The resiliency/top deck is the worse problem. Play vs Draw matters too but we can deal with a T2 Baral/Electromancer and can interact at instant speed. 4 ooze is huge in this MU. I think you need another hate card and getting that into the main seems to be the way to go.
I just feel like even our average draw should beat their nut draw. At least the first 6 or 7 cards. After that it's up in the air. But again, Disruption + Clock is so good.
Yes, a 3/3 split. The idea is to pre-SB a bit. By going down 1 Scooze in the SB (so up to 4 G 2-3) you'll be able to pick up a faster GY hate card in addition, since the GY slots in the SB stay the same. You'll lose a bit of equity in G1 but I think what you'll pick up post board will make up for it, especially in the GY matches.
I really think this deck can be a favorite vs Storm but only if it is the more controlling version. Reshapper just seems more mid-rangey.
Love Todd Stevens, but this was kinda like akin to a publicity stunt. I don't think he expected to ever hit top 8 with this deck. I don't think this deck is better than what's out there. At all.
Oh for sure. 5-3 is acceptable, but he missed Day 2 didn't he? Still, the FB Modern Eldrazi group went nuts and Delay "spiked". It's interesting to see some new brews and this kind of interaction between a pro and his fans. He's definitely on my radar now, such as it is.
Todd took down Esper Death's Shadow on the play in 2.
I'm just parroting the chat but is sounds like Stevens got the list from one of his stream subscribers and ran it b/c he lost a bet/got 100 subs over Xmas streaming.
The more I discuss and talk about Journey to Eternity, the more I like it. It certainly doesn't help in our bad matchups which is legit but there are a lot of decks like grixis, jund, etc that would have a hell of a hard time with instant speed goyfs or hell smashers.
If you can put it on a reshaper the value you get is just insane as long as it sticks and you can kill it. There is value in even using removal on your own guy as it comes back. Wonderful mirrorbreaker card. I'll try it in my 75 but I'm not overly optimistic about it. I hope I'm wrong.
"It's a trap!"
Try 1 in the 75 as a fun-of or something. The Cave half is fine. The aura half is terrible. Let me know what you cut for it. I highly doubt it will be good enough to grind back your own removal spell. And if you do, wouldn't you just be winning that game anyway? I suspect D90Dennis14 is right. But it's definitely worth throwing 1 or 2 in to try out, to definitively know. You'll learn a bit about the shell along the way.
It's nice to see Golgari get one of these flip cards though and great that its good enough to come up in conversation.
Not good enough here. PtE is too prevalent. Rock decks are looking to get to into top-deck mode ASAP so cards need to have an immediate impact and this is pretty slow. Liliana, the Last Hope is probably better.
So this isn't a BG list but Eric Frolich just wrote about a RG deck by Bsweitz that went 5-0. I don't really want to clutter up our thread with an off color list but the main deck is something like 10 cards off from Edel's list. Seems like the Green non-tron Eldrazi shell is getting locked down and the question is which color to pair it with. https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/deck-of-the-day-r-g-eldrazi-modern/
I'll admit I just nabbed a playset of Endbringers while they're stupid cheap just in case....
yeah, I honestly think Bearer of Silence is only there to "tutor" up with Ancient Stirrings if you really need the removal part of it. If not, then it just gets sorted to the bottom of your library and you never have see it.
What really strikes me is the inconsistency in terms of either a T1 bird or T1 Thoughtseize. Typically we see 6 of one or the other. There are the 6 1 drops so I think it's reasonable to expect to have a T1 play but 60% of the time it will be the bird. Is that what you want against 60% of the field? I just don't think so. Only 2 LotV minimizes what seems to me to be the best thing to use the bird for on T2, although I suppose TKS is good too.
So what's the curve supposed to be?
Bird, TKS, Smasher, Endbringer?
Sure, it's good but also seems really fragile to me.
Not running Goyf seems wrong, even with the Relics in play. Generally, I'm a fan of Discard over the mana dorks but I can see wanting to go the other way. T2 LotV has always been good and I bet a T4 End Bringer is good too. IF you can untap with it....

As I said, just try it out for a couple weeks.

Red for Ancient Grudge and Crumble to Dust? The black disruption and removal seems much better. How does that red deck beat Storm?
