I'm in love with the way MTGColorPie just made up minds in here. I just hope I don't see people voting for Enchantments after reading that article then going on Water Cooler Talk Debate to complain about politicians and tax slavery or that Enchantments don't see lots of game on formats and the card is an unplayable OR a bearer for active enchantment hate sideboards.
The first thing to remember is the game is still a majorty of luck based.
Damn, Kibler is too damn lucky. Better carry more charms and I might be good as him someday.
By the way, how do I become pro at coin toss?
This topic is a whole mess of answers. Magic is far from being a luck game, and a pro wouldn't win the absurd numbers some of you posted. PVDDR went bad in GP Rio and a friend of mine just placed ahead of him. Deck choices, deck building, sideboarding strategies, inovative thinking, metagame reading, proper testing, knowledge of deck archetypes and decks, math, those are things that pros have better in more quantities. It's easy to say that "oh, pros are lucky", but isn't easy to look at cards and find out that Harvest Pyre exists and plays well with Boros Reckoner, or that Boros Ball is a bomb with Ajani, Caller of the Toilet Paper. Or to gamble and Char your opponent to three when dead on board and then topdeck Lightning Helix to his face.
In his article today on Blue & Black (from daily mtg) Mr. Rosewater said:
"...and splice, from Champions of Kamigawa (best known for its original use, "splice onto Arcane")."
The phrase, "original use," makes me wonder whether we'll have a reboot of splice in our future. A return to Kamigawa perhaps?
The rulebook always leave open spaces that can be filled in future. Like splice, other mechanics have seen some traits in regular sets but could see more in the future. For example, we have Soulbond, from our very dear Avacyn Restored:
702.93b A creature becomes "paired" with another as the result of a soulbond ability. Abilities may refer to a paired creature, the creature another creature is paired with, or whether a creature is paired. An "unpaired" creature is one that is not paired.
While we've seen Soulbond in regular sets, we didn't see soulbond cards that refers exclusively to the soulbond creature or the other soulbonded creature.
Oh god, the squirrel is so cute I want to kill myself.
Liz Nugent is doing a great job on those things. Too bad I couldn't reach my hands on Penguins Deluxe Bundle (well, the customs wouldn't let me anyways).
And yet I hope the PAX East panel revealing "Friends" (well, it won't be a surprise if they do that - also, I don't know if it will reveal "Friends", before you ask for sources) be conclusive on the block's theme.
If its a land it better be blue only control decks need to be viable again ravnica ruined everything
It won't be a land that will make MUC viable.
Also, why would you want a MUC deck in the same standard as a Multicolored Block (given that the card will be printed in "Friends" block).
Situations that I scoop:
- Dead on board next turn;
- Guy just showed the combo, if it is insta-win;
- Impossible to pull the victory;
- Game 2, I won the first game and the game is not favorable for me.
When on turn:
After draw/Momir, GY and hand has can't pull a game turner.
Innistrad is "my" block and Avacyn Restored is "my" set
So no
Except that Innistrad is one of the greatest blocks ever released. It had so many cards to be played in so many formats, and even metagame defining and introducing decks. Despite the poor reception, I do like Avacyn Restored aswell (note that I don't play Limited AND I used to play Human decks before AVR, so, it's kind of biased, but opinions are).
I always loved Blink/Flickering as a mechanic, and had twice RW/UW Blink (or blink based) decks. And after I just made this signature, I just fell in love with DD: Venser vs. Koth. And I'm buying it. The worst Duel Decks ever.
I don't blame you.
I voted creature, but wanting to vote for land. I just want to know how the leash they put on this thing is. Also, when they pick the creature types, we couls have a hint of what's coming next.

Grave Bramble is a card.

And, besides the fact I voted creature the first time, I still want lands.
