i was at sao paolo. the quantity of tron variants (gr and gb) and gr valakut decks surprised me, and the quantity of bad players sleeving grixis death's shadow was amazing.
The top decks at the moment to me are tron (traditional ones and eldrazi), valakut decks and grixis shadow. I think that the real problem of the format at the moment is the lack of good big mana hate
i played uw at gp sao paolo, finished 10-5, and lost 2 rounds because of variance (really bad luck) but my feeling about the deck is that grixis death's shadow is just a better deck to play overall. The skill required to play both decks is high, but at the same level of skills, death's shadow winrate seems higher, cause you have a better clock and better cards in general. The good thing about uw in particular is the possibility of playing good planeswalkers, that have more value now that bolt is less common
talking about the new article, "metamorphosis 2.0" do you think that the comeback of this kind of "coreset" could bring back the modern pro tour? it seems like a pro tour with a core set as a focus could be boring, even more taking into account that, as maro said, this set would be more oriented to new players
didnt honest think of that. Maybe a split pt or if it was a modern one maybe they do a team unified type thing with standard and legacy too that seems rather popular as well as the fact that they are pushing teams now.
maybe. but this change should revitalize the audience, and giving modern A LITTLE more space for hardcore players

Maro said a lot of times that older formats dont matter when designing cards, cause, at worst, they can be banned, but at the same time, people keep saying that SFM is still banned because of this. Jitte is the real offender, and i think that SFM would be a good card for modern
I think that, at the moment, modern seems in a good spot as a format overall, even with the lack of good blue cards. Death's shadow seems to keep in check a lot of "non-fun" decks like twin did before, without the "oops, i win" wincon that everybody hated, and that is something good, even when i was a twin player. I dont miss the strategy now, and thats because of deaths shadow balancing the meta.
Seems like a good spot to unban jace, the mind sculptor tho. It doesnt fit on DS and it's a good tool to fight this kind of decks, empowering blue strategies without boosting combo decks
Hello, im from argentina, and ill be visiting Rome, italy, in june/july, and id like to know where can i play modern and buy singles there (better with good prices haha) Thank you!!
more questions about your list, being mostly walls, how do you manage to find business spells on time? for example, other chord lists runs eternal witness or so to reuse chords and things like that, and more value creatures. It is something that happens too often?
But at the same time, wizards is printing more an more powerful creatures, so the consistency that blue had in the past now is on BG, just by brute force, so i dont see the point of limiting blue cantrips, when you have things like traverse (and setting delirium is not that hard) or just by filling your deck with redundancy, like thoughtseize and inquisition on black, or chord of calling and collected company on green, or "40 bolts" decks in red
