    I don't know if anyone has mentioned this or not but Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir is just tech.

    Last night I really tweaked my deck. my local meta is filled with URW Control/Midrange. Lots of monoblue tron and splinter twin.

    after looking through lots of binders at my LGS I came across Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir. I tossed it in my SB and brought it against URW and the Mirror. It just totally went deep and no one was expecting it when I responded with it to their play.

    maybe its good for my meta who knows, but I thought I'd share none the less.

    tl;dr went X-0 and won a playset of goyf because of Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir as a sweet tech card in my meta.

    I'll be adding a section to the primer about why the deck doesn't play Blue. Blue has been proven 'dead weight' in this deck for almost a year now.

    Granted the deck's origins are in Bant, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we have the MtGO community to thank for cutting Blue, adding Dryad Arbor, and tuning the deck to the lean machine it is today.

    The deck performs the exact same function but at a more consistent rate when it's only G/W. Mainly it's in the fact that the mana can produce turn 1 Green, turn two any combination of Green and White, and turn 3 double White. That allows the deck to get more explosive hands and curve out the nuts on a consistent basis. With blue in the deck, it makes it harder to resolve a Coronet if you are playing with Breeding Pools instead of Razorverge Thickets and harder to drop a turn one Bogle/Scout if you got a pair of Hallowed Fountains in your opener.

    It's also been well proven that the deck can run off of 12-14 creatures and comparison between Silhana Ledgewalker and Invisible Stalker is close enough to discount any argument that Stalker should be included. Also, unblockablility can be obtained through Spirit Mantle and Trample is huge in the format considering the creatures with the fattest bottoms are Tarmogoyf and Restoration Angel.

    Geist is a three drop and that immediately discounts any use since the average Bogle deck caps at 2 CMC on the curve. The Blue auras are overshadowed by current aura package and Curiosity is easily replaced by the shifted Keen Sense.

    If I overlooked anything, please speak up fellow Bogle players so I can keep the primer accurate.

    Grokh, welcome to the discussion! Smile If you have anymore questions or want to share your decklist we look forward to more discussions Smile

    I really would like to argue for blue here because since about End of Modern PTQ season I updated my bogle list to be strictly b/u my list compromised of the following and my current record stands at 243-50-1 with this deck. I have had great success with this variant and frequently prize out in top 4 slots at modern events.

    // Creatures (14)

    4 Slippery Bogle
    4 Invisible Stalker
    4 Kor Spiritdancer
    2 Geist of Saint Traft

    //Aura Package (18)

    4 Spectral Flight
    4 Daybreak Coronet
    4 Ethereal Armor
    4 Hyena Umbra
    2 Curiosity

    // Tempo/Protection (flex slots)
    4 Path to Exile
    4 Remand

    // Land (20)
    4 Hallowed Fountain
    4 Glacial Fortress
    4 Seachrome Coast
    4 Misty Rainforest
    1 Dryad Arbor
    2 Island
    1 Plains

    //Sideboard

    2 Stony Silence
    3 Suppression Field
    4 Leyline
    2 Rest In Peace
    3 Natures Claim
    1 Spellskite

    I felt blue has a lot of potential, it's the same reason why in my GW build I included Voice of Resurgence as well. There is room for adaptability and variance and I think in many ways in what a person feels comfortable with. Locally in my meta I would play G/W because most of the decks I would face are MonoU Tron, URW Control/Midrange, and Twin, Soul Sisters. At a larger tournament like the one i played in last weekend Which I expected a less diverse field I got their crushing it with U/W losing only in my top 2 round. I mean it gets there, and i think people want to believe that bogle is pretty straight forward but there are some huge tactics behind this little ug menace

    just my two cents regarding blue.

    My question now, is now that it's going to be played in the semifinals of the World Championships, can we move this from Established to Proven?

    Seriously?

    If Reid Duke crushes worlds with it, then i am totally down for this... they play modern on Sunday right?

