Because atheist look at things in a different way. If we didn't have all of these different religions and extremism maybe we could learn to respect one another. I am not really a fan of classic rock, but IMO john lennon had it right with Imagine.
Government is somewhat natural, but somewhat a construct.
As for rights they are not natural. We are not born with any certain rites without a governing body to make sure these rights are not infringed upon. In anarchy the only rights are to fight for survival and hope not to fall short.
SIDENOTE/FUN FACT: Found this when pulling the data off SSA.gov for cardfather... Apparently people born on Jan 1st are actually treated for SSA purposes to have been born in the previous year - when the question comes up on Jeopardy and one of you wins $800 for it, you owe me half for pointing it out. (And side-sidenote: I wonder why they bothered... someone sue them over a birth certificate's time/date stamp being dubious or something?)
I thought we were talking about average not minimums? It doesn't matter, but that is good trivia. I'll be sure to send you half of any party bets I win with that.
Then you have half years.. why.. 59.5 64.5 70.5 et et. It's like they want people to miss a cuttoff or underwithdraw.
Personally I don't have a problem calling it Senior Welfare or making it as such (means testing), but as i have stated earlier that is political suicide.
Plus to do so you have to set the bar pretty high like 5M networth because otherwise you discourage people from saving for themselves.
In the office and in presentations, we use $5M as a baseline target for when people can stop worrying about if/when their money is going to run out. AKA "Wealthy"
we use a five million dollar benchmark as wealthy? Damn I could live off of 1mill happily for the rest of my life.
If anything was done to it I would love to see it become more like the systems of eastern European countries and others. Essentially the government sets money back with your name on it until you retire.(some match your contributions to an extent) Then you get a bit of it each month and any money left over goes into an heirs "account" and does the same each time over and over again.
This would essentially just force people to save which is a good think IMO. A large part of people don't think about saving even a few dollars a check goes a long way after 30-40 years of working.
H.J.RES.15: Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.
Personally I don't support this bill and I do not believe it will be ratified. Do you support the liberals' attempt at abolishing presidential term limits?
It's not the liberals, it's one Democrat who has proposed it... and he's been doing so every two years since 1997 from what I've read
QFT.
I am not necessary against this bill per se. Presidential terms are not that big of a deal IMO. I think it would be hard for any president to get reelected to a third term anyways. I can't think of a modern president that would have won a third term anyways.
On the flipside I really think we should add an amendment limiting congress members to 2-3 terms.
If you had to choose, which option would you pick and why?
1.) Knock Jund colors down a peg. Ban Bloodbraid Elf and Deathrite Shaman in February
-OR-
2.) Up the power-level of the other colors. Unban Ancestral Vision in February and Unban Jace the Mindsculptor, Stoneforge Mystic, Bitterblossom, and Ponder over the course of 2012
you mean 2013?!?
I will take 1 even though I am opposed to banning DRS. I really don't want stoneforge in the format and jace and ponder don't really do enough.
The perfect world IMO would be
1. ban BBE and LotV(liliana)
2. Unban AV, mox, preordain, and wild nact
Then if control is still bad unban sword of the meek. If some combo deck gets OP from mox or preordain ban one of the combo pieces from it.
should be a 1 of in control decks. Tron might or might not want it since uw tron isn't really a control deck in modern. This could change, but I still think gifts is just better.
Liliana's actively bad against a lot of strategies, though. It's why some Jund builds in the format have stopped running her (although Bogle.dec kinda forced her back in.)
Bad against affinity, eggs, tron, and not great in the mirror. Good against other combo decks(not eggs) and anything that tries to control.
What its good against
UW resto
UW/x other decks
twin
storm
BUG
POD(both forms)
sometimes scapeshift
DRS is good against a lot of the same decks, but is mostly not very good against control decks. Sure it turns off snapcaster and mana ramps, but if you remove lily as a target to mana ramp into nothing else is really impressive. I guess BBE, but meh its not as good if it can't hit lily either.
I am not the biggest fan of the card however it will see some play. I am excited about esper control it has been so long. This with snappy, good removal, lingering souls, think twice, maybe some other flashback cards. Sprinkle in a few miracles, a few planeswalkers, and maybe an angel of serenity for good measure.
What is the most powerful tool in magic? Options. This is the disconnect with comparing DRS to creatures like snapcaster and bbe. DRS provides what most people should know as"toolbox utility" in that its whatever you want whenever you want it. This is seen in cards like charms, each of whose effects is mediocre on their own, or jitte. Whatever you need them to do, whether you need to keep a lead or your back is against the wall, they are the catch all to all situations. Snapcaster has the same play every time. And bbe has a random play every time.
