Seems perfect for RG tokens. I think the dream scenario is T1 mana dork, T2 Curse of Predation, T3 Purphoros/Ogre Battledriver, T4 any of the bomb 5CC token makers (Seige-Gang, Deranged Hermit, or Tempt with Vengeance). Xenagos loves this deck too.
Depending on how slow/dragon-y your cube is, Plasm Capture might be worth looking at if you're not restricting yourself to 3cc-only spells.
And of course, Mystic Snake but that wouldn't really be a cancel variant.
Multicolor gods could use hybrid mana and be templated like "As long as your devotion to X or Y is..."
But I'm not sure if they've ever started a set with gold cards and then introduced hybrids halfway through.
They seem to be pushing red tokens a bit, so who knows, maybe we'll get a human or satyr version of Siege-Gang Commander.
So is anyone still playing this guy? Right now my cube is using Sheoldred, Whispering One as our top-end black reanimator fatty (although she is often hard-cast as well), but I'm tempted to add one more.
Great review! I haven't tested Steam Augury yet but it seems fun and potentially powerful. I would have ranked it a little more conservatively, but otherwise I think your list is pretty spot on. Thanks for putting it together!
If the rare betstow cards are a cycle, Boon Satyr is all we're gonna get. The blue and red ones are still waiting to be spoiled though. /fingerscrossed
I'd be more willing to bet G 2/1 with some crappy Heroic ability at Uncommon, although that might be too similar to the black 2/1.
I think I'm gonna try her in place of Catastrophe. Catastrophe can seal the deal when you're ahead or reset the board when you're behind, but I suspect that Elspeth will be more useful in average board states and will be drafted higher overall.
We tested it for a few weeks and it was pretty terrible. It makes blue mages salivate when they're holding a Control Magic/Treachery.
I remember the one time someone finally got a swing in and made a token, it got hit with a Detention Sphere the next turn.
Hornet Queen is miles better for the reasons whydirt stated above.
It's fun in the mimic vat/sneak attack deck, and the huge amount of damage from just one card can close out games. That said, unless I'm heavy red I would rather just have a burn spell which is easier to cast and more versatile.
Ooh, those lands would be sweet. If not that, then I would at least like to see them complete the man-land cycle from Zendikar.
Also on my wishlist:
White - aggro 1 drop
Blue - a counterspell that doesn't suck
Green - a good 6 drop
Red - aggro 1 drop
Black - a non-Liliana, non-Sorin planeswalker
Finally, since a lot of the current standard powerhouse cards like Thundermaw Hellkite and Hellrider will be rotating out, if Wizards wants to keep RDW viable, I expect they'll give red some nice new toys. Hopefully that bodes well for cube.
Purphuros + this = gg?

Tom LaPille was on the dev team. Probably not a coincidence that Theros got a ton of sweet cube cards.

On topic, this card is great!
Bant: Noble Hierarch
Esper: Sphinx of the Steel Wind
Naya: Wild Nacatl
Grixis: Nightscape Familiar
Jund: Broodmate Dragon
None of them necessarily push you into drafting 3 color decks around them, but they are nice bonuses if they do happen to wheel to you late.