    Sith: One of the strengths of the deck is being able to come out of the gates quickly. I'm not sure a slower version with Geist is quite what you want. Remand and filtering are interesting though.

    In the same vein of blue versions of auras, I have an old list with blue, created/tested by some pro team before they abandoned it (this is before the deck became popular). Can't remember who wrote about it though...

    I understand, I am testing with a U/W version because my meta has switched to a heavy control format, and this is what has been able to punch through that meta.

    I have been trying a Blue White variant recently. it seems to preforming well, and it generates some really interesting interactions. Most people I have played this against get really confused. It's slower than normal bogle for obvious reasons. but the deck is still fun.

    Sorry, I was playing for over 11 hours may be i should have waited till I can think more clearer before I write things. But I wrote it because it was still fresh. but whatever dude. My deck worked, and it very tech for what I needed it to do and it did it just fine for me. I never play whats expected, I will always make people turn their heads.

    Hey guys. I just top 8ed a WPN Qualifer for an 2K event that is happening next weekend, playing a very tweaked out version of G/W Aura's playing this list.

    Let me explain my main deck choices. Lingering Souls I found bought me a lot of time, especially if I at those critical turns where the difference was living or dead on a swing back. I thought because of my play style it was effective. It gave me a little bit more gas as well against things like Lillana of the Veil by protecting my enchanted creature longer.

    Maindeck Spellskite was so boss against RDW, you don't even know how much that went from a 50/50 match for either of us to almost 100 percent match in our (my) favor. Especially in the city I live in there are about a half dozen or so RDW and RDW variant players who I would just have to race at Modern events, or end up having to split top 2 with because it was easier than just losing. And my god this was so effective today.

    During my 5th Round I had a guy sitting back 5 life, and I was at 9 life. He tapped out to play Aurelia's Fury while I had a spellskite on the table. he had no creatures, and this was pretty much game. So he announced his targets which was just me. I said okay, I will pay two life and redirect to Spellskite. But seriously this guy main decked is worth his weight in gold.

    Qasali Pridemage was a meta choice for me. lots of people I know play with Isochron Scepter with Lightning Helix or something ridiculous. So this was straight up tech from the get go. But he did a great job, that exalted trigger made the difference between a turn early kill or not.

    My sideboard choices are pretty straight forward. In games where I wasn't playing against some new jund variant like fast jund (goblin guide) or jund with thrun souls came out of the board for sideboard choices. If I saw they were playing souls. I brought in my swamp and illness in the ranks for some techy beat down. Taking 3 instead of 4 on GoSt Angel seems like a good idea too.

    Seriously thinking about main deck Suppression Field because how awesome it was. But it also screwed me too in the match I lost (my only loss in swiss rounds) I thought Chromatic Stars/Spheres in eggs/tron were activated abilities but as it turns out they were mana abilities.

    In the top 8 rounds, I lost to Infect, I knew it was there, but I don't think I was mentally prepared for the match up. It went to 3 games, because I had removal. After our match my opponent and I were talking about about race, because like RDW we have to race infect. I then remember one of the moves he made at one point casting vines of vastwood. If you play vines either in side or main you can potentially blow them out by making their dude hexproof so only you can cast spells on them which would make all their pumps be countered on resolution due to you controlling the Hexproof ability on their creature. (we went by this with a judge and he said and then the other two said it totally works) that is such a huge blow out for infect. I wish I knew about it prior to the tournament. Now I know, and I will see this guy at the 2k event next week.

    anyways yeah that's all I got to say right now on my deck that I played. What are your thoughts?

    Today while I was at my LGS, I saw a friend there who I know is playing U/R Delver - He bought and will be adding Hibernation to his sideboard. He specifically said it was against my deck (Bogle) but it also deals with Goyf. I think this is a tech we should be wary of against this deck archetype.

    Hibernation for those not familiar with it:
    2U: Instant

    Return all green permanents to their owners' hands.

