We're at 15 Mythics now, so it looks like that's it for SOI.

We've been getting 16 in some big sets lately.

The downgrade path MTG is taking is depressive, that was the reason i stop playing standard, you pay alot for a trash card that is staple, and then, when you need to sell, due to rotation or anything else, you cant get even half of what you spent.

It's a hobby, not an investment strategy. Hobbies cost money, they don't make you money.

This card gives you lots of excuses to howl during games which is a plus. It gives you creatures, bolts things, pumps things, pumps other things and has some cool emblem that will probably never happen. This is good stuff. Also you can howl every time it flips.

I promise you, I will punch any player who howls at my LCS.

Also, when asked about Garruk, Maro responded "Fear not." Eldritch Moon was code named Fears. So I'm betting Liliana, Tamiyo, and Garruk are in that set. It would be nice to see Tibalt as well, but there isn't much evidence to support it yet.

Saying "fear not" suggests he's not in Fears, doesn't it?

They're not going to kill Jace after revealing Vryn and the source of his amnesia that storyline has to play out for sure.

Magic has so many unfinished plotlines and hanging chads it's silly. But yeah, they're not going to kill Jace. They couldn't even keep him on Ravnica for 15 minutes.

They'll never kill off Jace. I don't understand why so many people want that anyways. I like good solid main characters. He doesn't need to die for them to have a different pw card. We don't know any confirmed walkers besides Sorin and Arlinn in soi anyways. With how stupid expensive vryn's prodigy is, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave us tamiyo over Jace. I will be equally unsurprised if we DO get a Jace card just knowing how much wotc loves him.

He's on all of the packaging, including the boosters, so he's definitely getting a new card. And the price of Jace, Vryn's Prodigy really has no bearing on him getting a new card in this set or not. These sets are made way in advance.

Given that the orochi were not based on any one particular mythological creature, and the Naga were, the flavor was not without reason.
Gorgon, for example, still has the Gorgon creature type, despite snakes playing a key role in all versions of the myth, and several variations of the Gorgons looking like a variation on Naga. (Like any of the ones from Theros, for example.)

Orochi are based on snake people from Japanese folklore(Hokkaido iirc), and naga just means snake. Gorgons, on the other hand, are beings of magic and a specific thing, separate from snake people. Naga are very clearly snake people, just as Merfolk are fish people.

Your thinking isn't very nuanced here.
Just because in one circumstance it was decided not to be worth it, doesn't mean in another different circumstance it can't consistently be decided otherwise.
Naga and Orochi are different and where in different worlds, with a different set context going on. Consider also that WotC is not a single body, some of them probably thought the Orochi should be given they're own type, just as some of them now think that the Naga creature type was a mistake.

It's also not objectively stupid in any case, flavour evaluations and such are definitively subjective.

The goblins on Tarkir are equally different from the goblins of Kamigawa but they still got the goblin creature type.

In response to the Mummy/Zombie dispute, I would really expect and hope they make all mummies have creature type Zombie; as much as I think it'd be nice and proper for them to get distinction as Mummy creatures specifically, there's no reason to make cool, flavourful cards less playable by putting them somewhere really niche.

Maro has been talking lately on his tumblr about how he thinks they should have stuck with "snake" instead of using "naga" as a creature type. Cyclopean Mummy was errata'd, so I doubt they'd renew a Mummy creature type.

Yeah, the naga thing was stupid.

Jace hasn't been in a block since RTR. Can we please stop being childish about this stuff?

But he's had 2 new cards since then. It's not like Jace hasn't been all over Magic non-stop.
