more than I can name.
Ehm... I work in a tire plant, making motorcycle tires.
That's about it! I'm really looking forward to contributing and getting feedback on my decks here.
