Soulfire isn't a chase mythic, not even close. It's a bear with lifelink, that if you play in a control deck potentially gives your spells buyback.
1. Soulfire + counterspell isn't the end all, it costs six to counter one spell, in formats where people can go bolt, bolt, treasure cruise? Nah.
2. I again repeat the fact that this is basically a shiny 2/2, in a set where your opponent is probably gonna have an ungodly number of 2/2 manifests.
Yea man splashable 2 mana creatures that reward you for playing spells you'd play anyway NEVER see play. That's why pyromancer isn't a thing in modern and seeker of the way isn't a thing in standard. Very astute of you.
You're comparing a 2 mana creature that puts more creatures on the board, compared to one that gains you life. One affects the board, one doesn't.
bad card, we have nothing with haste. it's not like we are red and playing goblins :|
Just cause we don't have haste doesn't mean we can't use this, you run it as a 2-of and run it out turn 2 or so, my deck has enough 1 drops that this will rarely be the only thing you can cast on the first turn. And even if it is your only 1-drop, waiting a turn to attack isn't terrible cause it swings for 2 each turn.
I had a game where my opponent blocked my Alms Beast with a Boros Reckoner, then used its damage ability to kill the Alms Beast. He proceeded to gain 6 life. At the time that didn't really matter, but does the damage ability have lifelink as well?
On MTGO I can't suspend anything after casting a spell, with Rule of Law out, but nothing on suspend says it casts a spell. Is this behavior correct? Ancestral Vision for suspend reference.
Here's what I've been using recently. Only 14 borderposts, so less land hate, but the manabase is faster and more consistent, and usually against control you'll usually still kill most of their land and hand with it. Vs aggro you just want the wrath effect. Also running less borderposts means not getting screwed by affinity hate as much.
Still iffy on the sideboard, I'll probably swap in a Dismember and 2 Wispmares somewhere.
May I ask why you guys only run 3 Restore Balance?
Because you should usually kill your opponent before needing to balance 4 times, and also because you never want to draw a balance, running 4 is just asking for it.
I can't begin to tell you how many times I've surprise killed people with some Lingering Souls and this, without the free spell attached. Why doesn't this see play outside of cascade decks? Seems like it'd do well in a zoo deck or token deck.
They don't get the draw on Defiant Strike because it fizzles though, so there's that.
Briber's Purse
Frenzied Goblin
Arena Athlete
Horde Ambusher
Icy Blast
Strive
Bestow
That said, a 4/1 for 2 is good, if people aren't playing anything like those cards, I want to play this.

So this is a card. I'm really tempted to just run this Soltari Foot Soldier and Daring Skyjek and hope they don't play Electrickery. Can't really run it out on the first turn though, unlike War Falcon.
