A few i did last week, with prerelease (which i won mine! woot! first prerelease win) i haven't painted this week yet i gotta crack down got tons of theros to paint.

    Bayou:
slightly inspired by will o the wisp, but bayou was from my imagination lol

    Chromatic Lantern:
just gave it some color, and yeah i was into the fairy wisps last week Smile

    Daze:
    Simple extension, but looked cool

    Eternal Witness:
    new background

    Plateau:
Just changed the color pallette on this one

    Sensei's Divining Top:
This was an attempt at a style i've admired on here,... wasn't overjoyed with my results but learned alot of lessons to fix next time. You can't tell but the gold/copper areas are metalic.

I believe some employees from WotC has stated Ashiok as a no-sex being. Thus him or her doesn't really matter.

Edit: Btw I've heard a few guys playtest Ashiok and the experience has not been in Ashiok's favor. However it may just be the wrong shell. I have no source on this.

I'll accept "no-sex" you had just emphasized the "her" so i figured i would emphasize the lack of breasts and the strong jaw in the picture Smile

I think it will take a very interesting, almost "rock" style dimir deck to make Ashiok work right. Its far to early to rule "it" out as just garbage as most people keep arguing though. Its deff no Tibalt (at least not yet).

Ashiok will likely follow the road of Chandra 4: We'll never be in agreement whether the PW is bad or good and will have to wait for people to pick it up to see if it'll hold or leak.

Personally I find "her" design interesting but would so much more enjoy a PW that's not so hellbent on only working within itself. If you'd be able to throw in any exiled creature it could be fun.
Or if it was targeting opponent graveyards (aka it could work in milling, black discard/kill-control, pretty much the archtype control of UB). If her abilities and stats had to be changed slightly I guess I could accept that if it wouldn't screw her too much.

However as she is right now I wouldn't hold my breath regarding her playability, most of all because she provides full information. The best possible Dimir-honoring would have been to let her exile face-down for you to look at, would have been a perfect mind-game.

    ... it's a "him" Smile

And once again.. i like him, though i can't decide if he's great or not i am much more interested in testing him than Chandra 4.0, and that says a lot at least. Dimir was deff in need of something playable as blue and black cards seem to have had their mana costs sky rocket despite none of the good cards that made lower costed spells crazy never get reprinted. It doesn't make sense but oh well its where magic has gone.

Important* I was just informed (through a group on Facebook) that eBay is having all of the MTG Alters, printed or painted, taken down and the Seller's accounts frozen.

Has anyone here ran into this problem yet? I am trying to figure out if maybe it is eBay not being able to tell the painted ones from the blatant rip off copyright infringement printed cards.

@Rawlfull yes, more details and outlines and I think you have a winner! =)

I'm not sure if perhaps the facebook person who said it is possibly the one who got their stuff infractioned/taken down and account frozen, but i've got 13 auctions up right now and they are still there with bids, in addition, i did a search for "mtg alter" under "newly listed" and a ton of those printed ones were up and a few painted ones too. (newly listed is usually within 24 hours of your search). If you don't use Ebay often for selling, you might not know that us "hand painted" artists ARE few and far inbetween lol. There are usually between 5-6 pages (using 200 items per page) at any given time (and that seems to be how many are up currently in the "auction only") and only 1/4 of that might be actual painted artwork (if we are lucky). If they do however take it down or ban it from ebay i pretty much will be done with altering Frown i have no other means of exposure or sale at this time. I do know an ex friend tried to do some alters and put naked ppl on them and got their account frozen and auctions taken down, this happens even with "skantily clad" sometimes, so that might be what happened.