    If we over extend this can be a blowout. Causing a control deck to take advantage of dropping counters against our creature base afterwards.

    either cutting daybreak coronet (which, in my testing doesn't feel essential to myself, even though it is an amazing card), or halving them. Or cutting keen senses. Though, I'd most likely just run it as sideboard tech for glaring spotlight. Though, I'm definitely going to see the real usefulness of hexproof-giving enchantments. the real card we're concerned about is path to exile. So perhaps an enchantment giving protection from opponents spells (not oracle text=hexproof)

    May be I am misunderstanding something here. but, if Glaring Spotlight whether or board or played later and the enchantment grants hexproof. the Can't will always win no matter what. The important part about glaring spotlight from g/w aura's standpoint is the bottom line making our creatures unblockable.

    I am more or less content with running artifact/enchantment hate then actually running another enchantment that won't work when people play glaring spotlight. But maybe that is just me.

    I think the main thing we need to tackle is the fact that all of our cards die to Engineered Explosives at one. I think we should fix this. (though, Forced Adaptation looks like it might fill a hole we have in the deck, unlike Keen Senses )

    Perhaps a card we really need is something that grants hexproof and has some nice buffing. I'll do a gatherer search tonight and see what I'll come up with, in addition to testing the gatecrash awesomeness :3

    edit: found this gem in gatecrash. Not sure how playable, but seems good if your creature has a rancor on it.

    found this from Worldwake:

    How relavent is Canopy Cover except maybe when attached to Kor-Spirit Dancer? from a retrospective look, it looks fantastic for her alone. But considering that the rest of our creatures can already deal with not being targeted it would fill up a slot where?

    How much does this deck cost to put together, and what are some cuts I could make for budget?

    The deck is pretty budget to begin with. Your most expensive investments will be the Misty Rainforests, Shocklands, Verdant Catacombs, Some sideboard cards and the Daybreak Coronets.

    Daybreaks (4x) run at about 15-17 each
    Misty Rainforest (4x) are between 27-35 each
    Verdant Catacombs (2x) 20-25 each
    Shocklands are whatever they are now

    You can get away with some of the manabase like I have, but that is due to the lack of availability of paper cards as compared to the modo version

    here is an updated version of the list I currently run. http://www.mtgvault.com/sithholocron/decks/bantchantment-gwu-aura/

    What are the typical board decisions for Bogle? Especially against decks like Jund, tokens, infect, storm, etc.

    Are you guys auto boarding G2 Stony Silence? or Nature's Claim?

    Cards' that I auto board are: Stony Silence (2), Nature's Claim (2), Retether (3) then I work the rest of my board around my local meta. Which include Pithing Needle, Echoing Truth (I run a bant variant), Leyline of Sanctity, Scryb Ranger, Fog, Blessing of Nature, Rule of Law (2)

    Yeah it was really helpful for sure. I even thought about greater auramancy as well but I'm not sure if that is taking a huge risk or not

    do you find that daybreak coronet is not even needed in the deck? or is it only because you are running the bant version? i like rest in peace in the board but it does make rancor a little worse..

    To be honest, Daybreak Coronet wasn't even on my list of cards in the first place when I thought of re-tuning it be more Bant like. Not to say it isn't a great card, I just had no real reason to include it in my build. I think more or less I was thrown off by it's double white casting cost and it has to go on an already enchanted creature. I can see though, that it might be a later addition if I feel the need, but for the most part I am impartial either way. I was pleased without it though.

    Rest in Peace was very viable and I had the same concerns when shutting on Rancor, but to be fair in the match up's against esper control and u/w flash it really didn't even come into question when I slapped on stalker and just got value out of it.

    I built a bant variant of this deck over the weekend, and ended up going to a Modern event at my local LSG on Monday evening. I know the modern meta really well there and it's mostly filled with SpiritJund & Jund/Tron/Esper Control I honestly did not expect to do well at the event but ended the night 4-0 (first place)
