Hi! Nice deck you build dude, i'm in the process of building Volrath too, after a few years away from EDH (and mtg) i decided to go with this badass piece of magic history (he's not only a legend)
Will post my list as soon as i get my 99 defined. C ya
I didn't say that this card is now the number one tutor target. But in some cases you may need to tutor this.
And even if you don't tutor it, it's a nice card to have. We are only comparing this with the chief and the marshall because the ability (or not) to search it in our deck, and forgetting about the rest of the card. I play the goblin subtheme as many here, but i don't play a goblin deck, i try to look for the best out of my 99 and i think that this one card my be best in this particular slot. I still have a lot of goblin to tutor, and a lot of nasty sh*t to do with them that not necesarily needs the chief or the marshall, that's why in my particular opinion i consider the card as an improvement.
But this is EDH pals and every deck is a different universe I love spoiler season and all this productive talking
Hello everyone, it's been a while since my last post but i'm back :3
About Chandra's parents, i kinda like them, i play Beetleback Chief over Goblin Marshal for the lower cost and i can see this new card replacing the chief.
So here are the pro/cons i think this card has.
PROS.
-Human: not a huge thing but it make the card bounceable (is this even a word xD) with Norin+Curio
-2 Str: tutoreable with Imperial Recruiter
-Tokens: the card put the same amount of tokens that the card we are replacing but with a HUGE (yeah, that huge) advantage, the flying word. We know that sometimes flying things get out of hand for our deck, and maybe this is not the definitive answer but i can see it as a good place to start at least n__n
-Artifact-Gang Effect: another great thing about this card is this, we have a few artifacts to cheat a few damage and we also have a dude that love artifacts related things (Daretti)
CONS.
-Not a goblin: yeah, the creature type is a pro AND a con, if this card were a goblin it would be just perfect, but not. It's not. So we only hve one way to tutor it (two actually but the random discard can play against us sometimes).
Good evening everyone (7pm here), i want to share with you the main 60s i'm currently testing and a few possible changes that i've been thinking lately. After reading the complete thread twice i put together this cards (the mana base is the same as Lee Shi Tian's deck, i just love the configuration so far):
I have my doubts in the Nyx-Fleece Ram slots and the Dragon Mantle slots. Nyx-Fleece Ram could be either Rattleclaw Mystic (for explosiveness) or maybe switching them into more deck manipulation. Dragon Mantle is the "hard choice". Sometimes they work perfectly (i even won a game or two by making infinite mana and atacking with an enchanted critter for 20+), but sometimes is just the worst card in the deck. I like the fact that can prevent a Dromoka's Command for hurting us bad and the trigger/cantrip effect for only R, but again ... sometimes is SO bad, and i don't want bad cards or circunstancial cards in the deck, i want to maximize consistency. I thought of cutting them for 1 Twinflame (another way to combo out if something go terribly wrong), 1 Taigam's Scheming and 1 Treasure Cruise. Or maybe another tool to get more deck manipulation but that still help me with Ascendancy triggers. Maybe some token generator as Raise the Alarm or Secure the Wastes to fight against aggro decks and Foul-Tongue Invocation ? (that card is seeing a lot of play lately)
Sorry if this is TL:DR but i'm trying to get the best out of the deck.
@fncmtg there's a special thread on Proven section for jeskai builds and it had a lot of discussion about tokens build lately.
@narex456 kiora and narset are very different in what they do, and what you try to do with them. I preffer the +1 of Narset cause it let me fight trough control hand disruption by adding cards to my hand, and i feel like the ult is superior (i prefer to combo out without interaction than putting a few 9/9 tokens and try to win in the combat step)
I like Ojutai a lot in the sideboard, and is something i've been thinking about. I also think that may be worth including Keranos, God of the Storm
What do you guys think about Narset Trascendent in the sideboard against control decks ? I kinda like the +1 to help us prepairing to a turn 5 - 6 win, and if it goes unanswered her ulti is pretty much a wincon against them.
I know the meta in Bs.As. i live here after all n__n
About the SB strategy i'm looking (besides the 3/4 swan songs) to use 60% slots in UB and the others in agro matchups, after all we just need to slow them a little to combo off . Still working in the idea of a transformational sideboard , but i cant find somthing that convices me
Hi, i been stalking this thread lately and i must ask: what do you think about the impact of PTDTK results on the metagame, and particularly against our deck (i play this too clearly).
dnLL, i still doesn't find the spot for Descent Dragons. I know i want to play it in my 99, but don't know where. Mogg Infestation and Aftershock are not going anywhere and i really don't think that the new card replaces any of these 2. I think that it might be time for Iron Myr to go, but don't know for sure. What's your opinion on the small Myr ?
Well, i'm returning to play competitive standard and i build a Jeskai Tokens deck with Monastery Mentor (i just don't like rabblemaster, no need to argue wich is better n__n) So here's what i've been playing if you can help me with the decklist/gaming tips/etc i would be very happy, im pretty rusty on the game. As soon as i start playing tournaments i will bring you reports so you can see.