Edit: i would also like to note, if they are worried about "altered" work they should start with ACTUAL websites who sell them in mass quantities instead of ebay. It would make more sense to stop the 1 guy photocopying and ruining cards on website x from producing 1000 cards a day, than the "mom and pop" type hand painted artists who might sell 50 cards a month on ebay. I just don't see the logic? (this also could include websites like CardKitty (whom i admire) but Wizards basically made that duo famous and if they shut individuals down for hand painting artwork, they can't leave a select few to be the publics only options)... deep down though i think this is not an all encompassing lot of alterers, i think perhaps a few got clumped up in some of the counterfet photocopiers by accident and unfortunately there's never a way to prove anything with ebay.

How many have you tested this?
i have only tested it against a not updated Rock deck, and a not updated borosdeck wins. It held up pretty good considering i let them keep the stuff that's rotating out.
It looks like you need 2 cards (swine, swan) + ratchet to remove opponen't permanents. Which is not a good idea. Supreme verdict alone solve problems with ease, why complicate urself with 2 cards combinations?
I think that each of those cards are actually decent removal on their own, they just have a certain "pazaz" when you use them together. I don't mind turning their cards or delaying a swing by faltering their other plans a turn, it also gives me another chance at pulling a ratchet bomb. Even if i don't pull it, i've delayed their turn by using swine or swan, and if i only pull ratchet bomb it gets rid of something eventually as well. I do see how the 2 card combo might be slower, but that's why the side has supreme verdict, for things like faster agro, i tend to however play midrangy people.
I can understand if you play some curse of the swine in sideboard to handle indestructible gods tho.
(noted) They very well may be sideboard worthy, it's still in its infancy. And my first glance is you'll not survive monored aggro. Magma Jet willl kill daxos before he gains you life. And you'll runs out of cards pretty quickly.
I pretty much said Red would be the decks biggest problem. And even if they remove him, he served the purpose of preventing ME from taking that damage.

I think it's not a good idea. I might be wrong, just lemme know your future test result.
It very well may not be the best of ideas, i'm just trying to think outside the box, and give UW that "rock" deck kinda feel to it. I will be testing it more of course and if people around me would hurry up and make a post rotation deck that would help.

    EDIT :
Wait.. 22 lands? It a horrible idea. Maybe it's not a control deck. There is no way a control deck can survive with 22 lands. 26 is minimum. Plus, 4 sphinx and every your 6 drops (you even have 2 aetherlings which need a ton mana to maintain) in 22 land deck is a nightmare.
26 lands seems excessive? For a minimum i think maybe not. I've never ran a deck (ever) with more than 26 lands lol, i also have been told i have mana-luck though, so far 22 is okay for me. Of course i never try to pick up my entire deck with Sphinx either. I started with 20 lol. I only added the 2 extra because of guildgates/tapped land. I can see maybe 24 working with more ease though 26+... i'm just skeptical i'll be drawing only mana and nothing useful considering we don't have great "extra" card draw anymore.
    EDIT 2 :
Pretty nice alters you got there Grin

Thankie, lol.. i'm probably much better at painting cards than playing them.. but either way i love the game however good or bad i am at it :p

So, even though i know 3 color control is pretty much "where its at" i felt that based on the upcoming meta, 3 colors and tapped lands are by no means a friend of control. That being said i did go 2 colors with my odd build here. Be gentle and keep an open mind :).

Okay, first let me say this is the VERY first draft of this type of build and by no means is anything set in stone. Mainly speaking I may end up taking out many of what might be considered “win cons” and moving them to the side board to play only against certain decks. However, as a first (and rough) draft I figured I’d jam pack it for full intent.

Now, upon second glance you might be confused lol. Why am I giving my opponent so much “creature advantage”? I’m not.. I’m turning the creatures they actually get to play into tokens and removing them permanently with “detain” with Detention Sphere and Inaction Injunction (as once a token leaves the field it can never return, and a free card draw to boot with inaction injunction) or killing them out right with 0 ticked up ratchet bombs. (tokens having no mana cost as you know). If things get out of control I do have a very flexible side board that might fix any spots.

The main idea behind this control is I expect to see MANY MANY creature decks in my meta (always have) and thus my main base will be in vermin control!

