This is a "bad" mythic only in the sense that it's not a pushed, efficient creature designed for constructed play. This *is* a mythic creature in the ways I've always thought mythics should be - massive, imposing, and awe-inspiring. That being said, by WotC's recent mythic designs, this feels like it should have haste and ward regardless of if you cast it from hand or not. Since I'm pretty sure there's no reanimator in Standard, and we *just* got a "Non-Legendary Reanimator" theme in MH2.
I think the issue many people have just comes down to MtG being a Fantasy card game, by their standards. Now you can certainly make the argument that Magic has strayed away from High Fantasy and has dabbled in steam punk, Historical Fantasy, Folklore Fantasy, a strange caliber of sci-fi fantasy (Kaladesh), and has even included "gunpowder fantasy" (Portal 2), and D&D, while a separate IP, is still a high fantasy setting that compliments what MtG has been all about in the past - but one thing Magic has never done is let the 20th/21st Centuries bleed into the product in the form of Denim Jeans, Cowboy Hats, and Sneakers. And that seems to be what these UB sets - Walking Dead and Stranger Things thus far - have been, and will be, doing. People like to forget about the real world, and it seems like these IPs are extremely grounded in augmenting our own existing day-to-day existence. I think that's what's truly irking everyone. It's what's irking me, but I'm not gonna Gatekeep and refuse to play with people who want to run these cards, I'm just gonna continue to play with my high fantasy-flavored cards.
I've never seen stranger things, but from what i know, aside from the girl with brain powers, does anyone else on the show have a specific "skill" that could transfer to a card?
Kev Walker is one of the few artists still working today who started at MtG with the old border. His work looks great in that frame. Now we have both Generous Gift and Beast Within in old border.
It's too bad it doesn't work with Urza's Saga or it might have been solid.
Why not? its a 0 Mana Value spell in the deck
No, it's a spell with no mana value. Different than a 0 mana value spell. (Mishra's Bauble is an example of an artifact with mana value 0. Cards like Sol Talisman and Lotus Bloom can't be found off the saga.)
They just keep uppin' the ante, making the OG Enchantress worse than obsolete.
Verduran Enchantress, yes. But unless they give us something with shroud or hexproof like Argothian Enchantress, I don't think this will manage to be a viable deck in Modern.
With a name like that, I honestly thought Raving Visionary would be mono-red or UR.
The art also makes me think it has red in the design at some point. Like maybe originally the first ability was R[tap] with only the delirium ability being U[tap]. Dunno though.
I've always been a fan of Gossamer Chains - small, very specific window to activate, but it's fogging a creature anyway, and you just recast it to trigger all the constellations and enchantress cards.
All these reanimator-focused cards in this set are 4+cmc. If they want Reanimator to be viable in Modern, they need another cheap reanimation spell like Persist.
This only comes into play untapped as your first or second land. If it's your third land, it comes into play tapped.
It's all perspective! You're looking at that crab from the point of view of a sand louse!

Yeah, I was really hoping we'd see some sort of whimsical Llorwyn-esque of Theros-esque enchantment land.
