The End of an Era

I have a deck that does that. Primal Surge to all my library, then the draw triggers come, and Laboratory Maniac wins the game. If the guy can manage to destroy the Laboratory Maniacs, I kill myself. (I'll be honest with you: I've never died to that but the possibility is real, since when I know the guy's tapped, I go for the insta-win with Maniac. But when it doesn't happen, I stop at a Craterhoof or Akroma's Memorial.

I'm a little weird with my decks: If the deck is based from a block, I try to take the lands from the block. My BG Fungus had all Time Spiral lands, my WR Humans had all Avacyn Restored lands, my Simic Surge Elves has Return to Ravnica lands, my UG Infect will have Mirrodin/Scars of Mirrodin lands. But, I dislike very much full arts. I have some full arts, but, I don't quite like the way the frames are. I'm sure that by searching the cards I could easily buy lots of Zendikar ones, but, still, I don't like them.

    I prefer Islands.

This should be the only right answer.

That will be an Un-usual vote: Flaccify.
And, because we're running out of mainstream artists, I'd love a restart, but I'm not sure if it's viable.

I just realized that WotC missed a golden opportunity to put Rackling in Tibalt's deck instead of, or along with, Lavaborn Muse. A creature version of a classic torture device isn't merely right up Tibalt's alley, it practically is Tibalt's alley.

I guess we could point out certainly 300 cards that they could be on decks. Specially Tibalt's. But I won't lie to you: I loved Sorin's list. It might not have them big bombs as Path to Exile (that turned out as a card that the drawback was far more powerful for Koth than modern decks), Isochron Scepter, but, the list is so well made, that I liked it at the point that I'll try to forget the mistakes. I don't want to shut the haters, far from it: I still wanted two Lingering Souls instead of one in Sorin's, but, I think they should make less reprint mistakes on expert sets. Everyone would absolutely LOVE Lightning Helix, Coiling Oracle, Culling Sun etcetera.

I once heard that Mirrodin Pure vs. New Phyrexia was designed by players, and I'm sure they could put some more effort on that and make players design more often, even if, for starters, be at MTGO.

That likely has to do with FTV having a specific theme each time rather than a rule that cards are only printed in the series once.

I do agree that it's unlikely for them to put a card already featured in the series into another one though. This series is less specific as far as what cards are allowed, so I wouldn't be completely surprised if they did.

At the time you are pointing out that this could be a thing, I'm hoping that in a Time Spiral Pro Tour limited part, no human being that went x-0 used Desert.

    Victim of Night
    Duress (yet again).
    Also Liliana as both.
    Black is fine, quit crying.

Actually none of them (Liliana is indeed a very good B card but I'm sure it wouldn't be qualified as that) are what they are pointing. Victim of Night is far from being a Doom Blade (is it that hard to notice that Victim of Night has far more restrictions than Doom Blade, and has a more intensive mana cost?), and Duress far from being a IoK. Black's not fine. So isn't Blue (Where's our so loved Counterspell, or Mana Leak?) and Red (Lightning Bolt is now two-mana, seriously?). One could argue that While (Path to Exile) and green (Whatever you say, you can't prove points against Thragtusk) are aswell, but PtE is a extremely powerful card and Green has Thrag'o'tusk'o'mancer. And I'm sure that many people will try to point out that I'm wrong, and this thread will go nowhere. The thing is, the colors are shifting it's traits every block and set and because of that, we'll see new things. Of course we can't push it because, after all, we're in the middle of a Multicolored-block and after a block that asked us nicely "
Would'ya play with more than two colors? See, I've even made you enemy colored lands so you don't complain now, when you discover that the way we made the tribes aren't good or when Ravnica comes next."

After reading the decklists for these decks a second time, I realize that Tibalt's decks does not include any cards with the madness mechanic; why is that? It does include cards with flashback, which do negate the drawback of his first ability, but madness would have been absolutely perfect to use with his first ability, so the lack of any cards with that mechanic seems to be a major oversight/design flaw to me. What does everyone else say about that?

It wouldn't be Wizard's job if they did a RB Madness deck WITH Madness. It's like Venser's deck all over again: A lot of ETB blink triggers, that triggers more ETB blink triggers instead of triggers that could be helpful, and the deck doesn't have ANY Soul Sisters or any card that could be blinked in early game for value.

Edit: By the way, I don't even know how to describe how Venser's deck play, since I was interested on buying it before seeing the lists. But, really, if the game was a contest to see ETB blink triggers, this deck would be Tier 1. But I can't describe it. Is it a tap-out control thing (with big costed counterspells)? Is it midrange?

One to play, one to binder up. I liked the lists, despite I wanted 2x Lingering Souls instead of 1x.
And, who else is seriously considering to use Tibalt as a feeder for Faithless Looting discard?

I understand that rarity distribution is mostly made for limited. On the other hand, in limited, a rare is either powerful or it isn't. If I open a bad mythic or bad rare, I'll look down to uncommons/commons in any case. I understand that you don't want to have Gideons running around like headless chickens at your FNM, but even then, it could be addressed by designing the game to allow more responses to big threats instead of creating that rarity level that either shines or fails miserably.

But rarity doesn't mean "goodness", but complexity and other factors. You shouldn't immediate?y think that rares are automatically good cards.

When I have more than a creature with evolve on board, the most I do is playing either Pokémon's or Digimon's evolution themes while evolving them. I usually say them ridiculous creature types with Cavern of Souls quietly. Even when I combo out Primal Surge I'm calm down and mouth shut. But the evolve thing, it's a thing.

Regarding the MaRo's post, what is this I don't even.
I just made this Coiling Oracle signature yesterday and yet the hope for it is not dead! (By the way, if a thing so beautiful like that happens, I'm pretty sure that the next block we could see more Elves.)

Lotus Bloom. Despite how much I love playing with Coiling Oracle, it's art is not the most happy art design ever.
HMs to Faithful Squire/Kaiso, Memory of Loyalty, Sword of Fire and Ice and Leyline of the Meek.

Rest in Peace, Standard. Rest in Peace.

I'm pretty sure that there's an implicit rule in this forum that says if you don't like a card, you should post why it should automatically be banned, gathered, burned and deleted from all files and minds, the designer killed, the artist exiled, instead of trying to change decks, strategies or getting your game better.

Lost in the Woods is a brilliant art. Since I've never touched the actual card, feels bad for me that I just knew that the man is upside down because of the Arcana, but the art is magnificent.