    The plan:
Stall, until we get a win con of course. The main win cons being either Jace, Memory Adept allowed to run amock with Medomai, the Ageless allowing us to zero him multiple turns. Aeitherling (for obvious routes).
Thassa, God of the Sea (though some debate it) gives us a great ability to see into the future pulls we may have, in addition being indestructible helps when we side in flat out wipes like Supreme Verdict.

Now questionable? Why is Daxos of Meletis there? He is the ULTIMATE early game survival mechanism in my opinion. We aren’t so much planning on casting every spell we are able to get through (and with our removal we should be okay, yes he dies to removal but that‘s what Silence and Render Silent are for), but we will be relying on the life gain of each flipped card! He is our early game until we hit an appropriate Sphinx’s Revelation mana base.

Is this a possible long drawn out game? Probably… but most control is. The worst deck against us might be direct burn, or using direct means to kill off all our win cons, but that would be quite the feat without a sideboard in game 1 and in game 2 extra counters come in to help prevent that, and a single win con plan can be formed for our own deck.

This may not be the correct way to make a UW control, but I find it very fun to play if nothing else. I’m going to be testing it in some sample sites, to get an idea of how fast/slow it is and also if its possible to win in a mirror. For now it is my 3rd idea since the spoilers came out for Theros, and currently the one I’ve gotten giddy about. Thoughts are welcome, but just remember FIRST DRAFT lol. J Thank you for lookin’!

I thought i'd have to give up my boros deck wins post rotation.. but honestly i'm more excited than ever! My favorite card spoiled to add to the deck is probably:

    Akroan Hoplite RW
    Creature — Human Soldier

Whenever Akroan Hoplite attacks, it gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the number of attacking creatures.
    llus. Igor Kieryluk

    1/2

That guy with any enchantments (messenger's speed, mad cap skills) or extra pumps is going to be nuts!

With Legion Loyalist, Ash Zealot, this guy Reckoner, boros charm, the new/reprint burn spells, Anax and Cymede, Titan's strength, Minotaur Skullcleaver, etc... my biggest issue will be cutting a deck down to 60 cards :(... lol that is rarely the case as you usually have very few amazing cards to choose from but this time i see it being very difficult to get the appropriate flow and curve just right to <rape>-face! I'm super happy though!

Please don't use rape so casually. -TK

I really like it now that you put the title back at the top! the mana symbols don't bother me where they are and i think this is probably one of the best new designs i've seen.
Honestly though i hope the current frame style never changes, Having the art shifted to one side for alter artists would be quite the pain in the bum, not to mention how we'd have to paint around those mana symbols lol. But i do like it!

    Some more nouveau style alters.

Mayael the Anima (some censored nudity).

    Playing with some gold paint:

    Azami, Lady of the Scrolls.

Added some silver and golden paint here:

    Niv-Mizzet Dracogenius.

    Gold paint:

The border is based on this painting:http://www.wikipaintings.org/en/alphonse-mucha/zodiac-1896

Fan art by me, all characters on the cards belong to WOTC, style inspired by Alphonse Mucha's work (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphonse_Mucha).

These are just amazing! I really really love your style and i especially adore the Niv Mizzet. I think this brings a great focus to the character portrayed on the cards. I really wanna try this style, but you are just the master of it! Smile

Here are my two most recent alters! If anyone has any comments, tips or opinions they will be greatly appreciated as I am still just starting out with this. I know that there is a bump on the Celestial Colonnade, it bugs me greatly.

For just starting out seems your color matching is great, i just think you may be putting your paint on too thick, that causes the card to look a little bubbly, and causes those catches of thicker paint creating that "bump" that bugs you. Just thin it out with water and do layers to create the blend. Great start though!

Voted for Karona. The lines look very clean for being traditional/not digital.

I like the re-do of Karona with the Morphling feel.

Is it traditional/not digital? If it is I like it more, but from the look of it i figured it was digital all the way.
