EpicBurrito posted a message on Should Commander/Planechase cards be legal in Modern?I feel like it's a little too late for this to happen. If they did it now we'd basically just have legacy without reserve list cards. If they did it proactively (i.e. all future supp products) it would just be confusing.Posted in: Modern

EpicBurrito posted a message on Cards that should be reprinted to enter the Modern card poolTezzeret, Agent of Bolas would be pretty great with Baleful Strix.Posted in: Modern

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Primer] G/W Auras (Bogle)Attempting to make a good deck budget by cutting the expensive cards is just shooting yourself in the foot. Swap the fetches for pain lands if you will, but the horizon canopies and the daybreak coronet are very essential. Also cutting to 18 lands is a horrible idea, you will regularly mull to 4 or 5 in this deck, cutting lands just makes your draws even more unreliable.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Primer] Melira Pod / Angel Pod / Junk Pod / Abzan Pod (8/2011 - 1/2015)What are you trying to do? Your goal against them is not to win the early game. You aren't going to win a turning sideways race. Try and survive with health gain and toughness sinks like Kitchen Finks and Obstinate Baloth. Then go for an infinite kill when you have secured your gameplan.Posted in: Modern Archives - Proven

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Single Card Discussion] Xenagos?I tried something like that, however I felt like my deck could not decide between being midrange or aggro. Just kind of felt schizophrenic. Good call on the thruns though, that guy is my jam.Posted in: Modern

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Primer] G/W Auras (Bogle)The problem with Auratog is that Kor Spiritdancer is just the same but better. A lot of decks run 2 or so spiritdancers, if you want more of that effect just play 4 of them instead of 2.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Deck] Red Devotion Wins (RDW)I would drop the flame slash in favor of something a bit more aggressive. I always feel that when I'm in a fast acting red deck I don't want to waste my time with their creatures, I want to just blow them out quickly.Posted in: Modern Archives - Deck Creation

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Primer] Burn (1/2011 - 11/2015)My problem with gitaxian probe is it makes your mulligans unreliable. If you're staring at a hand of 1-2 gitaxian probes you have no idea what those are going to turn into. They can turn into lands or they can turn into lightning bolts. Other than that, cycling + look at hand is pretty great for 2 life.Posted in: Modern Archives - Proven

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Single Card Discussion] Xenagos?Well, I will make a list tonight after work and grind out a few games on cockatrice. I can think of a few ways to make this a fun deck, if not t1, thanks to modern's ridiculous collection of utility lands prime time can pull from.Posted in: Modern

EpicBurrito posted a message on Modern Mana BaseHonestly if you're going for a budget deck then it's better to just go straight on the budget train the whole way. It's better to craft your own budget idea than to take a top tier deck like pod or something and try and cram substandard lands into it to make it cheaper. It's important to note that budget != bad, but budget also != top tier that runs inferior cards.Posted in: Modern

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Primer] Burn (1/2011 - 11/2015)Fetch lands can fetch any land that has the specific land type it searches for. I.e. forest, mountain, island, swamp, plains. So an arid mesa can search for any land in your deck with the type plains or the type mountain. Which includes things such as Sacred Foundry, Godless Shrine, Mistveil Plains.Posted in: Modern Archives - Proven

EpicBurrito posted a message on Modern Mana BaseI wouldn't bother with panoramas. Any combination of fancy lands will easily comprise a 2-color deck, with 3 color being slightly more difficult, but not by much. Aggro decks work great with the scars fastlands, shocks are good in everything, the filters work better in my experience in slower decks like midrange, the innistrad/core set buddy lands work with anything running shocks. Pain lands are a dollar or two (last I checked), so they fit great into budget decks.Posted in: Modern

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Single Card Discussion] Ashiok Nightmare WeaverI feel like the new Elspeth just flat out costs too much mana. Why play her when you can play all the other planeswalkers in modern, like Gideon, Elspeth Knight errant, etc.Posted in: Modern

EpicBurrito posted a message on [Single Card Discussion] Xenagos?Lantern, have you tried the old standard strategy of throwing in 4 cloudposts, and lowering the number of wolf runs? You can also run grove of the burnwillows for easy colors at little cost to yourself. That 1 life will mean little when there's a titan barging down your door.Posted in: Modern
