Gorgon, for example, still has the Gorgon creature type, despite snakes playing a key role in all versions of the myth, and several variations of the Gorgons looking like a variation on Naga. (Like any of the ones from Theros, for example.)

Just because in one circumstance it was decided not to be worth it, doesn't mean in another different circumstance it can't consistently be decided otherwise.
Naga and Orochi are different and where in different worlds, with a different set context going on. Consider also that WotC is not a single body, some of them probably thought the Orochi should be given they're own type, just as some of them now think that the Naga creature type was a mistake.

It's also not objectively stupid in any case, flavour evaluations and such are definitively subjective.

Maro has been talking lately on his tumblr about how he thinks they should have stuck with "snake" instead of using "naga" as a creature type. Cyclopean Mummy was errata'd, so I doubt they'd renew a Mummy creature type.

Even if there isn't, there's always Honored Hierarch. And Rattleclaw Mystic produces three colors. If this can be reliably cast with four colors, it could be solid.

I'm quite fed up with that seeded booster thing. They're too swingy, the seeded rare can go from complete bomb with all excellent support in terms of common/uncommon to total chaff, and as such ruins the depth of your pool. It ruined my DTK PR experience twice, my FRF PR was a bad Abzan and a nuts Temur, then again, I go DTK Dromoka and Ojutai with okay/bad seeded boosters of course not backed by the regular boosters... and come back home frustrated. It doesn't really make me want to attend PR anymore. I wish they'd get back to regular sealed deck but with more emphasis on side animations like the Dragon Roar which are quite fun.

Ayn Rand was a disgusting human being and a hypocrite of the worst order. She lived off of her disciples for the latter half of her life because she was a failure as a writer and everything else she tried. All "Randroids" seem to forget that her books were almost universally panned by critics as simplistic, shortsighted and lacking in personality, compelling characters and stories. She was trying to spread her message but it mostly only resonated with rich kids who were born into money. Unfortunately followers of her philosophy have been in positions to spread their insidious worldview in the form of policy. Most visibly is Paul Ryan, but most egregiously is Alan Greenspan. His constant efforts to deregulate markets and give benefits to the wealthy caused at least 2 economic downturns and the largest wealth gap in American history.
The Randian ideology is a dangerous and heartless one.
