    Gut shot is mainly used as a tempo card. It is great at killing mana dorks without setting us back a turn.

    It is also great against the many x/1s in Modern, like most humans before they get big.

    It can also kill phantasmal image.

    Against E-tron on the play, would you guys keep a hand of bomb, MR, mimic, GQ, waste, Blink and I had a scourge exiled.

    I just feel like the hand is too slow. Maybe the disruption is good enough, but I feel like we wanna prioritize aggro vs control, especially on the play.

    Would you guys keep a six of double Smasher, Temple, Ghost Quarter, Dismember, and Chalice OTP. I think it is too slow on draw

    I swear I do everything you're describing. Occasionally I kill the turn 1 hierarch, but maybe I shouldn't do that unless I'm gut shotting. If my only removal spell isn't being taken by the freebooter, I'm getting hit by multiple fliers, or tempo'd out with Reflector Mage. I have gotten them down to low life many times but they always seem to top deck out of it. I'm also using Jordan's 75 except I'm testing another gut shot in the sb over the cavern and have been siding just as you described -4 chalice package and in removal.

    The only card that I think I may be playing incorrectly is Rachet Bomb. I usually let it set at 2 until I feel it is worth blowing.

    I have also been screwed by meddling mage in many matches so idk why you're saying it isn't relevant. It only takes mage + phantasmal and all of a sudden I'm without meaningful threats. I always mulligan slow hands, and after sb never keep anything without removal (unless it is the nuts curve).

    I'm definitely going to put Torpor Orb in my sb. Through MTGO and Modern events at my LGS I am currently 2-16. I really have no idea where I am going wrong in the match-up.

    When do you guys know when to turn the corner? I feel like I'm always behind and mantis rider always wrecks me.

    How do you guys sequence a hand of MR, SSG, Smasher, Chalice, Temple, Temple, and Blinkmoth.

    I'm really inclined to wanna smasher on two, but I have a much better curve if I got 3 drop on 1, chalice on 2 and smasher on 3.

    I will definitely give cutting smashers a try. Does that mean you keep SSGs in and go -4 smasher, -4 Chalice?

    Thank you. I think I will cut the 2nd spyglass and try a gutshot.

    If you don't mind, how exactly are you playing the ratchet bombs? Do you always play them out asap, mull to them, or what? I feel like they are always too slow in my games and had wished they were just another spot removal.

    I have read all of your articles about this deck and most of the posts. My main issue is the lack of a sideboard slot by having the gemstone caverns in the side. I guess I will reread the article, but my main issue with all of this is the lack of a sideboard slot, not with void itself. I was just trying to come up with a fix for the issue I feel that I have with your current 75. It must just be my play, but I really want another card against humans, and gemstone is the only card that I wanna cut without losing percentage points against other decks that I face more frequently.

    I agree that the land is good, but is it better than Gemstone and a sb slot? My gut reaction says it isn't because of how valuable sb slots are, and the speed that gemstone brings to the table. And, I mean, we did play 3 in the main for quite a long time, so why is it bad all of a sudden?

    If you wait to play Void, that means it isn't as crucial to draw in the early turns, so we could get away with running 3 so as to return the cavern to the mb and return our valuable sb slot.

    Humans is the deck that is giving me the most trouble.

    How wrong do you think it is to cut the 4th Void to have the 15th sideboard slot back?

    I really want another card for the humans match up.

    Ahh, okay. Maybe try adding a Spatial Contortion to help with the go wide strategies, since those are what we have the most trouble with.

    If you guys have a hand like this, OTP, how would you use the SSG?

    Mutavault, SSG, Elrazi Temple, Gemstone Caverns, Matter Reshaper, and TKS.
