This card is great in a U/W version that needs early protection from aggro decks and that also uses ojutais command. Furthermore, bant decks or G/W decks can also utilize the command and dromokas command. In W/R strategies lantern scout and bushwacker give this card the oomph it needs to flip.
I love this card! Compared to Jace, memory adept and the guild pact one this version is awesome! Not a 4 of in any deck, but what a great draw late game when u are running a control deck.
Removal exists in scarce quantities in Limited--therefore, creature tricks are much more effective. Because Limited decks rely on creatures as a backbone, when you play a card like this, you will also have a much more devastating effect than in Constructed.
And Constructed decks run countermagic and instant-speed removal in great quantities--you can use this card and watch it get removed before combat ever takes place.
This card is a limited bomb. It is also a really poor choice for Constructed play. And although my words are probably echoing upon deaf ears (or blind eyes, in this case), I will never pass up the opportunity to make someone a better player.
You are right, there is removal...and a lot of it. And I tend to only play Type II as well....where hopefully come October there will be a whole lot less removal and counters. I appreciate the suggestions and do realise that if it get's countered then you better have plan B in affect. But isn't that how most decks go?
Love this card. Part of me wishes that instead of unblockable, it could gain flying.
Sure its only 4/5 and there are limitations as mentioned already, but it can be unblockable, hexproof, indestructable, vigiliant, an 0/9, an 8/1. It can also can be used as a chump blocker and then bounce.
Oh, and its sweet in evolve decks too.
Absolutely, this card can pump up late game evolve creatures in one turn. EVERYBODY'S HA 4 POWER!
The situations you've posted are most likely not going to happen in an actual match, at least, if the conditions are granted, you're opponent may have an answer. And you really think this card is a better 6th turn play than dropping a Ruric That? Turn 6 you drop Thar and make it a really hard time for your opponent. Turn 6 in order to "game win" with Armed // Dangerous you need the right creature out.
Actually the situation I gave you was quite unrealistic...you're right. Most of the time with Gruul you're going to have out 3-4 creatures by that time, so only having two to attack with IS unrealistic. And instead of the Flail I would probably have a Rackdos Cackler or Worlfir Avenger paired with a Rancor. So Lethal is achieved very quickly. Rurac Thar would give your opponents a tough time, I agree. Armed//Dangerous just ends the game.
Ug.... I hate posts like this. You've phrased it in an objective tone so I'm not going to bother with a rebuttal because you've made up your mind about this card. I just hope you play in my town... you're my favorite type of person to play in round one.
Anyways, this cards has served me well in limited and will continue to.
I do play in your town. Actually you watched me go lethal 4 times this past weekend at the prerelease with this card. That's why I went 5-1 on the night and finished 3rd out of 48 people. Didn't see Rurac Thar or anyone else's 6cmc drops helping them out that much.
Sorry folks, but that's what I said. You see, the reason that Armed//Dangerous makes the top of the list is for these reasons:
1. It's not a rare. Therefore, it can't be over hyped, a huge let-down, insanely priced, or unavailable.
2. At most its 6 CMC in colors that can ramp. Are you telling me that you would rather top card a Rurac Thar for your 6th turn slot (probably 4-5th turn d/t ramp) or an actual game winner?
3. IT IS a game winner. Yes you can play Dangerous on your deathtouch dork to take out two creatures. But when you fuse this card late game you can either use it as a board wipe on your opponent, or as lethal damage.
Put it this way, I have an Arbor Elf in play and Ghor-Clan Rampager (lets be modest). If I also had an Inquisitor's Flail on the Rampager I would deal 20 damage by making him 5/5 that has double strike and doubles all damage dealt, while your opponent is busy blocking my Elf.
It gets better. Boros Reckoner. Attach Armed to another one of your guys and target Dangerous to the Reckoner. End game. And so on. The choice is yours with this card....wipe the field or deal lethal.
I went 5-1 rounds on the night with Selesnya and Boros. Armed/Dangerous literally did lethal 4 of those games. Soooo excited to use it now in standard!
So what if a Blood Scrivener is in play and I also have a Lotleth Troll play and I draw a card that is a creature card? Since drawing a card is an individual effect could I draw that card--trigger Blood Scrivener to draw another----discard the creature card as an instant---draw the "second" card---trigger the Blood Scrivener again to draw another card?