We can see DRS being a problem by looking at everything under the sun that isnt jund. Every noncombo deck running green or black is trying it out, and most are keeping it. Its becoming a staple in RDW for Christ's sake. We just see it as most a problem in Jund because Jund is the strongest deck in the realm that can run it, so its the strongest deck with it.
And Everyones arguing "banning DRS will hurt a lot of decks but banning bbe will only hurt Jund." And id agree with you mostly, but thats why DRS SHOULD be banned. Its a catchall answer to everything that fits anywhere. Limiting build diversity and stifling deck building.
Think about the ban list. Deck specific cards like nacatyl and GGT are prime to be the first to come off them. Whats not coming off? Jace? Ponder? Jitte? And why not? Because they go in ****ing everything. Its the toolbox catch all cards that provide the real problem for the format.
To be fair Liliana offers the same type of versatility while effecting the board. DRS is great, but it also forces you to build your deck a certain way. I don't guess I have seen any RDWs decks running him, although if you splash black he is essentially a better lavamancer. Worse on mana though and can't kill pesky blockers. I would probably have lavamancer over him thinking about it.
I am happy that DRS has help to lead the slight resurgence of zoo. Hopefully this trend continues further than random daily events and 1 PTQ.
so dimir charm is a worse izzet charm... meh. Both third abilities are comparable except izzet charm gets you two deep immediately instead of having to wait to draw a card.
I might not even play dimir charm in standard much less modern.
The "clone" spell has a really derpy mana cost. Boros keyrune seems fine for limited if unexciting. Mind grind is a joke unless you want to use it as a win condition of something when you can put X=15 or so. Mind funeral was the same card except it had a static cost of 1UB and stated 4 lands. For 1UB this might mill 3 cards....
Also am I the only one who is tired of mill? It is essentially never good and just takes up slots where we could get good things like instant speed card draw, or a good bounce spell, or a half-way decent counterspell. We still have a bunch of cards to go, but I am quickly losing faith.
I almost puked. First ability is bad, second ability is worse, and third is card disadvantage. Could it of killed them to make it instant or sorcery? It would have still ben meh, but damn.
I had high hopes for dimir, but it seems wotc just wants us to play mill.:-/
I think the role that sports play in our schools should be reexamined - it's not always positive (see, for example, the rape case in Steubenville, Ohio).
I think we spend too much money on them in many places. And football is one of the worst offenders - it's one of the most expensive sports to play, because it requires a large field and a lot of equipment. And when high school sports is given too much importance it can lead to giving the players a pass on things that others would not receive. It also does, of course, cause brain damage as was mentioned.
Does that mean it should be "banned"? No. With regards to injuries, however, I do think it would be a good idea to consider ways to make the game safer. The way the game is played now makes it more dangerous than it used to be in some ways, because while the helmets and pads make high velocity collisions more bearable, they do not prevent brain damage that occurs from the brain banging around inside the skull. The fact that it's a routine part of the sport is what makes it so damaging.
We ought to look at how we could change the game to have less emphasis on butting heads together at high speed. And no, I don't think that it will make the game suck or make it wussy or whatever - it wasn't always played this way and plenty of sports have made safety changes without becoming worthless.
The NFL doesn't have to adopt such changes, but I think that public schools maybe should be required to. When its minors playing, safety concerns should be given more emphasis. The younger the players, the more emphasis.
Also when we're examining school budgets and so forth, I think athletics should be given more consideration, considering winning sporting competitions is not really the focus of school at all. Conversely, physical education should not be cut as much as it is. The difference between the two, however, is that school sports many times only benefit a minority of students while the students who would benefit most from better P.E. classes are unlikely to partake in school sports.
Most of these things also apply to public universities. There are some other issues there as well - scholarship money, lower academic standards for players, whether the athletes are truly getting a good education (there have been cases where college players graduated while being illiterate), whether the restrictions on athletes money-making activities are fair. The illiterate athlete isn't allowed to make money from his sports playing, but he also isn't getting an education that will help him should he be injured or not good enough to make a living playing sports. And of course, we saw with Penn State that too much worship of an athletic program can be a very bad thing.
That isn't to say that there aren't many good things about high school and college sports, at all, but it is given a bit too much importance if you ask me.
Does any of that add up to "football should be banned" for any particular group? No.
I honestly think that sports in general play a large role in the development of our youth. Not to mention that people who play sports at any level tend to be healthy. I funding to schools is too low then we need to spend more and cut form something else or find some more revenue. Paying for PE, sports, music, and art programs is really important. There is a reason why our country has falling numbers in the IQ department.

My opinion:
Yes.
2/3 terms would be my number.
I was going to add a poll although it seems I can only do that before posting the thread. Oh well.
