Well, I do believe that when the cards come out we willdiscover new archetypes in draft, and they could work better than the planned by the Design team. You know, remember how Delver was a common card that people had no faith in it, and turned out it could be a Win Con in a great tempo deck? Sometimes they try and fail to predict all of the things.

Also, we can't know the archetypes without knowing the cards, because so far we know that only 'Goyf is there. And we shouldn't expect every single Tier 1/2 decks in modern right now to be a draft archetype, well, because of reasons. Obvious ones.

In my opinion he seems out of place and I feel the rarity was abused in order to move more product.

That was the real reason behind the rarity, this is no secret.

We are in a digital era where people think they need internet even in the bathroom (well, they do not need it, but that discussion should go on Water Cooler under economy topics). And their main product and sales yet are the paper games, even though the scene seems to show that in a couple years Magic Online and other digital products will generate them more income than paper. People carry their videogames everywhere, kids doesn't want to play sports anymore, unless it's in their PCs, etcetera. Walk on the streets and you'll see people affected by videogames even in the way they walk.

Wizards needs to sell. Mythic rarity is a way to do it. Of course I'd like to have my full set of, hmmm, everything, ready to play. But I can't, because we live in a capitalist world and that's how things works, infortunately. Making Tarmogoyf 'commonner' than Forests aren't healthy for a company.

The most important thing here he didn't even mention yet. The basic lands, are they the mythical #291 Lorwyn Swamp, things like that?

Jokes apart, that's very nice. Boosters with such nice cards. That's really nice, very interesting product. Congratulations again WotC!

Ahh haa haa! Referring to what i like to call the FTV: Desert Incident?

Seriously, there's too many staples in modern right now for too many competitive decks to just release event decks. IT'd have to be some sort of large set of cards. Like Chronicles, or think of it as "Modern Core Set"

I love the card Desert, but I'm just a grain of sand in here. (Get the reference? Huh? Huh?) - Yet, the card is useless except in places like my mind, where I can create pointless homebrew formats that having cards is a must)

The thing is, a product without fillers would be nice. I don't know if the Event Deck recipe will work right, because, remember the PDS product.

I'm just really afraid of the price, you know...

In all seriousness, I hope we get some AWESOME modern staples, like Fetchlands, Bob, Goyf, Jace, and all the other awesome staples. Cryptic would be nice too...

All in one set would make a fair ammount of players sell their cars to buy the product, but they could deliver hard-finding playables along with main staples (Bob, goyf, etc) in a regular way, like a 'yearly' product. But, please, no Desert ever again.

Oh boy, here comes the "Modern Player's Arsenal".
So, if this happens to be true, this could be a way to reprint the staples without ruining Standard. I just hope that this doesn't become some sort of FTV or any product that goes ten times the price of it's MSRP.

Slow down there! Cards have art?

Remember that large colored rectangle thing in the upper part of the card? That's the art. It's only purpose is to be a good spot to place your fingers while flicking cards and placing dice and counters.

In AVR prerelease Blood Artist creep'd me out too. Also, from Blood Artist, this isn't news, but, this. (And if you don't get the other reference, the card is a curse, so it enchants planeswalkers/players, which means, that's more proof that this is you in first person view.)

Quote me if you like but I'm 99% sure everyone making wild predictions is going to be disappointed.

But most predictions in a vacuum tend not to happen, unless it has a very specific basis on some sort of philosophy (e.g. Shocklands in RTR, because of the need of Modern reprints).

Most people here get their predictions wrong because some are wishes (and to be honest, I'd love Voidslime and Lightning Helix, but you won't see me posting that it should be reprinted, because this isn't about to happen just because I want it) and we, infortunately, do not think like the Wizards guys. Sometimes they are obliged not to print something because of the ambient of formats, because the reserved list (I was not registered in the forums yet, but I'm fairly sure everyone here remembers the mayhem until the list of FTV: Realms came, that lots of unaware people said that Tabernacle was a must on the edition), because it doesn't follow flavor, the mind when the card was made was another, the color pie suffered changes, random yadda yadda that MaRo will mention in State of Design and give reasons, etcetera.

If you really want to create spectations on the next set, keep your mind ready to get something really weak, so then you won't be disappointed (I'm quite sure I've read this somewhere else).

For the second five weeks of the RTR Launch League the owner of my local store has announced Rav Block + RTR constructed as a possible format.

What do you all think would be good in this format? I'm considering building Boros splash black for Bob for my deck.

In the community cup, it was suggested that Ravnica Unified could be a format. I just think that the majority of the non-B decks will be splashing black to play Bob, but beyond that, sounds awesome. I'd have to sell my car to acquire the Bobs and duals, but I'd love to play the format, that's for sure. Anything that follows a flavor from a plane, for me, has my support. (Well, I'm not sure that Simic could be a deck in Block Constructed for me to have a competitive deck or such, so, this sounds nice and I could easily follow it.)

    Yaaay first post.
