Hey I'm building a mana base for my UW midrangey deck and was wondering how many Basic lands i,e plains, islands, and hallowed fountains justify running glacial fortress
Right now i have 11 lands that allow it to come in untapped is that enough ? or a bit on the lowside ... i dont ever want it coming in tapped with my deck...
it seems ok to me im just wondering if there was a rule of thumb ballpark
cool thanks, i like the idea of dropping the inkmoths for raging ravine and treetop village i almost never win with the infect... regular beaters might make mre sense
Awesome thanks a lot guys, i've opted to get some steelshapers and ya none of us have jund decks or any big time modern decks, my buddies play zombies, titans, and hawks! Aggro games make for a lot of fun i think... either way thanks for the feedback!
I play casually with my buddy and we try to keep it modernesque... but we aren't nazi's.
I want to play my own version of cawblade because i love the deck but i dont want to walk all over my friends decks using the "banned" stoneforges mystics
I will not be playing batterskull, or jitte either, and he doesnt play any blue or countermagic in his decks that would make her ability of cheating the equipments down a big gamebreaker... I am playing one sword of War and Peace and one sword of Feast and Famine.
My question is, would you still think that she is going to be too strong in my deck for anything in modern to compete with given the above info.
K so i'm brand new to deck building but i love coming up with my own ideas. So I figured i'd start with a deck that is burn at it's base since burn is a straightforward concept and seems easiest to me. The idea of this deck is to use the splice onto arcane mechanic to keep cards in hand, and use scrying sheets with magma jets and crystal ball to gain lands and card advantage as a subtheme. I use my jets/bolts/ray's to deal with aggro or i can just go to the face if i have the right draw. My win condition is a koth or an inferno Titan, which can be pretty vicious if i have both in hand turn 3 Koth into turn 4 (using his -2 ability, otherwise I get his emblem going asap!) inferno titan is the ideal play. What sets this apart from traditional burn is I wanted it to have more staying power and resilience so that on turn three or four i'm still going very strong rather than traditional burn where if you dont have him in the deep red zone by then you are either mana flooded or just in a ton of trouble.
Anyway, just looking for advice and tips, be gentle this is my first creation.
My only other deck is a very casual legacy cawblade that i play with friends.
cheers and thanks in advance!
In the process of building stoneblade, piece by piece.
I didn't want to put this in the budget forums because i am planning on building the complete deck.
Goin to school and working for now so just grabbing piece by piece as I go along.
What I am looking for is what pieces I should be grabbing next in order for the deck to be most efficient at winning games.
I am working on the mana base now but would be quite grateful for suggestions.
P.s, there is a lot of D&T in my pools and second to that I would say is combo not too much aggro...

P.p.s, I know the riptide wizard combo is slow... I've been thinkin about maybe adding a vial or two. I really enjoy playing more of a control game and having longer games. And if I get the mana mangara with riptide, minamo, or both can be pretty cute... its no karakas lock but one step at a time
Ill call this wizardblade for now lmao... cuz it does not yet merit a legacy Stoneblade title... but i mean cmon, WIZARDBLADE!
Anyway, thanks for any help/tips in advance, cheers.
The question shouldn't be how many Islands that you run. It is how many islands and fetches that can get Islands should you run. Is this a tempo, combo or a control deck? Probably not control as they hardly ever run Daze.
So, which is it?
ya i meant how many islands and fetches that can get islands... its a UW cawblade but i cant afford FoW and cards like tundra just yet... was lookin for a # value of islands/fetches that makes running 2-3 dazes reliable.
Hey so im running a UW deck with 2-3 copies of daze in it...
My question is how many islands do i need to run in order to make its alternate cost reliable early...
cheers
You would need a third combo piece to change colorless to red. With Heartless Summoning out, it would cost RR to play the Ignus and return it t your hand, which gives you 2R back.
Heartless summoning infinite combo with grinning ignus ?
The shred memories tutor my comet storm or my heartless...
Dimir machinations tutors my ignus or works as draw to find another piece...
Everything is based on getting ignus with heartless summoning and adding infinite mana to my pool then burning them for infinite...
and once ignus resolves with his ability i can hold priority and return him to my hand i believe... any thoughts/critiques would be nice please
That makes sense man... im really inexperienced as far as building a competitive deck i play pretty casually with my friends in modern some legacy and gonna try EDH soon, was just lookin at red black heartless summoning combos looks to be pretty sick preciate it...
4x Drogskol Captain
3x Bloodghast
3x Phantasmal Image
2x Geist of Saint Traft
4x Path to Exile
4x Countersquall

Im still workin on the mana base but any tips/ideas would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking of Azorius Herald's as well...

My buds and i are pretty casual but we "try" to play modern as our local shop only really holds tournies for modern which we go to occassionally.
